:) to all the opinions on here...while i agree wholeheartedly w/ catfreak that no manufacturer is 100% proven successful, i would much rather take my chances with companies that are in the high 90% (TY and Verbatim and even Ritek G05s are 90%+ successful for me) rather than the crap companies that are closer to 30% success rate (from my OWN experience these companies being memorex-cmc mag discs, princo, and the no name brands that have fake TY coding-example Linkyo for me)

i don't like to gamble w/ media, so i just recommend the ones that have worked well for ME personally in the past...different people and different setups will account for a few coasters here and there, but overall, i will still continue to use TY and Verbs for all my future backups~ :)

Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

different strokes for different folks i guess :)

i do not have any current game consoles, so i don't know about backing up games whatsoever, however, that is VERY odd that my fav. flavor of Verbs are causing you so much trouble...

i personally will NEVER use memorex as i've probably had 10x as much trouble with them in the past for movies as you have with ps2 backups.

but, we're doing two separate things, so i can't compare apples 2 apples here...

Maybe he's using the ValueLife brand instead of the DataLife?

Hey Kivory666:
Staples has a deal tomorrow that even you cant pass up Yuden000-T02-000 9.99 for 30 Fujifilm branded in 3 different colors. Made in Japan. My decision is, do I buy the 8x Yudens or go with the 16x Verbs at 9.99 for 25 from Best Buy. Tell me oh wise one, please advise. (Don't let the the Verb God read this)

Are you serious? I was on my way to Staples to buy the Fujifilm Yudens tomorrow and I am torn between the 16x Verbs at Best Buy 9.99USD for 25 or the Fujifilm Yudens T02 30 for 9.99USD. What would you buy?

@Creaky
I get excellent scans with both and I burn them both at 16x. Not one coaster in the batch. My Nec 3520 burns the Verbs better than the 3540 but the 3540 burn the Yudens better. I think I ight just get 50 MCC004 and 60 Yudens. The dash 16x Verbs don't seem to burn as good as the MCC004.

Now I'll have over 1000 blanks, all bought on sale, 800 Taiyo Yudens and 250 Verbs both + and -, Mostly +. I averaged out the price I paid for all of them and it comes to 27 cents a disc. So I have about 300USD worth of media. I wonder if this stuff has any other uses besides burningf movies and data. At 27 cents they are cheaper than skeets. Maybe I'll shoot them.

It's a brand they sell here in Canada. I believe it may be marketed in other countries as "DataLife" whereas the high-end stuff is marketed as "DataLifePlus". At Staples (Canada), all of their 25+ spindles are "ValueLife" or "ValuLife". I did some digging on the internet and found they use inferior manufacturers for these discs. Be careful with what you buy!

??? I used to buy media on-line but I'm into instant gratification ? Besides, buying on-line makes it easier for my wife to keep track of how many discs I buy and she gives me a hard time when I buy lots and lots ? Usually I buy Japanese Sony? discs or Verbatim? ? I only bought a 25 pack of Japanese FujiFilm? on a whim and I know I can always use them in my LiteOn? LVW-5005s - Everything works in them! ???

hehehe...@aland~

seems like quite a party going on in here...missed most of it as i was at work~ :)

the dilemna you are facing between the Tys and the Verbs..well, personally, i would go w/ the TYs, BUT, if you are considering the MCC004s, then i would go with those~ hehehe..YES CREAKY, a compromise is here...i have found the 16x DVD+R format for the Verbs to be FANTASTIC, i can't get over how good they are~ :) some of them scan even BETTER than my fabled TYs~ :)

i don't use DVD-R in the Verbatim format as i mainly use DVD+R, but, the MCC004s i've used so far, not that many mind you, are even better than my favorite MCC003s that i've grown so accustomed to~

so, aland...if you can get your hands on the MCC004s...ALL THE POWER TO YOU, as that would be MY personal suggestion on your purchase~ but, if you have a few extra $$$ in your wallet, i don't think the fujifilm 30/$10 will hurt either~ :)
