Been using Memorex from the start and not one coaster. They work for me so I'm gonna stick with em. Its funny how they can work so well for some and the rest absolutely hate them...

well. i have used memorex for a while. from the start actually. i have used OVER 600 of them. i had no problems with them, thats what i thought anyway. i have been going back and watchin some of them. i have started to get some bad ones. they burn fine, but the playback is bad. glitches and skipping. when i clean them, they wont even read. so i am switching to ridata. BEWARE OF MEMOREX!!!

I haven't had any problems with them whatsoever. They have been perfect for me.

Very true...plus take into account everyone's setup is completely different.

Like I read alot of the posts here about having problems with Decrypter, AnyDVD, and Shrink...never had a single issue with any of them.

But it is all about the setup.

The mixed reviews on Memorex is due to the fact they have many manufacturers - CMC, Ricoh, Infodisc, Prodisc, and Moser Baer. I used the Memorex 4X DVD+Rs with i.d. ricohjpn, the same i.d. sold under more expensive Fuji, TDK, Sony, and Maxell. I couldn't understand why Memorex had such a bad rap but then realized I must have had the last few spindles made under Ricoh because the new ones were made by CMC, followed by Infodisc, Prodisc, and now Moser Baer. Will the real Slim Shady, please stand up? ;)

worse. thats the ones i started having problems with. i have used about 3 spindles of them and have had 30+ coasters. not sure if its due to the media, but i havent had that problem till cmc started making them.

so is there any way to know what you're getting before you buy it? or do you just have to take your chances with the manufacturer?

It's like a roll of the dice. If you want to take a risk with that memorex media. I'll just stick with the good stuff like ty/verbatim data life plus, as well as the maxell and sony's that are made in japan.
I'd still like to try out those fuji +8x-made in japan. Not a single issue right now,so i will try to keep it this way.

I guess in the whole scheme of things, everyone has a particular media that they are going to swear their life too. ;)

Like I choose Memorex, cause when I first heard about DVD burning, that was what she used. And so that is what I used.

Have never had a single issue, and they have worked in every player I have tried them in.

But I know that not everyone has the same setup as mine, so that is just my 2 cents on it.

I say, if it works for you use it! :)

What are the media codes on the Memorex you use? Maybe they are the only good ones. :)

LOL!

You got me ScubaBud...but I know there is a program here on aD that can tell.

If you know the program I can find out.

Funny about that though...I used to only buy them at Staples, till they JUMPED in price, now I get the at Circuit City.

Other than that, I can't find much of a difference.
