Hi Guys,
Im trying to use the chickHen exploit on my PSP1000 updated to 5.03 OFW and i can't get it to work for the life of me .
Ive put the files on my memory card in the correct folders but its not doing anything, the only effect i get from it is that it freezes and turns off sometimes.
Ive tried everything possible in the tutorial with no luck.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Right for those of you who are having the problems with chickHEN you need to turn on your PSP and go to Settings > Character Set and select US(437) then continue to do the chickHEN exploit as stated in post 1.
The reason for setting the character to US(437) is to ensure that the .tiff file is bottom of the list and that way this exploit will work.
This really should be added to the tutorial in post 1 for those people who don't know.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

Hey all. I'm interested in getting a NEW Japanese Mint Green PSP-2000 Slim (part of the Blume series) off of eBay (possibly for myself for Xmas) and I was wondering if it's fully 100% permanently hackable. I'd want to play ISOs of games like Hatsune Miku: Project Diva (both of them) and the newly released K-ON: Houkago Live!!, as well as any other game I happen to come across that would interest me. I'll be going to 2 animé conventions in the coming year and having a PSP with such functionality would help me pass the time waiting in line for panels awesomely.
Now, I've read someone's post on another site stating that he got this same PSP I want and it came with OFW 5.50. I've also come to understand (feel 100% free to correct me if I'm wrong) that with HellCat Recovery you can downgrade/revert any PSP to 5.03 or below. Is this true? I'd hate to keep having to apply the ChickHEN hack each time the PSP's battery were to die, or if I accidentally update it or reboot it. Also, if anyone here has above mentioned PSP, what motherboard version is it? Is it the HellCat Recovery-perma-mod capable one?

EDIT: After doing more research I've learned what motherboard revision the PSP needs to be, and I've watched several videos on how to go from any firmware revision to 5.50 Gen-D3. It's gotta be anything but TA-088v3 apparently. It looks like I'll need a Pandora battery and a Magic Memory Stick. That's fine. I'll get it from here should I decide to get this PSP:

Even if that MMS is just a 512 MB, it'll work just fine I'm sure.

Wrong, totally wrong. If you have the v3 motherboard, Pandora battery won't work, so your only choice of hacking that PSP would be using chickHEN and again, your only choice of using chickHEN is if your PSP is on 5.03 or below. Anything above and you are stuck with official firmware.

dont mean to bother you but i have a psp 3000 with firmware v4.4. If i did this tutorial, would it work and what other steps should i take to play back up games on it ?

Thanks for the clarification. :) The PSP I want that I mentioned above I learned has 5.03 or less on it since it was manufactured in December of 2008. Now if the mobo is indeed TA-088 v2 or less then I'm in business, correct? I have my eye on another PSP 2000 with 15 games as well. I also read more into it all and I'd prefer NOT to use ChickHEN if at all possible. I've watched a few YT vids of it being done and all they used was an MMS and a Pandora battery... no mention of ChickHEN at all.

With chickHEN you can put custom firmware on any PSP that is permanently modable without having to get (buy/make (in your case: BUY)) a Pandora.
@AlexJarvis: Yes, but not permanently. If your battery goes dead you revert back to official firmware.

ok bit of a noob but got the chickHen working fine..i have a ta-088v2 mobo will... before i continue which method do i choose considering i have a v2 and not v3
ok...got it working for any noobs like me anything less than v3 you use the second method with recovery flasher... got it on my first try tooo... thank you God... and thank u Pspgamen

Hi,
I got my PSP 1000 hacked and it works for most games.
except the latest games that just came out.
Winning Eleven 2011 when I try to run it there is an error message "The Game could not be started (80020148)"
I got from another website that I need to update my eboot file but I cant found it after the upgrade.
Anyone can help me out?

followed all of the directions from the guide. it took some playing with to get the chickHen to work (restarting, battery pull, reformatting,) but it went through and now system is 5.0 m-33! i'm transferring my games to the iso folder.
problem.. tried playing Madden10 and i get the error "The game could not be started. (80020148). does anyone know why this would happen? i thought it was the error code when you didnt have a umd in, but I do have one (an old one) but it's in.
does madden need a newer CFW?

Yea, get 5.00 M33-6 (not sure if you can go from m33 to m33-6 directly, therefore I would use M33-2, 3, 4 and 5 too, been a while since I have done this) and then get Pandora-4 for M33-6.
