off topic, updates arent all that bad, if i didnt have that web browser that comes on 2.6, at school or at work.. id go nuts, plus you can put hella cool backgrounds on your psp ! i have like 3 games for it. and i doubt anything else is gonna be worth paying for anyways, so unless something big like lets say an online RPG or something like that comes out.. im not gonna waste my money on this crappy gaming system.. but i would buy memory sticks for this kick ass portable multi media center ! ^_^

2.6 Crack For 1.5 Users. [UTE]
Well, I recently got my PSP[ firmware V. 1.50] and I've been living it up with all the free games I could possibly want, but I know that my fellow 1.5 PSP gamers feel a little bit inferior to those who upgraded to 2.6 and are enjoying the full functionality of their PSP. With the new 2.6, you could could view RSS feeds, surf the internet on your web-browser, listen to music and watch movies in WMA format! But with the new update, you wouldn't be able to play homebrew games and run ISOs off your memory stick... or can you? I've taken Sony's 2.6 Version update and recompiled it so that now you can enjoy the new functions and have homebrew apps and games as well! Now you can play newly released games such as Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Socom right off your memory stick along with all the other ISOs you must have. This has already been tested by me =) and I can say that it works great. It feels as if I still have firmware V. 1.5 but with all the added enhancements of 2.6!
Directions for installing the cracked firmware.
1. Prepare to save the update data on Memory Stick Duo? media using one of the following methods:
-Connect the PSP? system to the PC using a commercially available USB cable
-Connect a commercially available Memory Stick USB Reader/Writer to the PC
-Use the Memory Stick slot on the PC
2. Create a folder for the update data on the Memory Stick Duo? media.
Using your PC/MAC, create a folder named "PSP" on the Memory Stick Duo? media. Within the "PSP" folder, create a folder named "GAME". Within the "GAME" folder, create a folder named "UPDATE". (Folder names are not case-sensitive.)
3. Download and unzip the update data that I've provided [http://rapidshare.de/files/8325780/EBOOT.PBP.html] and save it in the "UPDATE" folder created in step 2.
4. Insert the Memory Stick Duo? media containing the update data in the PSP? system.
5. Start the update data.
6. Confirm that the update was successful.
After the update has been completed, select "System Settings" under from the home menu, and then select "System Information". If the System Software field displays the version number of the update, the update was successful.
-> I AM NOT RESPONSiBLE FOR DAMAGES THAT MAY OCCUR.THIS HAS BEEN TESTED BY [UTE] AND IS IN DEVELOPMENT.<-

As of now....there is not 2.01 downgrade or one of higher standards, just be patient, and check on the updates and one of our faithful hacker will get the job done soon...just do all of us a favor and stop begging....its just sad.

Ok. Here's my theory.
I have a Pocket PC. Last summer I didn't charge it at all, since I never used it when I wasn't going to school. When I turned it on in September everything on it had reset. There's 36MB of memory on it built it, for things like manual programs and such; The same for the PSP.
What if you ran the battery dry and didn't charge it for a few weeks. Maybe it's possible after the system shuts down from battery loss over a long period of time the system will reset to default settings like the Pocket PC. It could be possible that this will rollback the system's firmware since it too runs on Memory not a portable Hard Drive.
Just a thought. Keep in mind I haven't studied on the PSP's system specs or hardware. I'm only stating a theory based on observation.
And before people start flaming me about things like "Who would not use a PSP for weeks just to rollback the firmware!?" I want to remind you to get a life and go bother someone else as I'm only stating an opinionated theory.

nope, if you leave it uncharged wont work, it will just make you set the time again, that's about it. take it from a real irresponsible and lazy psp owner.

Ya dude bestbuy with a protection plan will take back a psp if it has internal malfunctions. DO NOT MAKE OUTSIDE DAMAGE. But if you want to mess it up just remove the battery and squirt water in the back and make sure it doesn't work. My ipod went through the wash and I took and back and there ok heres a new one.
Anyone know if cyberbob7's technique works?
In fact I think we would be fooling our selves if we have a community this large, and did not realize that there are some enemies present.
