I dont have V3C. In any case, the standard generic USB cable that came with my digital camera will allow me to charge the phone and maybe access MPT, but it definitely will not allow me to use P2K. So, back to my original question, anyone know how to tell if one is getting a data cable or standard USB cable when buying from Ebay?

To get the VC3 to work with the multimedia studio all you need to do is let the RAZR load as it normally would and then you see the greyed out multimedia button. I did this with MPT 3.28

Then hit the center button > setup > general setup > then click the communication tab > then change modem > then hit next > the select motorola USB modem then hit next > then check the box that says "do not automatically detect the driver. Select from List" then hit next > then highligh motorola CDMA > then scroll down to E815m > then hit finish then OK.

If you go through these relatively easy steps you can use the multimedia studio. I sent a few edited MP3s to my VC3 and it worked fine and set itslef as the ring tone perfectly. I hope this helps everyone out.

ok guy i see a lot of you are having problems with gray mutimedia icon.. here is what u have to do in order to make it work, basically u need to choose v3cm and not v3c:
(make sure your cell is connected)

To manually select V3cm...start MPT....From MPT'S menu button select setup... General Setup....Communication tab .... Change Modem....click Next....in the select device screen, highlight your Moto USB modem or Bluetooh Modem (depends how your connecting)......click Next.....Check the box for "Do not automatically detect the driver. Select from a list."... click Next...Select CDMA from the left column.....scroll on the right & select V3cm....click Next...click Finish....hit OK...Thats it!!! I just woke up so I hope I explained it correctly

I have the same problem as cifasy with my three v220 phones. Could the phone be locked? I'm not sure what this means or how to unlock it. I'm just grasping for straws.

Hey cifasy,

I got my v220 to connect!!!! I went to Cingular's website and downloaded the communication manager program. I just followed instructions and it set up the phone correctly and that program worked. Then I went back to the mobile phone tools program. Ran through it for the one hundredth time, and it now works! Gone is the little red X and all the side buttons work. I guess the Cingular program corrected whatever was wrong with the setup.
