thanks for the info, that was my next question. When I extracted FIXVTS I had to create a folder for it and in it was only a .exe icon. There was no files or program folder in my c:\ and when I went to add/remove programs it was not there. Also I could not find an option for it in rip4me, hence the integration, am I correct? So, if shrink gives me a problem, do I just open fixvts and do what? Once again thanks for the assistance. It really is a great learning op.

You should be prompted to use FixVTS if using the wizard, if in 1-click mode you can set Ripit to automatically clean the files with FixVTS via the preferences...doing so on each title won't hurt anything.

This is most important.. Looks like a good dose of STFU is more than overdue.
Just because they say you are being paranoid doesn't mean they aren't watching you.. For all anybody knows I could be an MPAA spy, quietly logging IP's of downloads and watching who is talking about what.. and who is posting information to help people to break this stupid draconian law!!

I think there is a bit of paranoia going on relating to this "you are being watched" thing.

Whoever is behind this is getting some free scare tactic benefits without them having to do anything. Pretty good trick.

Not quite the same thing as monitoring people who are personally uploading songs where they could try to calculate some monetary damages. About the only thing I can think of where they would be interested, is if someone was using these ripping programs to make copies for sale (Piracy) or giving them away online.

I don't pay these kind of rumors much mind. What I am much more concerned about is the direction the copy protection stuff is apparently or possibly heading. If the recording industries had their way, each song or movie would be like Windows, having to buy a separate one for each machine you would play it in. Stuff like the OS, AMD, Intel doing more things technogically to allow the recording industries to have complete control on any actions you had (even playing) where it could block any action it wanted to, where copying anything would become obsolete. Now that's the stuff I think about relating to this, our hobby of copying our personal media going the way of the dinosaur.

MikeO89, your absolutly right, if anybody was watching dont forget they would be watching anybody using clone and AnyDVD etc, its all hogwash, are they really watching, maybe, but who cares, dont forget making a copy for your own store bought stuff for your own personel use the law is still up in the air here in the states anyway, besides just like you said they do watch who downloads from the net is a no-no and pirates who sell, thats who they watch, if your not doing any one of those, dont get paranoid you got nothing to worry about, unless some fed has a personel nut against you, than they can do whatever they want to bust your agotts.

thanks AA> I appreciate the help. Ont thing i noticed is when i open up ripit4me. I have version 1.7.0.112 and in preferences there is no section about opening fixvts automatically. Where it show fixvts settings on the right in the instructions, it says FIX VOBS instead. Is this the same?...if not how do i need to use fixvts to correct the vobs??

thanks again...also just as something to think about i use Titlewriter and that program allos me to take just the movie and add the orig menu back in automatically using DVD Shrink. You guys outta check it out.

hey whats up everyone. i've been a user of ripit4me and decrypter as well as shrink for around 6 months now. just recently i have started getting problems with my backups. now when i make a copy all that i get is the audio to the movie not the visual. which i find weird because shrink shows the video in the preview, yet in the final product i just get audio.

any suggestions?

try doing a clean reinstall of all you're burning software

make sure you have the latest firmware update for you're drive/burner

use good blank media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim

try another program like CloneDVD 2 + AnyDVD and see if you have the same problem.

you may have a bad burner if all else fails

For those interested in the demise of the Digital Digest Forum and my beloved RipIt4Me along with FixVTS here is the lowdown.

Quote:
It was Sony - the company that gave us such great things as audio CDs you cannot copy to your MiniDiscs, rootkits on our PCs, exploding notebook batteries and BD+, is also the culprit behind the takedown of RipIt4Me and FixVTS. While the proceedings appear to have been secret and the involved parties still cannot give any details, the Federal Court of Australia is keeping meticulous records. In looking through the documentation available online, we see that Sony filed a copyright lawsuit against Digital Digest on March 16th. 3 days after, the court granted the first search warrant. Looking through it reveals that they were after anything related to RipIt4Me - starting with its use, its users and ending with its development, and about circumventing Sony's ARccOS DVD corruption mechanism. Thereafter, we have orders that hint towards the secrecy of the proceedings (I'd be very interested if somebody living down there would go down to the registrar and asked to see all documentation related to the case - this cannot be done online and I live a tad bit too far away to try it myself), another search order against blutach. Then on the 30th of March, the court orders a fishing expedition on items seized at blutach's residence - looking for information on the development of RipIt4Me and any activities of anybody involved in RipIt4Me development. The order specifically mentions jeanl. Two days later, the RipIt4Me website is down an jeanl takes an extended time-out from visiting DVD backup related websites.

The final order from May 3rd also explains why there are no DVD backup forums at Digital Digest anymore - the admin has effectively been barred from providing support for any website that helps people copy DVDs.

So far so good, a few questions remain though: The case is listed in the copyright section - so how exactly can RipIt4Me infringe Sony's copyright (note that it's the arm of Sony that makes ARccOS that filed the suit, not the movie studio arm)? Towards that end, access to any filed documentation would be really useful.

Then there's the matter of any proceedings in the United States. Unlike the original case, a few minutes of searching didn't yield anything yet, but I'm not a 100% sure where to look either (admittedly, finding the proper court was a stroke of luck that Google made possible) - whether it would be in California District court, or in a district court of one of the two Sony DADC offices in the US, or Federal court (and in which circuit).

You can still use this program for many movies, don't know what the future holds but hope another program comes along that works as good.

For some reason RipIt4Me isn't working. When I run the Wizard Mode or 1 Click Mode the FixVTS option doesn't appear after I start the program. I've followed all the steps and nothing seems to work.

All I get is the movie under an image file.

The last time used the program (Ripit4me+DVD Decrypter+DVD Shrink) everything worked fine.

Hi,
I have a problem and I don't really know if this is the place to ask. I used Ripit4me two days ago and since then, my laptop is taking really long to start-up.

The main problem is that my laptop stops at the initial black screen w/ the Windows XP logo (and the progress bar) for about 2-5 mintues before loading my desktop. Initially, the XP logo screen showed up only for about 10-15 seconds before loading my desktop. Once windows fully loads (which takes a little longer than normal) things work smooothly. I have completed all checks for possible malware/viruses, but found none.

I have Ripit4me v. 1.7.0.0 and it worked fine w/o causing this problem when I used it about three months ago. While burning the ripped dvd, it took about 35-40 minutes. It usually takes only 14minutes (max). Do you think this is a problem w/ hardware? The laptop was really hot when the ripping was complete. (and the ripping took about 3 hours - DVD decrypter and DVD shrink processes included).

Thanks!

you might try deleting all the files that rit4me uses to make the rip. When you go to close it it will tell you to go to view log or something to that effect. delete the files and once you've burned the dvd delete the files in the ripit folder and the iso to save HDD space. Also defrag your computer often. A full/fragmented HHD will run and load slower. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for your reply. I performed complete disk defrag using RAXCO Perfect Disk 8.0
Once the Windows loads, everything is fast. However, as I mentioned earlier, the black screen with the XP logo still stays on for a while. My laptop loaded really fast before I used Ripit4me. I wonder if one of the hardware burned out.

Here's my system memory report:
Total available memory: 504MB
Available physical memory: 74MB
Memory load: 84%
Total virtual memory: 1229MB
Available virtual memory: 831MB

Does this say anything? Any other suggestions? Thanks a lot!

finally,

@arniebear
I checked my DMA settings. Everything looked fine. Thanks anyway.

Buy yourself some more Ram, you don't have enough to do anything no wonder things are so slow. Shutdown some of your programs that are starting up and are unnecessary.

Arniebear has a point, I forgot to mention that. What works for me before I use ripit, is shutting down all the programs running in the background. Go to start, run, then type in msconfig, go to the startup tab, (before you "un" check the boxes, write them down so you can check them again when your down) Un check all the boxes and restart your computer. Once you burn your rip/burn your back up, go back and re-check your start up boxes. This should also give you better success with your back ups, good luck!
