i burn ALL my media @8x~ :) regardless of the manufacturer rated speed...i tried a few Verb 16x @16x..noticed slighty choppiness, but, it was hardly noticeable~
even my 8x TYS and Verbatims, i burn them ALL @8x...there is no better quality for me personally in terms of video to slow it down to 4x~ i ONLY burn @4x on my TYGO1s...since they are rated as such~ hehe

'fraid i didn't have much luck burning my 8x at 8x on my Verb or my TY so i went back to 4x. i went from zero problems to two instant problems. however i honestly can't remember if that was when i only had 512mb RAM so for peace of mind i stay at 4x (ok out of paranoia!)

I got to agree with you, I have been trying out this program, and the burn speed is way too fast for me. I have not been having good luck using it, it is a shame because I had thought of buying it but between the uncontrolable burn speed, and the lack of authoring abilities, I may pass.

arniebear, i called Intervideo about this problem and talked to them in detail about needing the capabilites to re-author using there program burn speed ,audio etc.there going to look into it and was glad to here from me .they know Afterdawn is huge for them.
the problem iam having is when i do the movie only iam getting the directors comments on play back in SOME stand alone players. so the re-authoring capablities would def. take care of that. plus i only want to burn at 4X . so i been using CloneDVD2 as of late great program and its 10 bucks off right now if you type in "afterdawn" when buying it.
counley as far as buying blank media online stick with supermedia store.com ,meritline.com or rima.com newegg is ok too theses are the ONLY ones i will buy from ,you arent going to get FAKES from ANY of these dealers

Glad you talked with them adding these capabilities will only make their product better. I too have been using another program CopyToDVD and it works most of the time, but have had a few problems with movies I customized the files don't seem to come out right. But I will play with the program a little more and see what I am doing wrong. I know what you mean about the director's comments, unless you get rid of the 2channel they will play through on some standalones, sometimes you can get rid of them with the audio button on your standalone remote.

arniebear and aabbccdd,
An easy way to control the burn speed useing DVDCopy3 to encode is to make a folder on your hdd then select that folder as the target in DVDCopy3 then burn the folder with Nero at whatever speed you want. I use this method everytime I use DVDCopy3.

I have been running AnyDVD with Intervideo and have wondered if this was the problem. Maybe I will go back to ripping with Decrypter and see if this makes a difference. I like the quality that Intervideo puts out, but I am not sure if it is that much of a difference to warrant spending the money on it. They charge 80.00 and the AnyDVD and CloneDVD was only 60.00 and well worth the price. I am surprised that Slysoft does not charge more for this combo considering it works so well and is constantly being updated.

LOL gurnard~ hehehe

@aabbccdd
yes, i can burn the 4x TYG01s @ 8x, but THOSE are the ONLY exception to my rule of burning everything @8x...for the older 4x rated media, i stick w/ 4x burning, just due to the fact that media manufacturers were still "trying to get it right" back then...despite the 4x TYs being VERY good quality, i keep those @4x to be on the "safe side" :)
but everything else...yeah, i can burn 8x TYs @16x on my pioneer, but i feel keeping everything burned @8x is reasonable enough for me, i tend to NOT over-burn (burn faster than rated speed) for my media...but, i am not knocking all the people that keep their burns @4x...lower chance of errors, hey why not? i have just done many discs @8x and @4x to compare..and the quality is IDENTICAL, so, that is why i dont' slow it down like so many people do...
i too use intervideo's dvdcopy3 on occassion, while it is fast and the output is very good, i have to be careful with the burning speed as it can not be set...so, i tend to burn on my sony drive to somewhat "slow down" the burning...my sony will only burn my 8x TYs @8x...that is good enough for me.
good luck everyone...after the recent announcement of the CMC MAG Verbs DVD-R format...be careful people...whew~ im glad that i only use DVD+R for Verbatim media...this was a shocker~!

Here is a quote on Verbs from another thread at CDFreaks
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=142277
Quote: No the deal is that Prodisc and CMC Magnetics are now producing virtually all of Verbatim's Taiwanese media. However, they are still using MCC dyes instead of their own (the reason why Verbatim discs are still decent quality as a whole). So the Prodisc produced MCCs have a - or + breaking up their serial numbers (depending on whether the discs are - or + format). The CMC Mag produced MCC Verbatims do not have a break of any kind in their numbers. The problem with these "generic" Verbatims is that they may not be MCC at all. They could be straight up Moser Baer (not likely though if they are made in Taiwan) or CMC Magnetics, no MCC dyes being used. While niether dye is terrible, you could easily find MCC produced Verbatims for just a few dollars more if you just keep an eye on the specials. No point in getting dyes that are average or just a little above average when you can have one of the best for pretty close to the same price.
Don't know how true this is, but I guess it is time to beware of what Verbs you are buying.
