MAGNUM -
What you do is copy and paste the PSL numbers into a notepad document and save on your desktop. Then change the exstension of the file into a .psl file. Then open up dvd decyrpter and import the .psl files by going through the file menu options.
I did it last night and then used DVD Shrink afterwards, it worked a treat. Its a good film as well so i am well chuffed

Did u use the rentao or retail copy please? From what people are saying, it seems the rental is more difficult to copy.

Hi Razzler. I saved the numbers in a notepad file, used 'change type' to change it to a PSL. I opened Decrypter, looked in file menu, but it only has 'browse' & 'exit. How do I import it please?

I realised I had Decrypter on 'write' not 'read' . Now I can import. I did this, but it said 'Invalid or unsupported file format. Line 0 does not contail PSL.' I did copy PSL at the top when I copied the numbers. Any ideas please?

Hi,Another newbie here. I`m getting exactly the same message as "MAGNUM 355" from DVD Decrypter when trying to import the .psl file for "layer cake".
I`ve spent nearly a whole day now trying everything under the sun to backup this dvd - CloneDVD, CloneDVD2, SmartRipper, DVD Decrypter, AnyDVD, Alcohol 120%, all to no avail. Any more ideas?????

WHATS GOIN ON......
Followed the newly posted thread on the subject to the letter - even found and downloaded DVD Decrypter (v3.2) as advised (even though I was running v3.5.2.0) - this proved to be a mistake as v3.2 doesnt give you the option to import the .psl file !!!
Going back to the newer version of DVD Decrypter v3.5.2.0 and with the correct version of AnyDVD running and the file saved to desktop as advised DVD Decrypter still wont import the psl file no matter what mode I have it in - same old fault (line 0 does not contain PSL) AAAARGHH
Maybe theres something obvious I`m missing - a brain maybe !!!

Do you have the actual DVD loaded into your DVD-Rom or Burner when you are attempting to Import the PSL files?

Hi ScubaBud,
Thanks for the reply.
The DVD IS in the DVD drive when I attempt to import the files.
To all intents and purposes your screen shot is exactly what I`m getting but its when you actually select the psl file to import that DVD Decrypter comes up with the fault "unsupported format - line 0 does not contain PSL".

Try this and let me know if it helps.
This is the list that I see here, I don't have the movie so I can't say for sure if these are correct but, assuming that everyone?s posts are correct, do this:
Where is says "PSL", that has to be the very top line.
Where I show an "*" at the bottom of this list, that is where your cursor needs to be, (WITHOUT the *), when you save the file, (flashing I bar cursor). So under notepad when you save the file, rename it to something like layer.psl and save it. If the cursor is just below the last entry when you save the file, it should work. Let me know.

hi itchpants
i'm a brand new member and was just about to jump in with same suggestion - the 'word' PSL must be the first line of the file you make
i've just followed the instructions above - including downloading programs etc - and it works - in fact it's ripping as i type
doh - just reached 96% - getting uncorrectable error on VOB file 05_2 - just hitting ignore every time
hopefully this isn't part of the actual movie - any suggestions
regards

Can but try your suggestion - cant actually remember where the cursor was when I saved the file !!!
Will let you know if this helps - but it may not be until tomorrow.

I too had problems with that particular VOB file - I`m pretty sure its not part of the main movie - I think the movie files are the VOB 4`s

I managed to rip "UK PAL rental" Layer Cake using latest version of DVD region+css with no problems whatsoever. It was Sony Arcoss protection which AnyDVD didnt like!
You can use the full version for a 30 trial period!

Hi,
Back again (AGAIN !!!)
Sorry I didnt reply a little sooner to your suggestion on the psl file and the "floating cursor position" on the file when saving.
As it happens I ended up following "Champions" lead and going through the DVD Decrypter forum where I picked up what appeared to be the same guide but worded a little differently - and for some reason, unbeknown to me, importing the psl file worked perfectly this time.
I did make the point of noticing where the floating cursor was at the time of saving and it was flashing away at the end of the last line - not under the last line !.
Anyway, proceeded with DVD Shrink and lo and behold.....Sorted.

re PSL file and error message in line (0)
I had had the same problem but re-edited the .txt file to remove the single spaces after each line:- i.e. "PSL " becomes "PSL" etc.
Hope this helps
