Quite cool.
I prefer to use Shrink / Nero for everything.
Having said that, I found that the "AnyDVD / CloneDVD2" combo tore through my own copies of all of the above, shaving about three or four minutes off those times :)
I should perhaps add that the few I have ever had a problem with have been advanced screening copies, through a friend.
A nice problem to have :)

I must add that I have yet to see Decypter fail.
I only uses DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter and Nero for all my copying/burning, and have not had a movie yet which I cannot back-up.

Decrypter is quite prone, just do a search on here to see, though it's a good tool. Shrink is an excellent tool :)
bob001:
It works now, as our friend AnyDVD famously broke Sony's encryption :)
zeppelin:
Indeed a good reference, though I use another.

@jlrm365, Sorry I didn't answer sooner I was out of town for a few days. I joined AD 10/2003 so its been a few months over a year. It use to be that Senior members and Addicts were hand picked. Now its by post count. Senior needs 500 posts AD Addict needs 2500 posts. I made Senior under the old system then took about a year to hit 2500 posts. Some members pad their counts with useless posts but I always tried to at least answer something when posting. The title under your name isn't important, its the quality of your answers that count and the amount of help you can offer. Thats what really counts. I've seen Newbies post better answers than some higher members so don't let that be the main issue. Good luck.

I think Jerry746 said it best. I don't understand what the fuss is about, they are all very good, no arguments there. However, like Jerry, I like AnyDVD/CloneDVD best. Yes, you have to pay for it, but it is easier and faster and no one updates their software more regularly than AnyDVD. This is not an advertisement for them, it's just a satisfied customer who is trying to help others that have asked opinions on what they preferred. I have 'shrink & 'decryptor as well, why should anyone take offense for stating a preference, I don't.

We're not talking about a lot of money here either folks. AnyDVD is pretty damn cheap considering what you'll save in both time and aggravation. I know Decrypter is free and I use it often. I'm more results oriented so I use what gets the job done whether its paid for or free. Use both products and enjoy. Stop squabbling over the crumbs that fall on the floor..

Jerry746 - I was not worried. I realise that newbie means new to the forum, not new to the technologies. I was just curious. Thanks for your assurances though :)
ricoman - "This is not an advertisement for them, it's just a satisfied customer" Well said. I am the same, but some people seem to have issues :)
Cman - "I use what gets the job done" I am the same! Shrink almost exclusively and the "AnyDVD / CloneDVD2" combo when that has problems :)
bob001 - There are a lot, so it's hard to name specific ones. Do a search for "Decrypter problems".

You already named two-three when i initially requested to name failing movie names in thread. Now that we got confirmation in this thread itself that they worked with decrypter, what is holding you to say further names? Any one can search and find lots of know, that's not the purpose here. So please tell the names of dvds which per your own experience and we will also try the same. We will play with the parameters provided in the decrypter/shrink to see if that works (in case that's needed).

"we got confirmation in this thread itself that they worked"
"We"?
One person managed to copy one of the two mentioned. I sincerely hope others have managed to make Decrypter work :)
No tool can perpetually fail, as has been repeated many times, and it's good to see the recent versions of Decrypter working!
Where several older ones and some current versions do not, the "AnyDVD / CloneDVD2" combo can step into the breach :)
"Any one can search and find lots of know"
Have you?
"that's not the purpose here"
Obviously, nor can a purpose other than discussion be nominated.
How about doing a search and compiling a list of names others report as failing with Decrypter?
Post it, detail how you overcame Decrypter's associated problems with some and invite comments on the others.
It would be productive and helpful to read something of that nature, especially as so few have noticed your initial request.
By "Acolaypse", did you mean "Apocalypse Now"?
"we will also... We will play with"
We?
"in case that's needed"
It's not.
Other software can do the job!
In fact it would be better to try some, as it would broaden horizons.
In order, my preferences are: Shrink, Decrypter, AnyDVD / CloneDVD2.
AnyDVD / CloneDVD2 is a good combo I am about to purchase, as I have come to the end of my trial period.
As several have mentioned, it's a good investment :)
Nice post ggoody :)

Most in this thread are comparing apples to oranges.
The title of this thread is: Better than AnyDVD
In the same category as AnyDVD are DVD43 and DVD Region+CSS Free. All three run in the background and require no real user input. Of them AnyDVD is probably the best. I wouldn't know for certain since I've not needed(or felt a need to use) any of them.
DVD Decrypter on the other hand would fall into a category with SmartRipper, vStrip, and a host of others. Of them, I've only used Decrypter and have yet to encounter a problem with it. But since it works so great for me, of course I'm going to say that it's the best.

Close.
The title of this thread is indeed "Better than AnyDVD", but the first post makes it clear that it's asking what is.
Therefore...
It's the result that is, or should be, the issue being debated!
It's having one piece of software or the other and, as a result, being able to copy or not.
For instance, I would much prefer to use Shrink for all copies (though now I tend more to re-author). Decrypter is it's backup. On the rare occasions when both have failed, since I have downloaded AnyDVD, I have had no problems :)
"of course I'm going to say that it's the best" Despite the fact you've "I've not needed(or felt a need to use) any of them"?
If you've "only used Decrypter", how do you come to have a Shrink link as part of your signature?
You must have more experience than you've let on or be using someone else's account :)
On that note... where did you learn of "DVD43 and DVD Region+CSS Free"?
From here... or do you have friends who use those sorts of applications?

Well with 2 pages of posts no seems to have learned anything. If you have a combination of programs that work well for you, can decrypt all movies, and you are satisfied with the final product you stay with those programs. It doesn't matter which ones they are. I have heard members say that Intervideo copydvd3 was better than the CloneDVD/Anydvd combination. I downloaded the programs, did several backups and tried everything out to see if they were right. I don't like Intervideo's program and in my opinion ONLY, CloneDVD does a better job. So I will go back to my way of doing backups. But because I don't like it doesn't mean The other members are wrong. Its all a matter of your own personal likes and dislikes. No one here is completely wrong and no one is completely right. Once again NOT WORTH FIGHTING OVER.
Jerry

You're right Jerry, I just got pissed at the guy's arrogance and persistent arguing. If you look at one of my previous posts, I said that they are all good software, no argument, we all have our preferences. Mine happens to be AnyDVD/CloneDVD. If you look at the very first post, Alien...was basically asking if AnyDVD was worth the money. I don't know how it turned into a pissing contest.
