Smart Ripper rips VOB files, in the VOB's themselfs you have the Audio Tracks, so I don't really see how you would have no sound.

I Suggest after you rip, that you use DVD2AVI to generate a D2V and WAV files.

What you are saying sounds very paculier to me, considering the VOB files contain all the movie information, including subtitles, i've backed up Spiderman myself and had no problem with sound.

very peculiar indeed. Spiderman: ripped with Smartripper , then dvd2one then copytodvd, no sound. tried dvddecrypter, same result no sound. even swopped dvd drive to read and then burn with burner, same result. Cats and Dogs with any of the above combo, works fine

@crossboy, you mentioned dvd2one, i'm not familiar with that program, but lets go back a step to DVD2AVI.

Did you generate a D2V/WAV file ? did you get the WAV file ? if you did, did you play it to see if it works ?

dvd2one, very good software, true copy to one disc.
Smartripper rips all the vobs etc to folder,
Dvd2one converts to Dvd compliant files
Copy2DVD burns to disc

works fine with other dvd's, not spiderman.

Using Smart ripper, ive ripped video only and played back fine, then ripped audio only, plays fine, rip both together, no sound, but only on spiderman, others no problem

Are you burning to DVD or to CDR media ? are those programs free/shareware ?

Anyway, you forgot to answer my question, as i've mentioned, the Rippers copy the VOB files, those contain ALL the movie aspects, Video and Source and Subtitles as well, including all languages! so it doesn't make any sense that you got only the Video, I think it's some settings you inputed into Smart Ripper or DVD Decyrptor.

burning to dvd
no change to the settings in Smart ripper or decrypter, everything the same as when ripping other dvd's
why does it rip other dvd's ok but not Spiderman?
i think i'll try a previous version of Smart ripper

First, you gotta conclude to where the problem starts, cause I do not believe it's in Smart Ripper.

If you could just try what i've said, use Smart Ripper in Movie Mode, and then DVD2AVI, and see if you get a WAV file, if you do, then i'm correct and you DO have Audio in those files.

GONNA TRY SMART RIPPER 2.4 SHORTLY, ALTHOUGH NOT HOPEFUL AS HAVING TRIED DVD DECRYPTER, THE RESULT WAS THE SAME, NO SOUND. ONE THING THOUGH I NOTICED WITH SPIDERMAN AS OPPOSSED TO OTHER DVD'S IS THAT WITH SPIDERMAN SMARTRIPPER ASK U TO PLAY THE DVD FIRST AS IT CANNOT UNLOCK SOME OF THE FILES AND THEN RELOAD. COULD THE PROBLEM BE RELATED TO THAT

i guess that i started this so let me add fuel to the fire. the dvd that i had a problem with was 'the end of the affair'. since then, i've tried 5 or 6 other dvds and the sound ripped fine. i thought that it might have been something wrong that i did while downloading, but clearly, it is something with that one dvd [and perhaps others like spiderman as well'.

thanks all

ive just tried Dr Dolittle 2 with Smart Riper 2.4, audio and video fine. one last attempt at spiderman and thats it. It must be something to do with the original Spiderman disc itself

As i've mentioned, i've done Spiderman myself, without a single problem, all i'm asking is after you use Smart Ripper, is that you try using DVD2AVI to see if you can produce a WAV file.

Follow this segment in my guide, it's only the DVD2AVI part, may load a little slow cause it's directly from my PC:

I'm having this problem to. I did what you said using DVD2Avi and it does create a .wav file which has all the sound in it, but when the VOB file is played using PowerDVD it says in the information that Audio is not available. I'm also having this problem with Not Another Teen Movie. They are both produced by Columbia Tristar and wondering if they hay protected it in a different way.

As i've not used DVD2One, I can't really say, but as long as DVD2AVI does create a WAV file which does have the Audio Track, it means i've proved the point: VOB files DO contains ALL the Sound.

It may be just a bug in DVD2One which causes it not to detect the Audio on some movies.

I think i've cracked it. When the VOB files are on the hard drive they won't play with any sound, but when they are burnt onto a DVD the film will play fine with sound. Only tried it on a X-Box, but worked fine on that.

i have the same issues with resident evil, rips fine but when i play with powerdvd i aint got any sound.

i used the same procedure, dvd-decrypter + dvd2one with "one hour photo" and powerdvd played the audio in the vob files. im gonna have to burn it out and see what happens i suppose.
