You can, but all the rebuilding programs are designed to work with Iso files. DVD Decrypter is the most commonly used program to create DVD Image Iso's. Do you have some issues with DVD Decrypter?

The best way is to use DVD shrink to shrink the game, then use DVD decrypter to write the game.

DVD Shrink doesn't work on PS2 games mate, it's only for movies. Shrinking PS2 games involves extracting both layers with IsoBuster Pro/Apache 2 and and rebuilding the iso with CD/DVD Gen, IML2ISO and downsizing tools like rip kits and Sonix' tools.

Sorry for late reply, but in regards to Smackdown vs raw 2006, it is the NTSC version, and its a rip off the real legit store copy.
Stuck in my pc and let DVD Decrypter do its thing.
I burnt one on a Memorex that loaded perfectly fine (albeit slow load times) before I knew about media quality playing a role.
Then burnt another one onto a Sony higher quality DVDR, with fine load times.
This is with swap magic 3.6 I got for xmas.

Wrong forum indeed. You'd need an original copy, MC exploit, or modchip, or Swap Magic to boot a backup of ARMAX. I'm not positive about Swap Magic. Post in a more relevant forum, this is for patching and rebuilding games.

I have a couple of games that i dont have the file order for and have deleted the original iso's. I have tried a few different file orders with no luck and have been trying to guess them by looking at other games with similar file names. Is there a common file order in which i can burn these games? Windows has put them in alphabetical order conveniently without asking
Thanks

If you use Nero to burn a UDF/ISO DVD, the file order doesn't matter. Just drag and drop all your game files in Nero, and it'll sort them correctly when it burns.

Dunno exactly, I'd imagine based on the file structure. As long as you have all the game files in their original folders (i.e. right after you extracted the iso), then it should work fine.

Tokijin is right. I just burned a copy of Midnight Club Dub Edition Remix, and since I took all of the dummy files out, the rest of the files were placed in a different order. I just put them into Nero and the finished product was a working game! I still haven't tried to race online yet tho but the point is that putting the files in a specific order is useless to me.

When you paste/drop your files into Nero, it automatically puts them in alphabetical order. However, it burns them in the correct order, regardless of the order they appear in when you load your game files into Nero.

well I cant get it to work, and dont really see how it would work as there is no real way of Nero knowing which files to put in what order surely? if Nero knew then surely one of you guys would be able to tell me a common order for the files?

It definitely works, I've rebuilt plenty of games with Nero and IsoBuster, the file order doesn't matter, they all work. Either you are missing some files, or using crappy media. Are you selecting UDF/ISO DVD, it's the last option under Nero Burning ROM under the DVD menu.

yes mate,
Someone mentioned in another forum that it might be a protected game which requires an order for it to work, so maybe thats it?
The files are all there as it was created from an iso of a working copy, which was deleted
anyway, ive given up trying with this game for now, until I can find the correct file order. I'm using tdk -R disks which after alot of trial and error i find my playstation likes the best.
Im using swap magic 3.6, and the 'not a valid ps2 disk' comes up similtaneously when pressing the x button which in my experience usually always means the files are in the wrong order and it gives up on the first hurdle

If you're using TDK, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the media. If it's Made in Taiwan TDK media, it could be CMC Mag. That could definitely be the cause. The file order isn't the issue. There's only one mod protected game for the PS2 that I know of, Rugby League 2. It was never even released in the US. The media is the most likely cause.

Will try it mate,
Doubt it though. I use them as they are the ones out of all the media that I have tried that give me the best results, have tried numerous media types, verbatim, memorex, maxell, Taiyo Yuden, and have experienced alot of skipping etc. the TDKS for some reason give me flawless back ups every time? Dont get me wrong, Im not putting any other media down just find that my ps2 likes them. Hes a funny f***er like that :.)lol

Make sure your firmware is up to date, burner is in DMA mode, you close all programs while burning, and that you're using quality 4x or 8x media. Try burning slightly slower or faster. If you haven't defragged in awhile, do so. The most likely cause is the media, you'd be amazed how often when it's one or two games that won't boot, the cause is crap media. Even if you buy the TDK at the same store, the variability of the Media ID is probably great. Download DVD Identifier, check your discs, and post the results.

Do i need to rebuild even if i have a modchip and the dvd is not so scratched ?(meaning it seems to work with Alcohol..) .
I am concerned about the loud noises the laser makes and i read rebuilding can make the game run smoother .
So it can't hurt to rebuild every game, right?
Is the Expert tool as good as the Apache + Cd/Dvd Gen ?
