Not quite. When I stuck the straw straight down, it didn't do anything. Bending it a little to left made the straw hit dead-on on the switch. The switch is under the hinge, but since the gap in the middle is 100% closed off, the only way to get the switch is through the hole between the plate and the clip or the gap to the left of the clip and plate.

Just did the MOD to my sisters 75001 and it worked flawless. took me 11min on the clock.
Though I used diff materials for the front switch I used a twist tie not card board. and for the break I used a twist tie too. And for the straw I used a MC donalds on bent it to the left at the bootom and it worked on the first shot! I used Tyco adhesive tape (silver meant for heat ducts its very sticky and it worked perfect.
Thanks for all your help guys.
Note with the thin twist ties and mcdonalds straw its working and the lid opens and closes perfect.

Nice job man, pleased to know the MOD worked for your sister's PlayStation 2! Would you mind posting how to do the MOD with the twist-tie cardboard method?

Well I used a straw the same way as you, then i used a twist tie for the front switch by taping it beside and using a tooth pick to push it down and shape it and a twist tie for the brake by pushing the break open and jaming it in the holde beside and taped it. basically your mod but twist tie that came with the ps2 instead of cardboard.
the i used a mcdonalds straw cause my straws didnt work for some reason and i had a mcdonalds drink beside me to i ran to the washroom cleaned the straw tried it and it worked on the first try. the mcdonalds straw is a bit bigger which micht be why it worked easier.
Anyway I have you to thank for me having attempted this. thank you!
See I upgraded to swap magic 3.6 and still had my old 3.3 here and thanks to your mod my sister was able to play backups using my old 3.3 right when she took the ps2 outta the box.

Try taping everything down with black electric tape. You will see less of the pieces.

Hey, who here thinks this should be stickyed? I think it does as this will be VERY usefull for people looking for a free way to MOD their Version 13/14 slims without voiding the warranty.

Me thinks it should be stickied!
I did it finally, yep the straw way or the Ace way ;) - Thanks man!
I couldn't get the whole straw in there no matter how i much i pressed it. I thought why not disect the straw and use only one fold. This material is the best you can use I think. I didnt even bend it. It went in and bent by itself when i kept pushing slowly until the disk started to spin. Thats it, i left it there and switched disks.
A pic: Hope it explains it clearly.
The bent end was inside.
BUT.. my backups i burned on Memorex dvd-r aren't working ok. Tomb Raider runs but gets stuck all the time, its like a record skipping. Bits of sound keep repeating as the laser keeps trying to read again and again. Is Memorex no good for ps2? What do you guys use that works perfectly?

Most Memorex media(to my knowledge) are made by CMC Magnetics, which, according to what I hear, is the crappiest media manufacturer of all. Use media that codes out as Taiyo Yudens, Mitsubishi Chemicals(found in Verbatim DataLifePlus discs), Sonys, or Maxells(Made in Japan). Sony works perfectly for me(in CD format). I have yet to try my DVD+R Sonys(made by Taiyo Yuden since they're made in Japan), but I'll give my feedback once I try them.
Oh, and by the way, nice job. But, remember to fold down the straw and tape it down with either electric tape or normal tape.

I am pretty sure you CAN backup/copy a swap-magic disc. But I also believe that you need a unburned copy to load the burned copy. Its kinda backwards and dumb but thats how it is.

I did a test with the CD version(PAL), and I can't load it, not through Cog-Swap, and not through CD Loader, either. So, there is no way to make a working backup of Swap Magic 3.6 PAL CD version.
Actually, you can. I made a backup of Version 3.6 CD again, and it works no problem(except for TOC refresh, considering I have a slim).

Thanks for the info on media! I just made a few backups on some old 4x Kodak DVD+Rs. They are all working great.
Are 16x disks made differently than 4x or 8x? Someone on here was recommending disks labeled 8x or less, faster media is suppose to be bad even if you burn slow?

I'd just like to know something about that Kodak media. Check the media ID of those discs. Check this thread out to help you know who made your Kodak media: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/240341. Keep in mind that if these discs code out as being discs from classes 4 and 3, scrap the backups. Go for class 1 or class 2 media.

My Kodaks aren't even on the list. Bought some Maxell and Sony. They even fit properly, the Kodak didnt. I had to really press it down hard else it always popped up.

That's good media, but make sure they're made in Japan. Those are better than "Made in Taiwan" Sony and Maxell media.

Try to make your straw peice longer and then stick it in. Keep in mind that before you put the straw in, place a heavy object over the straw, and leave a few minutes to let the straw get flat like a sheet of paper(not that thin, though).

I'll give it a shot bro, thanks.
Do you have AIM?
I've just put the 3 things in like the tutorials have said but haven't put any tape or anything heavy on them, I think the problem has to be the straw because if everything was covered right, the disc would spin, correct?

You can't copy swap magic unless you had a way to boot it and that would defeat the purpose of SM.
This works great in conjunction with Jjax's guide
I might right a dual-disc method tutorial tommorow, depends if my method works.
Great guide.
EDIT: **** **** dualdisc didn't work

starter one side game the other. didn't work, but I think that was because I tested it with a PS1 game.
