Hey, thank you so much for this great guide, it was really simple too! I was going to ask my friend to borrow his hacked PSP slim 2000 (which used to be mine lol I sold it to him for 100 bucks) so I could hack my new God of War psp but I read through your guide and am glad to say that it was a success! Thanks a lot!

Just came across this site today trying to learn about homebrew and the psp. Ive been out of the psp loop for a couple years. This worked great though on my psp which had 3.95. Anyways, I just wanted to say thanks.

Yes these are the notes at the end of the installation instructions
- When you installed the custom firmware in your flash you can remove the "files" folder in the MS ROOT.
For your own safety, is better that you rename or erase the prx called "flasher.prx" in the MAIN APP folder to
avoid wrong flash times.
- If you shutdown the machine or the psp crash, you will need use again ChickHEN R2 to load the main app and press O
to reboot in the custom firmware, but if you dont shutdown the machine you are in the custom firmware forever.

k when you go to the photo folder you will see the options flash at the bottom right side of the screen you have to hit the x real fast soon as you see it flash.then it will open the folder with the eggs in it soon as you see the options flash again hit the x and then wait and look at the hard drive light to see if it is flashing. If it is wait and then the screen will go green and be all messed up and then it will restart. then you have to go into the game folder and run CFWEnabler.once you run that you should see your games. It takes a few times to get used to it,(to hit the x at the right time.)If you do it a few times and it dont work go to system setting and do a restore default settings.and try again to you get it. I have the psp madden 2001 and works great.

No, you can create the folders yourself on your computer. Make sure you mind the CAPS, they do matter. You'll be fine without formatting.

I have original PSP firware version 6.00 installed on my slim 2001. I can not go back to version 5.03. When I try it says no need to update newer version is installed. The 5.03 version you have a link to does not work at all it shows a corrupt file when I try to open it.
I got the Chicken Hen installed from your link and I only show 8 photos in the folder instead of 19 which is shown on a youtube video. The 8th image which is called slim will not load. I have tried 50+ times. Is this because I have firmware version 6.00? If so is there any way to go back to firmware 5.03?

You need to format the memory stick by installing it into your PSP.
Go to settings.... system settings.... format memory stick
This will install all folders into your memory stick

Do NOT try this on any PSP 3000 or PSP 2000 unhackable mobo's this is only for PSP Phat and 2000 hackable series.
This will permanently install CFW onto your PSP
ChickHEN must be enabled.
When I open my UMD door I can not even see a part of the circuit board. Does that mean I have the hackable or unhackable series? I see no marking what so ever. Do I need to take the PSP apart to know for sure?

Hello People, Sorry for this complete "noob" question. My girlfriend loaned me her PSP, its a 1001 fat version(I also picked up a 4 gig memory card). She was not using it at all and thought I would enjoy it. I jumped right in and updated the firmware to version 6... Then I started reading the forums... Sigh.. My question is simple. Can it be downgraded to 5.03 OFW without a Pandora battery and magic stick? I have been reading the forums and they some great guides and if its possible I am comfortable trying it. I just really don't want to brick it.
Thanks in advance.

Still at the same road block. I downloaded the PSPident file which is a .RAR file. It was not in a folder so I made as folder in my psp in the games directory title PSPIdent as shown on the tutorial ans put the file into that folder.
When I loaded the psp and went to start that file it shows corrupted data. I notice in the instructons that the ChickenHen must be enabled, but the entire start of this problem is because I can't enable the ChickenHen because I am running version 6.00. Should I skip step a and go to b for psp's you know are not hackable?

Chickhen - and therefore running pspident can only be done from firmware 5.03 - if you are on 6.00 it is never going to work.
If you have an unhackable PSP you still need 5.03 as to hack it you use Chickhen.
If you are sure it is hackable then Pandora is your only option, if its not hackable then you are stuck with official firmware

That's what I was afraid of. I just upgraded to 6.00 yesterday too! How can I know for sure if it is hackable with Pandora. I just bought a produo 16GB ms also. Will this memory stick work so all I need is a pandora battery?

So please let me know if there is anything I can do about this. I really wanna be able to like download "Tales of Destiny" and play it on there :P

No - if you try you will end up with a brick.
However there is rumour of an exploit using Medal of Honour UMD, nothing concrete as yet though. What ever you do, if you want CFW at some point I would not update

Hi, i'm trying to hack my psp , already have 5.03 and can't get chickhen to run. I've tried aroun 30 times. I've tried 3 different .tiff
and .bin files
I ve turned off the UMD autostart off.
i don't know where to turn the chace off (please tell me)
it either freezes when i go to the photos and shuts off, or i can see the thumbnail and nothing happens.
Its a Pink Psp (japanese) i know its hackeable. (IC1003)
any help? please!!!!

Did you try going to the chickhen Photo folder and scroll down to the last file as fast as possible? it should work, but then i don't have a japanese psp version tho.
Try getting the version i used:
ChickHENR2: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=X3G6KM0D
ChickHENR2 slim fix: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3SYFOY92
CFWEnabler: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=V1KJGQJP
I got homebrew by using chickhen and cfw enable on my psp of 4.? non-hackable psp slim piano black without any problem.
Once you get it to played backup games, it gets boring, so i'd sold my psp.
