Do you guys know of any sites that will make an iso for people like me, or have a dummy's guide for those who just dont understand how this all works?
I have an older ps2 with a 120 gig hd in it, and an infinity mc in it. I load from a dvd i found on a torrent site, and it works great, but id like to upgrade to the newer one. The /c /s /b /l are the only updates i think id really need, but trying to sort through all the instructions drive me batty..

I successfully used the rapidshare link with no issues, it burnt great and the cd runs much faster than the dvd ever did.
For the first link, i just clicked on it in my browser.

Hi guys, I'm finding 8.0b difficult to navigate - I mean, where's the select button compatibility gone from all the games?
I know there are controls on load-up but it seems no matter what I press makes no difference to how the games load. Can anyone help?
Thanks, Steve.

the select menu should still be there, the startup selectors are to change to UDMA or MDMA which changes the HDDS access speed. it fixes some game compatibility but shouldnt really be played with unless you know what it does. It can quite easily break your HDD if not used properly.

Sorry for this but I'm really new to PS2 modding, and I'm only doing this on behalf of my son.
Could someone either explain in idiotspeak, or point me in the direction of some idiotproof instructions of what to do to get HDLoader running on the PS2... please...
We have a 200Gb HD installed and use HDAdvance which works fine for backing up most games but it won't work with GTA Liberty City as we know.
So we need to use HDLoader, right?
I burned the V0.8b ISO to a CD and put it in the PS2 CD drive - the PS simply complained that it wasn't a PS2 compatible disk!
What do we have to do exactly to get this running??
Many thanks in advance for your patience.

Come on guys, give us a break. I've been looking for answers to this till it feels like my eyes will pop out of their sockets.
All I need is HDLoader up and running so that I can run GTA LC.
I found Independencecompiler 3.0 and that sounded like a good bet so I put an image together and burned it to CD using burnatonce. This is what I ended up with on the CD:
The files folder contains these:
Is this looking correct? If not why not - anyone?
If I put this disc in the PS2 it complains and says it's not a PS2 compatible disc. So do I boot the PS2 using one of the PS1 discs that I put the ident in the title.db file, use the slide card to remove the disc, put the HDLoader disc as shown above in and close the tray. HDLoader should then boot shouldn't it? Well I thought so but it doesn't.
What am I doing wrong here.
Someone please let me know as I've been trying things for two days solid now and it's really getting to me!!!
Pete

@worcester
is your PS2 Modded in any way? or are you just using a Hard Drive and HD Advanced discs?
if your PS2 isn't modded then d/l'ing and burning a disc isn't going to work...

The PS2 is not modded except to be able to use a slide card to open the disc tray.
It's a standard PS2 + Maxtor 200Gb Hdd + slide card enabled. It's not chipped or otherwise modded.
The CD I burned was not dl's as an image but built using Independencecompiler 3.0. I added a half dozen PS1 SLES ID's to the Title.db file and added HDLoader and Boot ELF's and then burned the CD using burnatonce. I assumed from what I read that the PS2 has to be booted with one of the PS1 games whose SLES is in the Title.db file and then swap the disc for the HDLoader disc using the slide card.
All we really want to do is to be able to backup games to the HD and to run them from there. We currently use HDAdvance V3.0. That works fine and that's good enough for us but we can't run GTA LC as it's incompatible with HDAdvance.
I read somewhere that GTA LC will run from HD using HDLoader V0.8a or above and that's all I'm trying to achieve.
All I'm asking is if someone can tell me what I need to do to get HDLoader running. Can someone do that please??
Thanks
Pete

worcester...ignore the last 2 replies....obv they dint read ur reply properly...
since u dont have a modded ps2 there is no way u can set up the memory card for the independence exploit from ur PS2...
Your DO NOT slide and swap the disc for booting hdloader......i dunno how that even got into the picture..unless ur using swapmagic to boot the exploit disc..
The procedure u have to follow is :
1) Use the Independence Exploit Tool to create a boot disc with the title.db with ID's of some original PS1 games you own.
2) You must boot the exploit disc so that it can set up your memory card. Since your PS2 isnt modded you CANNOT DO THIS...
Find someone with a modded ps2 and put ur memory card in it and boot the exploit disc..it will set up your memory card for the exploit..
You can do it on your PS2 if you own SwapMagic...if u have SwapMagic, first boot swapmagic then use the slide tool and boot the exploit disc..and ur memory card will be setup.. DONT TRY TO DOWNLOAD SWAPMAGIC..it wont work.
3) Once u get the exploit setup all you have to do is leave one of the PS1 discs u used permanently in the drive..
When u turn on the ps2 it will automatically start boot.elf from the memory card if the PS1 disc is in the drive..
For simplicity purposes delete the boot.elf from the disc and rename hdloader.elf to boot.elf.
That way it will directly start hdloader first instead of going to a launcher.

Actually you at the links that are provided before posting. As he has a pressed hdadvance he can copy the CD image to his HDD with WINHIIP then boot the image with hdadvance.
That way will let you get an exploit running.

hi guys, i have burnt that cd iso version with both Nero and DVD Decrypter but none of them will work for me, i don´t know why.
Could someone please tell me how to do it, i have 0.7c cd version that i burnt from an iso i downloaded and it works great so i don´t think it is a problem with my laser reading the disc or anything but this new version 0.8b just wont work, i would really appreciate your help.
PS: by the way, what´s the difference between the iso and cue versions from that file?

Hi guys. I'm noob with Hd Loader and Independence compiler.
I read some of the forums already and i found a bit problem
Here's what I done so far.
I downloaded the HD Loader upgrade at rapidshare
I ran the Independence Compiler and put an original PS1 Game (Star Ocean) and put the new HD Loader 0.8b ELF file.
I created the image(.cue) file and burn it to a disc.
I ran it to my ps2 (slim V12) and finished the installation.
Then here's the problem.
quote from other thread
"... eject the exploit disk.
if your ps1 game is an original, put it in and boot.
if your ps1 game is a backup use swap magic to boot it.
when you try to boot the ps1 game the exploit will trigger (the only disk that will trigger this is the one you used when you made the title.db above)
the screen will come up to 'press select to configuer'..."
I boot the same star ocean (original) disc into my ps2 but it won't trigger the config. It just straight up to the game.
What did I do wrong?? Please tell me!!

You're using a SLIM PS2 that's where the problem is going to be...
SLIM PS2's don't like MC Exploits ...
What kind of Hard Drive Setup in your PS2 are you using? HDLOADER doesn't work with External Hard Drives...

Guess you already answered all my question then.
Anyways, any suggestion on how to play games via external HDD connected to V12 ps2 connected by USB.
Currently I have HDD Loader and HD Advance.
Is there anyway to bypass it??

i recomend not to bother with USB hdds the pstwo only has USB 1.1 ports that are ultra slow, most games lag constantly, heaps dont load at all. IF you really wont a HDD have a look at hdconnect and get someone to install an internal HD to your slimline.
