Having a Hard drive for PS2 i dnt need to make backups lol i just download the games and transfer them straight with an Ethernet Cable from the PC. It takes bout 80 mins per game for some reason, but they woork fine. Though for copying movies and other things i havnt had a hitch with RiDiscs just burn em at 2x speed and u'll be fine. Ive burnt a few games too like the Final Fantasy XII demo and it seems to work fine even with my cousins swap magic. I recently downloaded Rogue Galaxy Jap version, good game action-wise though i cant tell what the hell im doing and the cutscenes get annoyingly boring. Feels like another Dark Cloud 2, really, if anyone heres played that...

Yeah the PS2 HD is cool. I could get a HD and install HD Advance to my MC. It'd be pretty sweet with a my Matrix Infinity. No discs, no need for a crappy MC exploit, and it'd support multi disc games and PAL games perfectly.

Tokijin DQVIII's taking too long im getting pissed off lol i was playing SMT Lucifers Call until i died against matador (difficult) i couldnt be bothered training and my Rogue Galaxy finished today so i started playing that. Its quite fun but no English means 71% of the funs removed lol. If DQVIII gets done ima put all my efforts into that. currently on 72.17%... Torrents, of course...

That would be a tough one. You could download the NTSC version and patch it to PAL. Are you using Swap Magic or a modchip?

Well BitTorrent is the most common way. You can get tons of newer games. It's easy to use, but sometimes the download speed is mediocre. It rarely takes full advantage of your high speed connection, since it depends more on people seeding the games and their upload speeds. In other words you can only download as fast as they can upload. Newsgroups are supposed to be fast, but most of the good ones cost money. There are free Newsgroups out there, you just have to look around. There are "warez" sites, which are supposed to be real fast, but they cost money as well. BitTorrent may have it's haters, but for me it's the still the easiest way to get games, movies, and anime.

9. Q. Where can I find PS2 games to download?
A. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/249297

98. Q. How do I use Bittorrent? I don't understand any of this stuff about clients, seeds, and torrents, can you help me?

@ 2IIPack

You could always try mIRC...download it at www.mIRC.com & I'd search google for a setup tutorial & user guide, but bittorrent is much easier to use.

@Tokijin

I hope you don't think I was taking a shot at you when I said bittorrent is so simple a child could use it. You are one of the most relevant posters in this section. I wouldn't want to offend.

No that was a joke. I'm well aware of BT's limitations. I choose to use it because I'm too lazy to use warez sites, Newsgroups, or IRC. I will in time. It's simply low on the totem pole right now. Cheers!

I'm not too sure, never used it. I've heard Newsgroups allow you to get your max download speed. I've never used them either. I might try Warez sites, Paddymail told me about them and they sound interesting.

I dont' care what anyone says, swap magic is great. It's cheap, and it works. I modded my PS2 for 25.00 lol.

I'd rather pay that, then pay someone to MOD the chip in place for who know show much. I am a tech support guy so i don't mind all the converting, burning, ripping, burning again lol.

It's fun, and the tape method made me laugh with the PS2, same as my friends, hey it works.

That's great. Stick with Swap Magic if it works for you. Get a good modchip and see how often you use Swap Magic. If you have the money, there's no reason to get Swap Magic over a modchip.

A short cut to rebuilding for HD ADVANCE users (without the version 3)

I am fairly new to re-building but have done a couple. I followed Alkohol's guide for 50 Cent bulletproof just to gain the experiance.
Unfortunateley my back-up disc did'nt work with HDA or with swap magic so I tried a shortcut to the process that I have used before.

1) Rip the ISO to your PC
2) open the ISO with Iso buster (or others if u like)and extract the files to a new folder of your choice.
3)open Nero burning rom, select DVD format, and the create UDF/ISO disc (last option at the bottom)and select NEW.
4)Copy the files from your new folder over to the left pane of Nero in the order they appeared in ISO buster.
5) Burn the re-built image (to a new folder on your PC)
6) Transfer the file to your PS2 HDD via HDL_Dump or WINHIP (which ever you like) I think I selected mode 3 for 50 Cent and it works fine.

Try it out.
I don't think it works for swap magic users but it is very simple to follow and works for HD Advance people.

I used the same method for Starwars battlefront 2 aswell but the SYSTEM.cnf file needed to be edited with notepad to read SWBFRONT.ELF and saved back to the extracted folder before creating the new ISO with Nero.

I hope this helps.

P.S. Maybe this site could do with a sub forum for HDA users.

PC Specs: CPU-C2D E8400, M/B-P5N-E SLI, RAM 4Gig OCZ Platinum rev2 ,VGA- Nvidia 8800GT 512MB, HDD- Hitachi Deskstar SATAII 1TB, 250Gig Maxtor IDE HDD.

Well...mIRC is as fast as the bot you are downloading off of. If it's some home user then you can expect the same old crap speeds, but I only download from bots rooted to edu/gov servers etc... and they transfer from 100kb/s-2500kb/s it all depends. The best part about "the scene" is the way items are packaged. By the time things filter down to bittorrent I think they've mostly been extracted to image already, and therefore defeat the purpose of the brilliant packaging and distro system.

@
alkohol & Tokijin

Guys I rely on your posts almost every week, so if either of you ever want a quick tut on mIRC just holla. I could put one together with some screenshots, or you could jump on my clans ventrilo server and I could walk you through it.

Thank you. Maybe I'll take you up on that sometime. I have the time to learn it, I'm just lazy lol. It seems that most knowledgable users are leaving BT for faster downloads. Cheers!

@novadrago

Xenosaga Episode 1 (US) sounds good, I actually got them to work this time. I've captured tons of screenshots on my hard drive ready to put on a guide and will soon add to my "Easy Method" here soon. I've been busy with works and all. Maybe later on tonight if I have the times, then I'll post the Xenosaga guide here, for you or those that needed.
