So whats their plan to distribute hombrew content? They have to be carefull themselve because if they're not they could be the ones to show us exactly how to hack the ps3

It's like this sony won't be distributing homebrew in stores or anything.It's up to the homebrew publisher to make it available.It will be downloadable and easy to get.Probably right from sony's online service.

yeah but if you can distribute homebrew content it's possible to distribute pirated content as well. I know sony will have tight locks on that so wont distribute it on their service. Still you might just be able to downlaod game on your pc and then some how FTP them to your ps3 hdd without it knowing the difference. Just a thought.

u cant FTP with the ps2, what makes you think you can on ps3? i tried and it started working, but it asked me for a special password to connect that i did not know, nor could find or figure out.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

@xyqo how would it be easier to get pirated stuff?
Sony will have policies and regulate everything that goes in and out of it's online service...You won't be able to upload pirated stuff and therefore you won't be able to download it.
Homebrew will be allowed on sony's service, pirated stuff won't.

O h yeah I forgot .It does suck that the pro ps3 thread was closed but anubis's was too so I feel bad for him because it was the most successful one ever here.I had nothing to do with either being closed though.

I was saying on the first page that Sony wont allow modding on the PS3... i meant that they might add some type of security like the slim ps2 that blocks mem card exploits. Modding and homebrew are totally different. Sure there will be homebrews but i doubt there will be mod chips that allows back ups to be played. Especially on blueray, which wont have a burner any time soon. The only PS3 back up source would be HDD based, and i doubt Sony will make it as easy as the PS2.
PS3...it only does everything(that Sony allows it to)

there is always a way around the tightest of securities. if people have infultrated banks, emptied safes, and gotten out unnoticed, then i think the ps3 will be hacked sometime. it didnt take long for the 360

i still think sony is going to try INSANELY hard to keep their system unhackable via. updates, CRAZY codes, etc. i mean sony is really the biggest crusher of piracy and hacking, i think we give sony not enough credit on how smart they are.

Sony will win the war but not that easily. Its cost more for the consumer and it costs more for game developers make games on so its not inticing for either of the two most important parties in gaming.

Ok, I know you won't believe me but the Eye Toy wasn't invented by Sony. Tom Barlet's Robot World in the Wisconsin Dells had this a good 5 years before Ps2 came out. Nintendo had a Track Allstar game or whatever for NES and SNES that came with a pad similar to DDR but no where near the potential so i'll give sony credit for bring that to us. Guitar Hero, see now that's what i want to see. I love that game.
I believe that casual, non-hardcore gamers will get Wii just to turn it on a couple of times for some quick plays or w/e but the more hardcore gamers will get a Ps3 or 360 AND a Wii ( Wii being the secondary console ).
