I am running latest version of Azureus 2.1.0.4. My bandwidth is 1mb download and 256kb upload. The fastest speeds I ever seem to get is 80kbps download and 27 upload. However my upload speeds have dropped since using Azureus client. I used to use Shadows Experimental and always get steady upload of 27kbps. Now with Azureus I only get 20kbps upload max, and 70kbps download.
I would like to remain with Azureus as I like the queueing features.
Is there anything else I can do to optimise my upload, as I believe that is where I am suffering the most, and it is this which is cutting down my overall download speed as well. I use random high ports, as I know my ISP throttles the bandwidth on the commonly known Torrent ports.
Can anyone advise me what the best recommended settings are for this latest version of Azureus?
Also has anyone tried any traffic shaper software? Could I get faster upload speeds from prioritising Torrent traffic?
Any ideas will greatly help.

all u can do is upgrade your cable speed. i had 1.5 mbp and i wasn't too satisfy. than my cable company upgraded their speed. and now i have 4mb cable and i love it. i guess its all about your cable.

I'm with BT Yahoo broadband 1mb and I don't believe I am getting the speeds I should be. The upload bandwidth I get is terrible. And I'm already paying £30 a month for this priveledge. I can't really afford to upgrade at this stage. I just want to get the best out of what I have at the moment.

Check the link below and read the bit about D/l speeds, and what they mean. I too have a 256Kb upload speed but don't expect speeds higher than 30KB/s, anyway I don't think that having a huge upload speed will help your downloads.

I reckon you should expect maximum d/l speeds of 130KB/s.

Hi swisstony,
I see what you mean about the bits and bytes. So if I'm getting the expected upload speed from a 256kb upload connection, why is it that I never get the expected download speed from a 1m connection which I equate to be 1024kb divided by 8 = 128KB?
I always get a steady maximum 80 - 90 KB speed tops. I'm being ripped off by 30 - 40 kB download bandwidth.
Is there a solution to this problem?

That is a very good question, which to be honest, I don't know the answer. In theory you should get the full 130KB, but there may be other factors affecting this, such as shared pipeline?? Not too sure about this topic, so I won't venture too far into it.

From what I have read/heard, I am under the impression that with ADSL, the download and upload speeds aren't guaranteed, and if a number of people on the same telephone exchange are all downloading at one time, the D/l rate will be affected. I think cable broadbands are guaranteed, but wouldn't know coz I can't get cable broadband.

The answer is out there, it's just a case of getting those who know to respond. (can prove quite tricky)
