Well, If everybody had the $10,000 for a top-end Mac we'd all be happier. But I find it nearly impossible to do much on the Mac. I like Windows XP for its program compatibility and ease of use.

Last time I checked you needed special expensive parts to build a high-end Mac(correct me if I'm wrong.) I like my Windows PC very much. It's the newbs and such that need help so I help them.

And sometimes even macs have problems.

That's why I make a compromise and use Linux for my net surfing and basic typing.

Yes Macs do have problems, If you take time to learn the OS then it is very easy, and you can do just as much as you can do on a PC. It just takes time, just like everything else in this world. No you do not need to buy expensive Parts for macs, you can use and old Hard Drive or stick of ram, etc. I just bought a macbook pro for $1400. If I was to buy a PC comparability equipped it would have cost me $900 for the Hardware, and about another $400 for all the software, which comes free with a Mac. Plus with Macs I don't have to worry about Virus software. (Well not yet anyway)

MacOS X does have its ups :)

But my problem might lay in user compatibility. Without troubleshooting what would I do for a hobby? lol

First up:

Guitar Hero II came out for the 360 ^_^.

My complaints though:

No one had an extra guitar, non-bundled (a awesome local shop said they should get a decent amount in tomorrow). Which is too bad but hopefully I will get one tomorrow. :)

Second, I found an online printable $10 off anything over $75 for Best Buy (expires tomorrow) but the sales person said it was only good for $5 off when she put it in the computer. :(

Oh well, $5 is about 2 gallons of gas. :p

Todays gripe... Yesterday was flametastic.. today has been all calm and reasonable.

What happened?? We must be slipping, maybe the "provoke a noob" batteries have run down and need recharging.
Even the news item about the ps3 is considered and sane.. dammit what a shame!

HERES A BITCH FOR YE

Quote:
Britain's talking spy cameras

p2pnet.net news:- Middlesbrough, a large town in North East England, has something other places in in the UK don't have.'

Yet.

Middlesbrough boasts loudspeakers fitted to CCTV cameras so operators can, "bark commands at people committing anti-social behaviour," says the South London Press.

Now home secretary John Reid plans to expand the use of 'talking' CCTV cameras across the country, says Press Association, and "Competitions are being held at schools in many of the areas for children to become the 'voice' of CCTV cameras, Mr Reid said," according to ITV.

"By funding and supporting these local schemes, the Government is encouraging children to send this clear message to grown ups: act antisocially and you will face the shame of being publicly embarrassed."

With kids already doing spycam voice-overs, will the next step be getting them to act as remote copyright spies like they do in Hong Kong?

Meanwhile, "Local communities are rightly fed up with littering and anti-social behaviour - they want to remind people about what is, and is not respectful behaviour," says Reid in the PA story.

There are an estimated 4.2 million CCTV cameras in Britain, even though a Home Office report published four years ago concluded better street lighting was seven times more effective at cutting crime, says ITV.

The scheme has been criticised by opponents as 'Big Brother gone mad'," says PA, going on, "But Mr Reid insisted it was proven to work and the communities sharing nearly £500,000 in grants to adapt cameras would feel the benefits.

" 'The new funding for Talking CCTV is aimed at the small minority who think it is acceptable to litter our streets, vandalise our communities and damage our properties,' he said."

RIPPER AND YE UK GUYS WHAT ARE YE DOING TO YE TEACHERS?

UK teachers vs Cyber Bullies

p2pnet.net news:- British teachers say they need protection against "cyber bullying".

But, says the Department for Education and Skills (DES), quoted by the BBC, teachers aren't without defences.

They, "now have stronger legal powers to deal with cyber pests as part of our continued fight against bullying," says the DES.

"They can now confiscate mobile phones which are being used in a malicious or disruptive way. We encourage them to make full use of this power."

The Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATl) has, "warned of the distress caused to teachers by anonymous, malicious comments on websites," says the BBC, going on, "offensive" comments and mocking video clips shouldn't be allowed to undermine teachers' authority, says the union.

Public mockery of teachers, "robs them of dignity and self-esteem," the story has general secretary Mary Bousted stating.

A survey quoted by the union claimed that 45% of teachers had received an attack by e-mail, 15% had received threatening texts - and that 10% had been upset by messages written about them on web sites.

The US-based RateMyTeachers.com carries comments about individual, named teachers, the Beeb points out, going on that although the RateMyTeachers website allows pupils to rate their teachers' ability and to add a comment, "it does not allow references to teachers' personal lives or appearance, or to use sexual language or name calling".

RateMyTeachers founder Michael Hussey says 70% of the ratings on the site were positive, according to the story, which quotes him as saying:

"But there are bad teachers. There are teachers who do not care, there's no passion, they are there for the pay cheque.

"We want to show who is really connecting with their students and who simply doesn't care."

Yeah, ok, so I may be guilty of publicly humiliating my french teacher once or twice when he falsely accused me of something and tried to punish me for it..
It's really quite funny. The guy is a compulsive liar and got fired from his last 4 schools for lieing on his CV. He came to our school, lied on his CV, there was a big local press scandal, and yet he's still teaching us!
He also has problems with children it seems. He clearly does not enjoy teaching us and has made that apparent on more than one occasion. He tries to single out me, along with others, almost every lesson.. So, about a week ago now, I completely layed into the guy and verbally ripped him to pieces. I've further spoken to my head of year and head teacher and the school have decided that they "aren't re-newing his contract" at the end of the year!

Well, how about that for a result ;-)

Noticed about 10 mins ago now, I made Addict - how about that :)

The Breathalyzer Test

A cop pulls a really nice red car over. He walks up to the window and sees this beautiful blonde. He asks for her drivers license. But she didn't know what that was nor where to keep it. So he told her and she gave it to him.

Then he asked for her registration, and again she had on idea what that was nor where they kept that. So he told her,and she found that and gave that to him. He told her that he would be right back and he walked back to his car.

He got on the radio to tell his friend about the blonde in the red car. His friend told him to give her stuff back and pull his pants down. All confused he walked over to the car and gave her stuff back, confused he pulled his pants down, she looked at him and said:

"Not another breathalizer test, I swear I haven't been drinking!"

During WW II an American soldier R&R in England,...

During WW II an American soldier had been on the front lines in Europe
for three months, when he was finally given a week of R&R. He caught a
supply boat to a supply base in the south of England, then caught a
train to London. The train was extremely crowded and he could not find
a seat. He was dead on his feet and walked the length of the train
looking for any place to sit down.
Finally he found a compartment with seats facing each other; there was
room for two people on each seat. On one side sat only a proper looking,
older British lady, with a small dog sitting in the empty seat beside her.
"Could I please sit in that seat?" he asked.
The lady was insulted. "You bloody Americans are so rude", she said,
"can't you see my dog is sitting there"?
He walked through the train once more and still could not find a seat.
He found himself back at the same place.
"Lady I love dogs - have a couple at home - so I would be glad to hold
your dog if I can sit down", he said.
The lady replied, "You Americans are not only rude you are arrogant".
He leaned against the wall for a time, but was so tired he finally
said,
"Lady, I've been on the front lines in Europe for three months with
not a decent rest for all that time. Could I please sit there and hold your
dog?"
The lady replied, "You Americans are not only rude and arrogant, you
are also obnoxious."
With that comment, the soldier calmly stepped in, picked up the dog,
threw it out the window, and sat down.
The lady was speechless.
An older, neatly dressed Englishman sitting across on the other seat
spoke up. "Young man, I do not know if all you Americans fit the
lady's description of you or not. But I do know that you Americans do a lot
of things wrong. You drive on the wrong side of the road, you hold your
fork with the wrong hand, and now you have just thrown the wrong bitch out
of the window."

Woman, 30, posed as teenage boy in sex case
Everett woman, 30, accused of assaulting 14-year-old girl, police say
.

By Jackson Holtz
Herald Writer

EVERETT - An Everett woman who posed as a teenage boy was arrested Sunday for allegedly molesting a 14-year-old girl who believed the older woman was her boyfriend.

As "Mark," Corpuz persuaded the girl's family to let "Mark" live in their home as the girl's boyfriend. Corpuz claimed to be an orphan, police alleged.

It wasn't until police arrested Corpuz on Sunday on an unrelated matter that the girl and her family learned that "Mark" was a woman - and almost twice the age they were led to believe, according to court papers.

April 5 Is U.S. Alcohol Screening Day

April 4, 2007 03:55:46 PM PST
Yahoo! Health: Addiction News

WEDNESDAY, April 4 (HealthDay News) -- Americans who suspect they may have a drinking problem can take a free, anonymous screening test on Thursday, April 5 -- National Alcohol Screening Day.

Participants can complete a written questionnaire designed to evaluate their alcohol use and then talk with a health professional about the questionnaire's results and any follow-up steps, if needed.

"National Alcohol Screening Day helps people assess their own drinking behaviors and identify resources for help. When you ask yourself -- 'Is my drinking affecting my job, my relationships or my health?' -- you might be surprised by the answer," Dr. Douglas G. Jacobs, president and CEO of Screening for Mental Health, said in a prepared statement.

The nonprofit organization sponsors National Alcohol Screening Day, held as part of Alcohol Awareness Month each April.

Of the people who took the online self-assessment between Jan. 1, 2006, and March 18, 2007, 66 percent scored positive for symptoms of an alcohol problem.

"Many people don't know what constitutes moderate alcohol use. For men, it is no more than two drinks per day, and for women and seniors, it is no more than one drink per day. If you are drinking more than that, it could be the sign of a problem," Jacobs said.

Signs of a drinking problem include:

* Drinking to calm nerves, forget worries or boost a sad mood.
* Guilt about drinking.
* Unsuccessful attempts to reduce or stop drinking.
* Lying about or hiding drinking habits.
* Causing harm to oneself or someone else as a result of drinking.
* Needing to drink increasing amounts of alcohol in order achieve the desired effect.
* Feeling irritable, resentful or unreasonable when not drinking.
* Medical, social, family, or financial problems caused by drinking.
