It's probably a case of bad media or your laser's dirty. Get some quality Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim 4x or 8x media and clean your laser. This FAQ contains info on both.

I use DVD-R Verbatim Advanced Azo+ 16x burned at 4x .
Can't seem to find 8x media anywhere.I believe 16x are good anyway..
So,is it ok to rebuild games even if it's not necessary ?
Seems to be easy anyway..using the Expert soft.
The Ps2 is a v12 ,only few months old, it has a laser fix but the laser seems kinda of noisy. Will rebuilding help something ?

Probably not. Rebuilding games takes out stuff like dummy files, and pushes the data closer together on disc, which is bad for the PS2 laser. It's spread out for a reason, dummy files help the game to load better. Swap Magic users often don't have a choice, but if you have a chip, there's no reason you should ever have to rebuild games. I haven't rebuilt a single game since switching to Taiyo Yuden, except for experimental/tutorial purposes. The 16x media could definitely be the issue it just gives the PS2 fits. You can still get 8x Taiyo Yuden's online.

8x Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's:

The 200 pack is on sale for $59+shipping, that's the cheapest I've ever seen TY's.

DVD-R-media.html" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-silver-thermal-8x-DVD-R-me...

I've got 150 PS2 backups on TYG02 with zero coasters.

First try cleaning your laser with a Q tip and rubbing alcohol.

What kind of media are you using, what's the Media ID?

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/
Compare the Media ID to this link: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

TY0G2..or something like that. i'm at work right now so i'm just going off of memory, but these are ty's i bought from off of rima.com. all my other backups work with little to no problems, but these two games just lag in the load time.

I guess you could try a rebuild. Lately I've seen some reports of potential bad TYG02's from rima, though nothing concrete. I'd just try rebuilding them. I know Mercs is around 4.37GB's, not sure about Def Jam. Theoretically you shouldn't need to rebuild games with a chip, but there are rare exceptions. I've never had to rebuild a game since switching to Taiyo Yuden's. I did a couple times starting out when I was using RitekG05 and CMC Mag (Yes even the mighty used CMC Mag at the beginning- one 15 pack anyway).

well i bought 100 of em. It sucks if they are fakes (although not much I can do now) it's crazy cause they are supposed to be on of the best media sites. I try a rebuild and see what happens. thx

They won't be fakes, I meant that I've seen reports of bad batches of TY's from rima.com recently. I've personally never ordered from there, so I can't say. Chances are the games just need rebuilt, most likely it's a simple issue.

11. Q. How Do I rebuild games?
A. With Nero and Isobuster (works as long as no single file is over 2 GB's): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/197949
With CD/DVDGen: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/210515
With Expert (Gnie's new rebuilding tool):
Gnie's PS2 Auto Rebuilder Tool Download (Thanks to 3DLuis):
http://www.alucard.cc/ps2/ExPERT_v1.03.rar
Instructions to Gnie's Tool ExPERT From Paddymail:

Here's how to use it.. it might not work for all games though.

Open the program.

1. Select the Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins drop down list.
2. Select the iso you want to rebuild.
3. Click extract LBA.
4. Click extract file and wait for it to finish.
5. Click rebuild file and wait for it to finish.
6. Click rebuild LBA.
7. Burn the new iso with Nero or DVD Decrypter as usual.

Well don't jump to conclusions yet, you didn't necessarily get a bad batch, two games not working isn't a big deal, I bet a rebuild will take care of them fine.

Im trying to get the Tony Hawk Underground lost levels + online so I have ripped the game with I patched the wad file so it should have the game now I need to know how to rebuild it so I can use Image Patcher to make it able to be online, but I can't figure out how to rebuild it UltraISO seems to be the only one that will do it, but it wont save iso bigger than 300mb on a trial =\ trust me I tried to fix that it doesnt seem to want to work, and I heard Isobuster can do it,but I dont see how, the problem I think is I need to save the iso on the computer again so I can patch it I dont want to burn it right away.

That doesnt look like how to rebuild it, looks to complicated didn't look like what I was looking for either it looks like you burning straight to disc instead of getting an iso file first. If what I did already doesnt work ill try that.

Rebuilding with Nero and IsoBuster is a snap. It sounds like you're being lazy to me man, between not searching and even trying rebuilding before dismissing it. The info's there, if you choose not to use it, that's your choice.

I used something alot easier (if it worked right that is), im not beind lazy im just saying its confusing, also last time I check Nero was just for burning, I think isobuster should have an option to just recompile the folder you extract the iso to back into an iso, wouldnt that make sense? thats what I did basically with UltraISO.

Rebuilding with Nero and IsoBuster is very easy.

1. Extract game files to a folder with IsoBuster.

2. Select UDF/ISO DVD in Nero.

3. Copy and Paste all game files into Nero (order doesn't matter), make sure no multisession is checked, write is checked, and you burn at 1/2 the max speed of the disc onto quality media.

4. Click Burn.

That's it. If you can't follow Hursty's guide, you need to read up on backing games up a little bit. There's stickies at the top of the forums which will get you started. Like I said the information is there. What you choose to or not do with it is up to you.

-_- maybe we both can't read then I already stated I DON'T want to burn the iso right away I want the patch/rebuilt iso on my computer before I burn it. btw Hursty guide(which seems to do what I want)was on the 4th page which I skipped and decided to post to prevent reading time, lazy yes but, It was more me not wanting to wait to do this.
