I'm testing out TMPGEnc at the moment cos I'm going the other way...avi2dvd
It's taken 17hrs 30mins to encode 700+Mb .avi - 4Gb .mp2 (I need another tower system as a dedicated data cruncher - BIG STYLEE)
The movie encoded was 'Behind Enemy Lines' btw.
What part of the preocess are you having trouble with exactly UK Man ?: )

Hi
Now I´m running win2k prof and have updated to Smartripper 2.41 ;-)
Whyl installing the new system and trying to rip and convert some new stuff I experienced that "no sound" problem again. So I tryed to play around with IFOedit and it seems to fix the problem. As soon as I have some spare time I will try to reproduce the workaround with IFOedit and let you know about the results.

I,m having similar problems with audio when I try to create for the the movie "Above the Law"
Ripped dvd with smart ripper, selected audio settings and saved project with dvd2avi, but it did not generate the .wav file only the .d2v file.
Instructions say file creation would take about an hour for p3/800. I have p2/500 and it took only 7 minutes 22 seconds to create .d2v but no .wav file. Something is wrong.
Any help ?

yeh listen the reason they give u a estimated time for the DVD2AVI program to convert is so u can estimate your own time depending on your comp speed
from what u say, and the time it took for u to create your file this clearly means that the TMPEGEnc.exe program will not recognise the file and display saying unsupported
SO the reason your .d2v file is being created so quickly is because you are using a too up to date DVD2AVI program u need to download the earlier version which is called DVD2AVI_1.76 you will find it available on the main start page of the DVD ripping and converting guide on afterdawn.com

Thanks, uk_mewz.
I will try your advise. But, I'm still having problems with DVD2AVI not producing a .wav file during decoding and creating the .dv2 project file.
Think the earlier verson, DVD2AVI_1.76, will solve this too?

Seems that your advise to download the earlier version which is called DVD2AVI_1.76 worked.
The decoding and creating the .d2v file was accomplished, along with the decoded .wav file.
It took about 2 hours and 22 minutes to produce the project with DVD2AVI, and about 15 hours to encode with TMPGEnc.
Thanks for your help and info.

Hey!
I'm having the same problem.
I just used smartripper (2.4 I think)
to rip my life as a house to my hard drive. it all goes fine, but when i try to playback using zoom player or windows media player, the first vob has no sound. all the rest of the vob's are fine though
I don't have a dvd burner and am not interested on putting the movie on a disk... is there some work around to this?
Thanks,
Eduardo

@erg, why on earth are you using those players ? they are good for MPG/AVI or music files, but not for DVD/VOB files! get WinDVD or PowerDVD to do the job!

I agree totally with sefy and herbsman. PowerDVD and WinDVD, especially WinDVD, are the players you should be using. I have used them both and have never experienced any problems with either of them. My own personal choice is WinDVD. I think you will find these will resolve your problem.
Hope this helps.

This whole no sound issue has happened to a couple of my rips too... namely, Triple X and Die Another Day. None of the VOBs had any sound while being played on PowerDVD nor WinDVD. I used both Smartripper (with ticks in the right places on Stream Process) and Decrypter with no success. DVD Shrink 1.0.X produced an error while re-authoring but DVD Shrink 2.2 worked great (finally) with Die Another Day. I'm gonna be trying to do my back up of Triple X tonight to see if it works as well. I don't really know what happened wrong. I've backed up a dozen DVDs before and I've only encountered this problem now. As for the Spiderman movie, I was able to rip that one up using smartripper and the VOBs played great individually. Backed up that one with audio. Okay that's it, enough rambling for me.
