I'm not an expert that isn't kind enough to help ppl, I'm just sick of answering the same old questions over and over again and I'm tired of ppl trying to get spoon-fed all the time. You need to make yourself, don't let other ppl do it for you. What are you gonna do later on when YOU teach someone something and they say, "Cool! How'd you learn that?"
Do you want your answer to be:
"I didn't learn it very well. In fact, someone held my hand thru the entire learning process and I didn't get much out of it. I might as well have just sent them my PSP and had them do it themselves."
Or do you want your answer to be:
"I did the research and learned it."
I don't believe there isn't any coverage anywhere on the net about this. I think you should keep searching and not give up so easily.

So I downgraded back to 3.03 OE-C because I wanted to join in the fun. Very happy with my xmb now.
Let me know what you guys think, everyone's that I have seen on here looks sick.
My next tasks are to flash over Network Update with the Go To Recovery PRX, and maybe add the coldboot and xmb sounds from Bogus Firmware 1.00
Does swapping the coldboot mess with the PSX emulator, or was that just gameboots?

You won't want to update if you value your custom backgrounds. (Wallpapers) I have done this and have helped other ppl do this and have found the ONLY drawback is that gameboots will NOT show if you have a custom wallpaper set.
You can find many nice monthly background (months 01-12) colours in the bogus FW, and other ppl have submitted nice colours for the monthly backgrounds. (01-12 - Check Maxconsole)
There are a bunch of files that you will apply to 3.03 OE-C when using the bogus FW, so I am not able to tell which file is causing the gameboot error.
Otherwise, if you can part w/ your custom backgrounds, go for it b/c it's sick.
EDIT: This SHOULD NOT mess w/ the PSone emu, but other ppl I have helped have had problems. I have not had any problems and have done every upgrade from the bogus FW. I do know a few other ppl who have not had problems, so just keep a backup of 3.03 OE-C DXAR handy OR - you can take a copy of your F0 to desktop in case it doesn't work out.

Cheers for the advice Guano, I am gonna change the xmb sounds but leave the coldboot alone for now. I have seen the custom backgrounds and stuff but just prefer having a background set rather than the custom waves or anything.
To change the text in the XMB from Network Update to Recovery Mode, I need to open up topmenu_plugin with a hex editor and find the right bit to change? I used a hex editor way back when to get an ISO to work (think it was megaman) so I am just gonna refresh myself with it. I dumped my flash0 to my PC, so I'm gonna make another copy of the topmenu to have a look at.
So whats the list of your mods now? Have you flashed over all of the unecessary prxs on the xmb with good stuff?

o thats a hot mod- netwrk update to recovery mode. mine just reboots and then i hold r. but to right to recovery is cool too. nice.

im sorry that im asking this again. but im really worrid about my psp right now.
i have 3.03 oe-c brick. the recovery menu works. but doesnt bring me back to fw 1.5., so i was wondering if anyone has a working recovery folder i can download. or tell me how to flash my psp back.

use my OE-recovery winstaller. it has files for 1.50, 3.03 OE-C, and 3.10 OE-A.

IT WORKED GREAT! it turned out that i was right. the recovery folder i got was messed up and couldnt do the job right. now i can start over with all the modding! thanks! im back to a great 3.03 oe-c firmware and ready to start over! first off! the wave!

Yea, I have some sick mods. Nothing out of the norm tho. Except, I put my reboot prx in the Saved Data location b/c it's convenient and I also put one under the Network Update location, just b/c. I have dummied my fonts so I have 2.5MB free in my F0 and I've done my XMB FULL custom, sweet backgrounds, done the bogus FW updates (coldboot intro screen, tried the XMB, got the sounds, the GAME menu icons, the new colours for backgrounds - had hex make them into a 01-12.bmp, and all that.)
I don't really have anything special that's not already out there or that most ppl don't already have b/c I can't program. (I wish I could.)
That's it... What do you have?

this is what i got so far. i edited my waves in the background to be all crazy all the time. they come up different every time i turn on the PSP. i basically went with a sleek look right now with the black background, need a better font for this theme. any suggestions?:

I just need to know how to hex edit my XMB labels but I don?t know which .rco file it is. I also wanna try to get the waves to be colored. Ill be back next week

you have to go to recovery mode and go into one of the folders and change the 01-12.bmg file. its the only file with that type of paint shop pro image. i cant remeber the name, just search around. but i changed it to stevens .bmp or bmg file or whatever its called. it tight though. do you like it?

Here's my homemade Vista theme.. Maked the folders myself..

Now with my homemade bootsound! It's the Vista startup sound! Download the theme pack at the bottom! (Rermember to backup your original opening_plugin.rco before you replace it!

@ djmazz: Yea, there is one way to change the text w/o a hex editor. I can't remember the tool, but send me a PM as a reminder (b/c I'll forget otherwise) and I'll send you the tool. It's limited in its functionality tho, as it only edits:
Settings/Photos/Music/Video/Game
But that should be good enough, right?
