Did you try going to the chickhen Photo folder and scroll down to the last file as fast as possible? it should work, but then i don't have a japanese psp version tho.
Try getting the version i used:

I got homebrew by using chickhen and cfw enable on my psp of 4.? non-hackable psp slim piano black without any problem.
Once you get it to played backup games, it gets boring, so i'd sold my psp.
I forgot to tell it's a PHAT/FAT psp. And i've tried versions of chickhen with various images, and ones with just the .tiff file.
still i haven't got it to work. HALP HALP HALP!
u have to put the file hen.rar in the same place u put the h.bin and the tiff will work it will take a few trys but it will work

Hooray!!! I found a great youtube video on how to upgrade from 3.40 OE-A to 5.00 M33-6 on a PSP fat 1001. Just got a couple questions on upgradng to 5.03. I downloaded the 5.03. The instructions say to create an UPDATE folder and put it in the GAME folder. Well, in my game folder I already have a RECOVERY folder from the 5.00 M33-6 FW. Can I just add the UPGRADE folder next to the RECOVERY folder and keep going, or do I have to delete the RECOVERY folder?

DuDeeesss i have psp phat in [5.50] :( how i downgrade that whithout using pandora stufff
to 5.03 ??? my psp was hack once but i make a really badly mistake and update the psp :( and now i have 5.50!!
any help??!!

hey thank you so much for this,
at 1st i was geting inpatience and when i was losing hope i don't now why but it came to me to remove the UMD so when i did that,i was barely getting into pictures and the flashing and color apeared then my psp came back and i whent to system info and there it was 5.03 ChickHEN yeahhhh im so happy lol ty again so much this was a got post 4 u to us or at least 4 me ty again and keep up the good work buddy

WTF!! is wrong with my psp? i have a psp 1000 fat, no matter what i put on the memory card it will say the file is corrupted, EVEN WHEN ITS NOT! what do i do? every file does not work, i've reset defalts, i've formated the stick, every thing, but no matter what goes on it it is corrupted in its eyes help!, btw i have 6.20 OFW

hello, i need help, anyone please? i have a fat psp and system version 5.01, i downloaded the two things that i needed to. i put the recovery folder in the psp/game. now... this is where i'm lost, "-Also copy the 5.0 official update renamed as 500.pbp to PSP/GAME/RECOVERY folder." I don't know where to find the 5.0 official update renamed as 500.pbp? help ! Also i have version 5.01 !!!!

Just go to your memory stick on your psp and go to games, it should just be listed there, just select it and press X

worked a treat i was on 3.03 original firmware now running 5.00 m33-6 using this tutorial only one question can i upgrade to 5.50 fairly easily by just putting the firmware in the psp game folder and booting from there.

Thanks for the guide. I decided to finally update my fatty from 3.8 something. Everything worked without any issues. I then followed a guide on another site to upgrade to 5.50 gen-d full. Sadly, there still isn't many good games to play on this thing.

Hi! I have a quick question. I'm currently in Japan and I'm thinking about buying a PSP 3000 here. However, I will only buy it if its hackable. Also, since I actually live in Europe, I need to be able to use it there with european games.
Can anyone tell me if this is feasible? I saw in several parts of the thread that the new mobo of the PSP cannot be hacked but I don't know if this situation is different now.
Sorry if the question is a bit dumb but I have 0 experience with PSPs.

I have followed everything step for step and no problem until I had to install the CFW.
I've got a PSP 1006 so I'm assuming this is the PSP classic or PSP slim?! Therefore I have downloaded and followed the last couple of steps where the recovery version is 1.60.
I have loaded OFW 5.03 and ChickHEN, my current system software information is: "Version 5.03 ChickHEN"
I run the "HC Recovery Flasher v1.60". Firstly I get a NOTICE which I agreed to and the it goes through to the program.
The version selected above is "Target FW: 5.00". I select the first option: Install CFW (of version selected above) and then select "do not reset (format) settings" and then "Yes, keep settings, I have faith!".
It then states that it's installing the firmware. The updater used to extract FW: 500.PBP. I get an error "Checking updater .PBP.... CHECKSUM FAILED!" and then it cancels the install.
I then try it for the second time with the same selections. I get the error "Extracting special updater .PRX...." Error 80020139 appears.
Please advise what to do???

Just wanted to throw out a TY for makin it so easy to cfw my psp.I upgraded to 5.03 ofw from 3.52 ofw. Then ran the ChickHen exploit as directed.Although software only showed 5.03 chickhen without the R2, I was able to upgrade to 5.00 M33-6 without any problems.You guys are awesome,being new to this I really appreciate it.

Thanks for making this guide, however, im having (a lot) of trouble getting Chickehen to run. I've tried a load of different files from other guides etc. and I still can't get it to work. Even the one-click easy installer didn't work on my system. I've got a FAT PSP1004, i've disabled USB and UMD auto-start, using US (437) character set, restored default settings and formatted my memory stick.I've tried chickhen files with just the tiff image, with the tiff and 4 gifs, with UMD in drive and out, everything I can think of but still no luck. When I go into Photos>mem stick>chickhen nothing happens. The images all load and nothing happens..If I open eggsploit, my PSP crashes and then SHUTSDOWN, it doesn't restart. On rare occasions it will freeze before the folder opens, and once or twice before the thumbnails load but again, it only ever shutsdown, it has never restarted. Any help would be much appreciated!
EDIT: Also I guess I should clarify I have updated my firmware to 5.03 and I don't know if it makes a difference, but my tiff image is always at the TOP of the list of images in the folder? Everywhere i've read it says to scroll down to the bottom for it, but its at the top for me so don't know if that is in any way relevant.

i have a psp 1000, i have the 5.03 installed with chickhen but i dont have the chickhen r2 does that make a differance? and when i click on the cfwenabler 3.60 it just restarts the psp

Ok I managed to get it to work, I tried all that and all it took was to use a different memory card and it worked first time lol. Don't see why since they're the exact same except different sizes but there you go! Heres hoping the rest goes smoothly now :P

Okay, so I have downloaded ChickHen but it shows up as ChickHen in the system information, not ChickHen r2. I don't understand... I followed the correct download links. After I tried downloading the CFW and installing it but it showed up as unsupported data. This is really frustrating, I would appreciate the help. Thank you - MastaBass

Okay, so i have followed all the instructions and links but it says 5.03 ChickHen in the system information instead of ChickHen r2. I tried the CFW after-wards and it showed up as Corrupted data when I tried to install it. I would appreciate the help. Thanks - MastaBass

I have a 1001 series psp and did not use the CFW application.After install of ChickHen I copied recovery flasher into GAME folder,then copied the 5.00 OFW into the recovery folder inside the flash folder.You will have to rename this folder to 500.PBP before moving.Disable USB from PC then go to games on PSP and open install program. Anyway, thats what I did.Mine did not say R2 either after ChickHen install. Good luck.
