wait, so in this video, he puts two wii discs in to the wii at the same time? I thought that the wii only fits one disc?

Did you even watch the movie? :/
He boots the single layer disc first, which crashes at the "movies" part of the game. After that he removes the DVD5 and boots a dual layer disc (DVD9. Now the movie part of the games works.)

I believe it's true the youtuve video.
My questions are
1) what modchip he was using?
2) and do u need the 1st layer back up every time?
base on this 3 rd update he had done each layer individualy?

Nekokabu has released the first "dumping" utility to read and backup Dual Layer discs for the Nintendo Wii. This program works in conjunction with a compatible DVD-ROM drive hooked up to your computer and also comes with an image unscrambler. The source code is also included which is good because it's command line based.
UPDATE: My translator is monitoring the forums where this tool was released. It seems that DVD Encrypter recognizes the image as a DL disc, but the author of the program hasn't the ability to burn it. He's suggested someone else burn and test it. Additionally, WiiTools fails to extract the contents of the image, but this is due to an assumption that WiiTools doesn't know what to do with a Dual Layer disc.
UPDATE 2: Crediar the author of WiiTools claims WiiTools can extract the image fine. So the assumption in the previous update which was based on a users reply on the forum (not the authors) is wrong.
UPDATE 3: Important: DVDInfo must be running in the background (with the correct drive selected) if using this app, otherwise you will end up with corrupt data (and it will run slower as well). I've tested and confirmed this.
Oh, and by the way, after looking through the source, it seems that the "-Wii2" parameter does not dump the whole disc, only the second layer (unless I'm mistaken which I could be). So both layers must be dumped individually, joined, then unscrambled if using this app

I have a similar question.. I've been extremely careful thus far to not have my wii bricked. Could you be more detailed on what "semi-bricked" means?

Semi Brick usually means the system works fine, but u cant access the system settings menu. Happened when Mario Strikers was relesased early.
