Hi creaky...been on me hols, reformatting rebuilding, you know the score!!Just waiting for those ty/verbs from svp.expecting them in the morning cos svp dont piss about!!those 16x verb -r are slightly better after the 109s latest firmware, but still not right. So im using tygo2 8x -r that are ok, althought theres a bit of seperation between the layers around the spindle on a few of them.Ive come to the conclusion that god hates me!Need your advice on ram issues soon.

@gurnard - it's my boat that'll be sunk, what with the weight of all those new discs. i've had to get more inventive as to storing them too :)

u could always send them to me creaky, if you need me to "temporarily store/hold" some of your media for ya~ :) that's not a problem at all...hehe
i have a closet full of NOTHING but media now~ i converted my 2nd closet into shelves installed into the walls and i have BOXES full of 600 Taiyo Yudens each stacked up the the ceiling (i use a small step ladder to put the top box on) :)
at least the closet is dark and at a suitable temperature, i need to cut down this obsession i have with buying media...NO MORE for the rest of this year~ :) these sales and these new Taiyo Yuden made Verbatims (once they are widely available here in the U.S) will be the root of my demise....* evil grin * HAHAHAHAHA

i stock up just for the simple fact that if brand names (that are on sale at the time) all of sudden change manufacturers, i will have some of the GOOD STUFF that i like before it is no longer available locally~
an example of this would be the Fuji 8x DVD-R TYG02s (made in japan) that i bought around Jan. 2005, these are VERY difficult to find nowadays at least here in California locally @ bestbuy, they have PLENTY of the made in taiwans, but, they are not nearly as good...prodisc is NOT EVEN on the same level as genuine Taiyo Yuden media~ :)

i'm not sure if i mentioned it already but it looks like SVP have replaced their normal stocks of -R 8x Verbs with the Verb TY discs. no biggie there plus they're still doing the 8x +R in 10tubs for £2.49. when it's close to payday may see what money i got left, can't be going short of discs :)

Bought 2x 25 pack from svp.Burned disc at 4x using padus discjuggler pro with plextor 716A fw1.08.
Here a scan from Verbatim Pastel Coloured DVD-R disc. The firmware is 1.06.
I will try firmware 1.06 to see theses verbatim matt silver TYGO2 are any better than the pastel ones.

After the travesty of the 8x -R Verb TY (TYG02) drying up forever more, and the 16x +R Verb TY (YUDEN000T03) (in tubs of 25 suffering the same fate, just had a mooch on svp's website, they have now got the 16x +R Verb TY (YUDEN000T03) in again, this time in tubs of 25.
Quote: Verbatim (Taiyo Yuden) (16x) DVD+R
Verbatim have entrusted the manufacture of the disc to the world renowned Taiyo Yuden factory. These discs carry Taiyo Yuden's 16x DVDINFO tag of YUDEN000T03. Couple that with Verbatim's high levels of packaging and quality control and you have what is probably one of the best quality DVDR discs in the world!
Packed in spindle tubs of 25 discs. All the discs and the packaging is branded with the Verbatim name and logo.
ADVDInfo: YUDEN000T03
Spindle tub of 25 [3458] £6.99
Box of 200 discs [3458 BOX] £54.25
see here - http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=1523
i'm not gonna hang around, the Verb TY sell at svp for awhile then dry up for good (due to people buying them all up, wonder who that could be, eh creaky!), gonna bag me some of these sexy discs while i can

Hey Creaky,how're you doing man?
Can't believe that today i just bought the last remaining "Ultra Sexy" 8X DVD+R TY verbs.Got 150 of them at 30 cents each(of course after converting Chinese yuans to USD).According to that store, they won't bring any of these TY Verbs because very few people buy them, they prefer go on cheaper and crappier ones(and of course they don't even know and care about good quality media).
Actually i have around 700 discs which will be able to keep me happy for a while but i really don't know how i'm going to do after my stock reaches zero.I think i'm going to end up like all those who used to say how lucky you are to find and use DVD medias which are actually Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden at the same time,if you know what i mean by that. :`(
Here,it's the only brand i've found that is actually made in Japan and is genuine Taiyo Yuden, others are just made in Taiwan and China(which is the WORST).I know the MCC verb is not that great compared to the TY Verb but even this is impossible to find over here.
It's realy true when people says that 8X DVD+R TY medias are becoming more and more scarce. But thanks to your example and by some other members advices,i've been able to make my little TY Verb stock, afterall little is much much better than nothing.
Vincent.

@davidw89 - your best bet is to go thru the first handful of pages in this very forum, it's a very common question, and is always answered in detail by the regulars so there are many threads in here
