@ScubaBud,

What do you pay for your Memorex DVD's
Well, before I got it at Staples for like $26, but they were on sale, THEN, I went to Circuit City, where it is selling for like around $40. So, unless they are on sale, I will still be going to Circuit City.

and have you done a DVDInfoPro Scan of a burned disk from a while ago to see if it is still OK?
Nope...but I will...for everyone to see, but can't locate the program that is associated on the site that is on your pic that you have on your post.

Can you tell me the link?
Quote:
Maybe you could post it here also.
Most definately...I don't mind, cause I would like to know, since I am interested in knowing this info too.

This link bypasses their main page. They do a great job of hiding the free version. <G>

Also, was that $26 for a 100 pack or 50 pack?

Thanks

@ScubaBud...

Thanks for the link...give me a couple of minutes, and I will post my results. I have a dvd that I made almost a year ago, so that will be my guinea pig!

That was for only a 50pk. I would have gone the whole 100 but never do.

Ok...quick update...LOL!

I didn't know it was going to take this long...thought it was going to be quick.

Hey all,

Just got the results back in from the DVDInfoPro.

Now, I scanned a dvd that I made in July of 2004, not much to say about it, but it is almost been a year. This dvd is the Quick and the Dead (not that it matters) and was burned on Memorex media (just like the ones in my previous post), and here is what I got:

Here you go, ScubaBud, as promised. :)

Thanks...I got them all at the same place, well, let me rephrase that, this set came from Staples near me.

My more recent dvds from this year and part of last year, came from Circuit City.

What I will do next is post one that I just burned 4 days ago, and this set would have came from Circuit City, but check back here, cause I will post it as soon as I am done.

;)

@nohelpme

Make sure the screen that you want to take a pic of is active, no other screen should be active.

The command is:

ALT + Print Screen (Gotta thank Taz for this one)

Then go into any paint program and paste it in there, save it, then there you go!

Good job and nice burn on that one. It's the exact same media as the one I posted with all the errors. I also have good ones from a year ago along with the bad. That seems to be part of the problem plus they don't play on some DVD-ROM players and Portable DVD Players. But if you guys like to pay more for them and love them that much, then go ahead! LOL

Different subject now. The bmp file you loaded is over a million bytes, 1,274,686 total. I would take that same image and save it as a jpg or redo it and post a smaller one here. People with dial up modems will be here forever downloading this page. :)

Will do! LOL!

I totally forgot about that...shame on me for thinking that everyone had hi-speed internet.

Sorry folks! :)

Almost done with my more recent one.

BTW, I changed the format so it is in .jpg.

Shocking isn't it...I know I am! LOL!

But I might just switch anyways, just to test other ones out.

Its there near the test you just did with DVDInfoPro. It says PI/PIF and the DVD needs to be in the burner for it. Just curious to see what it does.

Just to let you know, I just burned "Finding Neverland" again, but this time I used Memorex DVD-R ProsdiscS03 at 4X in my 4X Burner on my test bench and it to came out flawless. I've used them for over a year with my old burner and had some problems here and there. But honestly, they won't work in my Asus burner which is really an NEC since that is what the chips are inside it. And they won't play in my wife's Dell Laptop 5100 or our Portable DVD Player.

You "Memorex DVD People" are going to have to start a cult in order to try and take us over, the "Quality DVD Media People!" <G>

I have our saying already;

Oh!...so now you got jokes?!

LOL!

...too funny...too funny! :)

But this should give people at least a good view on the memorex's, not saying that it will change anyone's mind, but hey...I proved half my point...they aren't ALL bad.

Still trying to get the PI/PIF to work.

Any suggestions?

Yep, just remember that old saying, where there's smoke there's fire. If a media gets a bad rep, it has to be for a reason. Think of it this way, I am sure that there is someone out there in this world that swears by their Yugo vehicle. It probably could have given them tremendous service, but the vast majority feels otherwise for good cause, they just didn?t hold up for the long haul. If you could buy TY media for the same price of Memorex, are you saying that you still would buy Memorex? That scan I showed is Memorex also, not a coaster mind you, but still shows what can happen with age. Not all are going to be bad. Besides, my Sony Media is cheaper, can burn as high as I want when I go crazy without problems, and has a good rep. :)

Yeah...that's cool

I am not swearing by this at all either. Because I don't remember where, but another user said that it goes bad over time. It might have been this thread, not sure.

But in any case, I wouldn't mind trying some new media...and might give you the ones you go a go, that, and the ones that everyone is screaming are good...TY.

So, we'll see...but I will tell you this, if I find a bad one, I will let you know and put the pic up, cause I am not about to boost Memorex up and say they are the best, cause I know they're not. ;)

;)

This was a fun thread... :)

Ok, I recently bought a 20 pack of Verbatim DVD+R discs for my game burning needs. I burned Burnout 3 on one of these and it completely sucks. The load screen takes about 3 minutes to finish loading (that is if it doesn't freeze), and once the actual game starts, its skips constantly (I the use Swap Magic v3.3 disc, just in case it matters). Now, I haven't burned any movies to one of these DVD's yet, but for now I'm switching over to Memorex or Sony or some other better media. Does anyone know a good media for burning games to?

Verbatim 20 packs? I am unfamiliar with that quantity pack.

What speed and format are these?
How fast did you burn them?

Can you use dvd decrypter/nero/dvdinfopro/or dvdidentifier to find the exact mfg code on them?

I buddy of mine does a crap-load of games for both x-box and ps2 and prefers maxell and tdk -4x on his NEC 2510 burner.
