Quote: Yeah I hated Wakka too. I never actually finished FFVIII. I was playing through it earlier this year. I got a little carried away with level building. All my guys were at level 100 by disc 2! I had 100 Holy and Flare's on three guys. Squall had heart. FFVIII had arguably the best plot in the series, along with FFX. The first time I saw the summon for Bahamut Zero, I was like holy shit, that's the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life. Anima's overdrive in FFX was sweet. So how about the super tough bonus bosses? Who beat Omega and Shin Ryu in FFV? What about The Emerald and Ruby Weapons in FFVII? What about the Omega Weapon in FFVIII? Then there were all the extras from the monster catching in FFX, concluding with the menacing Nemesis. I beat Omega and Shin Ryu if FFV, and Nemesis from FFX. I wussed out on the other's lol.
i completely finished FVIII with all side quests completed too and enjoyed every bit of the game, i could not stop playing that game lol i agree with you there about FVIII it had the best story from all FF and had a more serious approach towards the characters, if you are amazed by Bahamut Zero summon the you haven't seen Eden (found in disc 3 and 4) that kicks ass.
my favorite summon in FFX has to be anima when it sends the enemy to hell yojimbo for being a samurai and most of all Shiva when she kills the enemy with the click of her finger (and i use to click my finger at the same time too lol) all aurons overdrives win hands down. and lulu's attack is so funny especially when you kill a desert worm with a little moggle XD.
the best secret boss for me is penance (12000000 HP) from FFX it is just as hard as omega and ruby in FVII. OMG and yojimbo dark aeon that took me months to kill him because he could kill you so easily even with the amount of HP i had (nearly max, normal grid).

Imo I think ff6-ff9 and fftactics *oh no not advance that is garbage* are the best. ffx don't really get me into the game that much. I disliked tidus only really liked auron, kim, rikku, and wakka. Though i did like the summon combat from the game. The only really big bad villan in this game was sin/yu yevon no sephiroth or a cross-dresser named kuja or a looney madman ie kefka. I did like the final soundtrack of ffx, was most enjoyable, really different from the music from the series. Did not like the sphere grid but im into the materia system that was in ff7.
As for FFX selling alot of units is from being an early launch title, Used the graphics the ps2 had to offer, and lulu's boobs. :D

Always did like those goth chicks lol. I think Lulu went on to date Marilyn Manson. Most of the extra bosses in FFX were easy. You just needed each character's ultimate weapon or the Break HP limit ability. I just maxed out Tidus' and Auron's agility and attack and killed Nemesis with quick hit. Whenever he got a chance to cast Ultima, you'd just summon an Aeon the turn before and they'd stand in and take the 99,999 damage for the team. I hated Wakka because to unlock his overdrives you needed to play blitzball. To hell with that, Blitzball was gayer than gay. The ending, well it was sad but it suited the game. How about the final boss Jecht/Sin track from Rammstein. That was an awesome track. FFVIII was awesome too. I liked the seriousness and the plot. Squall to me was one of the more believable FF heroes. I like Cloud, I dunno I didn't care for the Materia system that much. I definitely lucked the draw system in FFVIII a lot better. I've also got FFI-X on PS2. Of course FF3 is on emulator (IMBNES) since it was never released for the PS2/PSX. The only one I don't have is the FFXI, since I don't play PS2 games online. So who was the most doable FF chick? Lulu's up there, but I think I have to go with Selphie. What do you guys think?

The FFXII Demo came with Dragon Quest VIII in the U.S. You could always download it, that's what I did. I have backups of Dragon Quest VIII (which I'm playing now, great game btw) and the Demo. I downloaded the Demo because the original copy of DQVIII I backed up didn't have the demo with it. It's okay, not great. I don't quite know what you mean about fighting your Aeons in the FFX international version. At the end of FFX U.S., you do have to fight them. They all die in one attack if your guys are leveled up. I did all the extra stuff before I beat it, so Seymour was more like Semen, he died in one hit. It was the same for Sin, the Aeons, and Yu Yevon. The ending was excellent. Tidus' well I didn't see that coming, Auron, definitely saw that coming, they hinted at it when they were at the shrine in Seymour's village (trying to leave out spoilers for anyone hasn't played it). Auron was definitely an awesome character. Who was the best FF supporting character? I'm going to say, man I liked Seifer in FFVIII, but Auron was probably cooler. Golbez in FFIV was cool too. Yeah my vote goes to Auron. What do you guys think?

I beat the FFX so easy because I used all GFs. I goto random battle and got full overdrive for all GFs. Then saved them all until I fought the boss. Then used all GFs with the super fight (overdrive). NO boss will match with that. So easy to beat the Bosses. That is why I dont like FFX.

Well like Boobooman already mentioned, most of the story bosses are easy in FF games. The extra bosses like the Weapon's and monster catching stuff FFX were the real challenge. You beat the Omega weapon and all you get is a crappy proof of Omega that does nothing. It's a trophy, that's all. Which FF game did you like the most out of FFI-VI? I go with FFV. EX Death, Three Worlds, and super hard optional bosses in treasure chests, gotta love it.

The FFI-VI are all SUCK. Graphic is terrible. I start to play FFVII to FFX. They are better in graphic and game-play. However, I only play them one and that is it. The FF Tactics I have already played 4-5 times.

Well that's all there was back in the day. The Graphics may not have been awesome, but back then games had heart. I love old school games. I don't care about graphics, I care about plot, characters, and length. Some of the best RPG's of all time were released for the SNES. Dragon Quest VI, Lufia 2, Tales of Phantasia, the Original Star Ocean, FFIV, FFV, FFVI, and Chrono Trigger were all released for the SNES. All the FF games, DQ games and Chrono Cross games got their start in the 16 bit era or earlier. The Genesis had some good RPG's including the Phantasy Star and the Shining series. In some ways I don't think games nowadays hold a candle to games back then. Game companies were forced to give you plot because they didn't have amazing visuals. Nowadays all they care about is visuals. The emphasis on character development and plot is almost non existent. At least that's my opinion. You know that FF tactics game you love so much is largely based a SNES game called Tactics Ogre. It had pretty mediocre visuals, but FF Tactics borrows a lot from it as far as gameplay. Tactics Ogre was later ported to the PSX. I don't suppose anyone would give a rip, but here's a link to my blog entry about console RPG's: http://my.afterdawn.com/tokijin/blog_entry.cfm/187

Nice blog entry.
I agree that FF Tactics may borrow a lot from Tactics Ogre of SNES. But FF Tactics has its own way. It has an amazing graphic, views in battles, game-play, strategy, story and characters. That is why FF Tactics is outstanding. The Tactics Ogre for PSX came out later but it still can?t compare to FF Tactics.

Never really had much of a thing for final fantasy ii up to v, mystic quest and xi was good though. Also have to agree with Tojkin about the final fantasy xii demo. Too much change in the battle system to compare it with others in the series, (will have to wait for the release). As for Dragon Quest viii TOP GAME quite hard in parts. Not too sure about the silent hero perspective though. Does anyone know the release date for FFxii NTSC or PAL. :)
P.s Does any1 remember how impressive the demo was to FFviii compared to the not too impressive FFxii, makes you wonder doesn't it?

FF usually has ReAlLy good graphics. Expecially the time they took to make those smg's.
I didnt start playing ff till X. And i loved it, i liked x-2 and im waiting for xII.
And some bosses are hard, like seymore in that like big machine. That took a while to beat. And if you got the magus sisters. But not anima, at the end when you defeat ur aeons, they are extreemly hard to beat if ythey are a hard level. Well unless you did'nt destroy your other aeons, like buhamut and shiva.

I would SERIOUSLY recommend getting FFvii, viii and ix while you wait the long wait. The storylines are much deeper, graphics are extremely good for ps1 and the levelling up systems are better by far. If you liked ffx then they are well worth the d/l or purchase. Completed x-ii and i have to say that it doesn't even scrape the surface as far as vii, viii,ix and x go. :)
Any ones views on ffvii advent children, definately the best CG movie up to date me thinks.
Any newz on Dirge of cerberus release?
P.S. FFvii rules!!
Sephiroph Rules all!!

Now it maybe too late to play FFVII, FFVIII and FFIX. I know they have good storylines, graphics are extremely good at that time before PS2 and Xbox were born. Now, their graphics look not that good any more because we have PS2 and Xbox now. Plus the game will consume a lot of hours > 100 hours.

Yeah I'm probably a little older than a lot of you guy's, so that's probably why I have a little more appreciation for old school games. I'll be the first to admit since I've had a modchip, it's difficult to think about playing my PSX backups. I've got a ton of PS2 RPG's I want to play through like Shadow Hearts 1 and 2, Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuners 1 and 2, and Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. If it's dark with demons, monsters, and blood, that's what I like lol. It'll be awhile before I sit down and play the original Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest on emulator lol. So what's everybody's favorite game of all time? Mine is Xenogears. What's yours?
