This thread's still over 500 pages behind what I believe is AD's longest thread. Can anyone guess which thread has officially hit 700 pages today?

Had my guess... back to my bitch!!!
How many more of these type of provocative flamewar starting posts will it take before the staff get the message and ban the "this has won" or "something vs something else" posts. They certainly shouldn't be allowed in post counted areas, because they generate nothing whatsoever of use to anybody.
It's stupid and is ruining the site for everybody.
This post from a n00b is just sheer bollocks sony propaganda cut and paste.. no input from the poster at all..

Say "YAY" if you agree...

The 'trouble with DVD-RB thread'? :p Just kidding, I just know that one is long.
My bitch:
Guitar Hero II is way expensive, at least for the multiplayer.
I figure I am gonna pick it up tomorrow for my 360 (NO 'PS3 is better' blah blah etc. type COMMENTS please) but if I can get an extra guitar it looks like it will set me back about $95 with tax.
Not bad, considering the game is $90. I just got lucky and got $55 (~same value as an extra Guitar) worth of Best Buy gift cards for my b-day from relatives. Just in time for use on GHII. :p
One song I want Red Octane to come out with for it is Hotel California, that would make my day.
Speaking of birthdays, this thread was started on my 17th lol. :p

Sorry me love, but I have to disagree...a site wide ban on those type of vs. threads would only benefit the consoles forums. Those questions are typical in the DVD forums from people requesting advice on which ripper most use or think is best or what program should be used for burning etc. No flaming usually comes from those threads in the subs that they are posted in...which leaves us with the real problem....Xbox anyone?

Fair enough.. I don't often go in the dvd forums, linux ya know... not a lot for me in there.
I see flames over burners, cpu's, ram, consoles, and just about anything else.. Including software every so often.
The trouble with any "what's the best" is they collect people with a vested interest, or an axe to grind.. or just the plain whackos who like to throw abuse at anybody who disagrees with a blatant piece of fanboyism or mis-information. Had one today.. hadn't read the question, and gave downright stupid and potentially dangerous "advice"
Flamed when the OP was warned why the info given was wrong.. on the grounds that "I know nothing because he has done it".. well great for him.. when he ends up with broken hardware or retinal damage that'll be great.. Like I will lose any sleep over him. Unfortunately I do care about the person who asked for advice in the first instance.
How's the pacemaker holding up Neph?

there hope for ye neph,in ye golden years
Man, 102, takes out 25-year mortgage
A pensioner aged 102 has been granted a 25-year mortgage despite the fact he would have to live until 127 to pay the loan back.
The property investor from East Sussex has taken out an interest-only £200,000 mortgage and hopes to meet the £958 monthly repayments with income from rent as he joins a growing army of retired people hoping to cash in on buy-to-let schemes.
Most lenders set a limit at 75 years for mortgage applicants but a handful, including Woolwich, and Bristol & West, have no such restrictions. This has led to a rush of applications from older investors.
Jonathan Moore, of Mortgages for Business, an independent adviser based in Sevenoaks, Kent, told how he brokered the mortgage for the unnamed 102-year-old, one of hundreds he has arranged for pensioners. ?This is a new phenomenon.Obviously there is an element of risk if property prices and rental income suddenly fall but there is no sign of that at the moment,? he said.
Richard Stone, 75, from north London, owns 10 houses and has taken out a £120,000 mortgage. The retired maths teacher admits such a commitment at his age can be ?quite stressful?.
Charities supporting the elderly have warned that the stress of taking out a large loan could affect health and urge pensioners to seek advice before making such a financial commitment.
Gordon Lishman, the director-general of Age Concern, said: ?It?s crucial that people think about the long-term implications.?
