As i said before, ive ripped spiderman to the hard drive, played back with various dvd software, i.e power dvd etc, no sound. ripped the same several times , burned to dvd+rw and played back on pc and still no sound. if i rip the video only using smartripper or dvddecrypter i can play back the video, if i rip the sound only i can play back the sound, if i rip both together, guess what, i get only video on playback, regardless if its played off the hard drive or off a disc.
if i put in any other dvd, rip it burn it, spread jam on it and stick it in my mouldy pants, without changing any settings at all, the same as when i've ripped spiderman, i get video and sound. come on sefy, its one to get your head round

@crossboy, I think this is more of a software bug issue, I know for a fact that the VOB files contain all the Audio (all languages!) and Video and the Subs (all languages!), so when you rip the VOB's you rip the whole thing.
However! I'm not familiar with DVD2ONE as I don't have a DVD Burner, it's rather pointless for me to test it.
I Have backed up Spiderman (Region 1) DVD so I know i'm not wrong, as long as DVD2AVI can produce a WAV file from those VOB's, it means i'm correct and the Audio Track IS there!

Crossboy. It doesn't work in my pc DVD drive using Power DVD, but it does work in my X-Box and my standalone DVD player fine. I burn decrypt and burn mine exactly the same as you, but i use DVD-R. Try it in something other than a PC DVD drive.

i'm very much inclined to agree with sefy that there is some kind of glitch in the software. the reason i was burning spiderman to +rw is simply "coasters" but i will try -r in a stand alone. it just seems odd that i can rip other dvd's to the hard drive and play the vobs back ok except spiderman.

I have the same experience with some movies. (one of them is Spiderman, europe region.) When I try to play the riped files from the hard drive with powerdvd there is no sound. The problem seems to be related to the 1st vob-file only! If I jump to chapter 2 (3,4...) powerdvd will play the sound. But in chapter 1 there is no sound!? Is there a way to check if the 1st vob file is damaged or not?

That's because you cut out all other audio in DVD2One other than Stereo Sound probably.

What do I check in the audio section? All of them?
It's a hassle having to set up the sound everytime I feed the disk in my dvd player. Thanks in advance.

If you tick/select all of them you'll have your choice of audio but this will slightly (probably , ever so slightly decrease your video quality).
I normally only tick/select AC3 6CH (Audio).
My stand alone (Sony DVP-NS305) shows me it's dolby-digital so all's good !!: p

I´m using Smartripper 2.26 with movie option and used to rip only the streams that I need.
To convert the movie for the PC (DivX 4/5) I use Flask 0.594 (AMD optimized version). If I want to create some SVCD for my DVD player I use DVDx and Nero.

I've had this myself when backing up Spiderman.
The audio stream is there, but PowerDVD wont play it.
A way to check there is sound is to run one or more of the ripped vobs through windows media player.....this should then play the sound.
I know it sounds wierd, but whenever I have problems with PowerDVD not playing the audio, Media Player puts my mind at ease!

Your right it does sound wierd that WMP (especially if WMP.9) does it for you whereas nothing else does.
WMP is known to have a fault w/ it's DVD Player (don't use the shuttle control or sh*t freezes up).
I read of this problem after I'd already gone through it..D'oh!
They did seem to load SPIDERMAN up with loads of audio tracks...for real !

New to this, but I have the same problem copying a region 2 DVD called GIMMI, using DVD DECRYPTER, the files decrypt to the hard disk OK, they play back from the hard disk OK with sound, but when I use Instant Copy to make the DVD, it all burns OK but I get no sound on the DVD, has anyone resolved this yet or at least know what is happening. Any help would be appreciated.

I've had the same problem with both Spiderman and Attack of the Clones. I haven't burned them to disc yet because I hate wasting my dvd+r until I know the damn thing will work. I will have to try using some of my dvd+rw to test on. What is the procedure to erase a rw and use it again. I've used Nero to do a full erase. Is that all that needs to be done or does it need to be reformatted as well. I'm determined to figure this out. Thanks.

If you've done a full erase in Nero you should be able to burn again on that RW.
On both Spiderman & Attack of the Clones I used
SMARTRIPPER 2.41
DVD2One v.1.1.1
Nero 5.5.9.9.
ripped only movie files
then in DVD2One select AC3 6CH (should be top audio tick-box)
Bob's your Uncle...and Fanny's your Aunt !: )

I believe that is known already UK_Mews
It's a fact that playing from source before burning sometimes shows no sound although after a trial burn on a RW media that the sound IS there !
Peace -

The a fore-mentioned Spiderman is a prime example...also extracting the right audio to this film can catch people out.
Nuff said : )-
