Aww c'mon, surely this could be one of Afterdawn's long running threads, we've still got 4yr old threads going strong around the place :P
We've already reached page 11. This has all the makings of being the Forrest Gump thread of afterdawn.

It is quiet entertaining how every solution that is presented is met with either an excuse as to why it will not work or a comletely different problem. And besides, closing it out now would leave you holding extra tickets to sell.

Take your PC to your local repair shop and have them reformat it for you. Also tell them that your drives do not stay in DMA mode and ask them to check your bios settings. When you come home with a CLEAN pc, keep it that way. Don't download anything your little heart desires and don't install any software that will let someone inside your computer.
99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

I think we are getting down to the real truth here. I suggest you go to a reputable local computer repair person - ask around there are plenty of us around - Have a new computer built for you with a legal copy of XP home or pro (Most of the mom & pop stores will still have copies). You will then have a local tech to teach you some of the ways to work WITH your computer instead of against the system. We all have some short-cuts - but you completely forgot to touch base. You my friend are not ready for VISTA so save us another long thread and get XP - FINI!!

..but i do concur that a good course of action here would be for Rahstyles to wipe off Windows and start again.

I dont have windows vista and i dont plan too.. i heard that vista has too many problems... Im trying to figure out what is wrong with my pc!?

Good Lord my child you have already told all of us what is wrong with your computer and the advice has been given. Here is your problem - and I quote you
"Okay the problem with that is.. a year ago my computer broke down and i took it into a local shop.. and my harddrive was messed up and my mother board andmy video card that was on the mother board was messed up.. so i bought a sata 500gb drive and a nidea graphics card and then the computer fix store bougththe mother board for me.. i dont know its some generic brand.. and then i called hp cumstomer service and i paid for recover discs for my comp.. and .. the indian guy that assisted me.. for some reson.. sent me the wrong recovery discs.. and my step dad.. Who works for a computer company.. .. install his copy of xp.. and now i got some realtek.. thingi that always needs to be on.. and .. anyways.. i dont got the recover discs.. i got the wrong ones
Recover discs only work with original factory equipment. Your HP is no longer an HP computer - Oh what's the use - get some pixie dust from inside the case and then put a new DVD in your DVD tray then sprinkle the pixie dust on top of the DVD and say WORK LIKE I WANT YOU TO. Everything should be OK then. If you have more problems read every other post in this thread and report back to us in a new thread called "They told me to do this - I did."

I'm gonna miss this thread, it's become an addiction for me. I've been arriving in work early each morning so I can check for updates.
Don't leave me just yet, I need you, just a couple more fixes and then I'll go cold turkey I promise.

it's going to be all that downloaded crap on your pc that's doing this, and that's why (a few posts up) i suggested wiping it all and starting again; i suspect your pc is in such a state (from you downloading all and sundry with no concept of what you're doing/what you're downloading) that you probably can't even guarantee the integrity of your personal files.

We're not uptight about torrents, it's the fact that torrents in the hands of people ill-equipped to handle them, coupled with a total inability to understand what you're doing wrong, never mind have no idea about following other people's advise on simple things, ARE DANGEROUS!.
