i just got my wisdom teeth out and they gave me hydrocodone..hooray.

of all systems what controller do you prefer and why?

But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

Same here. I kind of liked the feeling of the GCN's controller, it was comfortable, but the 360's controller is also pretty confortable.

But if I had to pick the most confortable/best controller, I'd go with the GCN controller.

gcn? gamecube? i hted that for fps, the c-stick sucked cuz i'd keep slipping off it.

i like the ps2, and soon to be ps3 controller. there are 4 triggers which i adore, presure sensitive buttons, and symetrical analog sticks for easier controller in fps.

The SNES controller. By far my favorite. It's the controller i've spent the most time with.
Followed by the 360 controller. That thing is pretty nice.

if only the 360's control sticks were symmetrical id enjoy it a about 90 percent as much as the ps2/3 controller.

heres some new news for you all to be interested in.

the warhark devs knew of the tilt controller for ps3 before anyone but devs knew of the wii's motion sensing.
http://www.gameshout.com/news/developer_of_warhawk_knew_about_ps3...

a little more bout the online service, aswell as sony saying several games in development for ps3 could not work at all on the 360 due to the hardware not being well enough.

anubis, that first link doesn't support your claim:
Quote:
Incognito Inc., the developer of Warhawk for PS3 has stated that they were "officially" aware of the new PS3 6-degrees-of-motion a few weeks prior to E3. Although Sony's Brian Upton insists that Sony has been working on this technology for a very long time.
It doesn't say which e3 it was, although by the date it seems that it is referring to e3 2006. The Wii-mote motion sensing was announced at e3 2005 I believe.
Quote:
Sony however proclaims that this technology has been in the works for this console system for quite some time and that it appears to them that Sony and Nintendo simply announced the technology at the same time.
This is completely untrue. Nintendo had revealed a motion sensing controller long before Sony stunned everyone with their ps3 controller announcements.

I believe that Nintendo announced the controller at the 2005 E3 while Sony announced their controller alittle bit before 2006 E3.

i found the latest ramblings of apple and sony teaming up more interesting than this. im curious why you don't like ipods. i have a 30gig i take everywhere, and the possibility that sony and apple did work something out for the ps3, it would be just another added benefit.

not made by sony thats why he doesnt like them, takes any chance he gets to bash MS and people wonder why i do the same to Sony. People need to get off the ps3 wang its crazy, never any admittance of flaw or wrongdoing by sony fans and all they do is bash the competetion, as you've seen i own up to MS having a rather suspect launch and terrible launch issues but i know they arent the only ones to experience those thype of things...

this is the only thing i can realy agree with anubis on, im not fan of the ipods, they are far inferior in sound quality to most of the sony products. even the sony walkman phones walk all over the ipods when it comes to sound quality. thats bout the only thing i appreciate sony for at the mo. their ps3 console is looking expensive and the price of the games are rumoured to be high. il stick with my xbox 360 for now, but may get a ps3 when the price drops and if/when it becomes the standard console format

yeah, not only that but ipods are worthless after a year when the next G comes out. and now you'll have to buy a new one, if you havnt already broken its weak and fragile lcd screen. they are too trendy for me aswell.

So, some new info about testing has arisen. I believ the ps3 will not have many bugs at launch because of this. The article is about backwards compatability. The comments here about sony makes me feel more confident with its v1 initial model.
Quote:
According to Tom Reeves, VP of semiconductor and technology services at the chip maker, which makes the PS3's processor, Sony rejected the console even when it could play all but 40 of its old titles.
Quote:
It means that an unbelievable amount of testing has gone into the new console. As Reeves told Reed's Electronic News: ?Sony is very concerned about quality and backward compatibility. They want to get this right.?
They, with this time, have obviously tested well. If they did not, then they may have released a 600 dollar product that didnt meet up to what they said, and would depress the community. The ps3 is 100% bc.

Here's another link to the Tom Reeves interview:

http://www.reed-electronics.com/electronicnews/article/CA6350202....

Was he really talking about PS1 games? Or did he mean PS2 games?
Quote:
When there were about 40 Playstation 1 games that didn?t work properly, that didn?t pass their criteria for quality.
I'm a little worried about their yields of the Cell. 10 - 20 percent may be a move up from previously reported figures though. Keep your fingers crossed.
Quote:
With a chip like the Cell processor, you?re lucky to get 10 or 20 percent.

that was interesting. but with the cell he said there is a way to double the yields, and burning them in will also increase yeilds.

Electronic News: Let?s look at design for manufacturability from a different standpoint. IBM has said it needs seven of the eight cores on the Cell processor to work for Sony?s Playstation. Will there be an aftermarket for chips with fewer operational cores?
Reeves: There are a lot of chips with six cores operational, and we?ve been thinking about whether we should really throw all of those away. We also have a separate part number for chips with all eight cores good. The stuff that?s going to be for medical imaging, aerospace and defense and data uses eight cores.

Electronic News: But might it be the less-expensive version of Playstation 3?
Reeves: It could, but I don?t think Sony has thought about offering that. That doesn?t mean there aren?t good uses for a chip with four SPEs [synergistic processing elements].
The PS3 and Sony should insist on Cell chips with all 8 SPE's intact otherwise we may be looking at a lot of bugs. They need to increase those yields if we're to avoid a shortage. This is making me nervous already.

uhhh..dood. the less you need the higher yeilds you get. need only 7 means chips with 7 spes will work, and ones with 8 working spes will have one disabled adding more the the pot of usable chips. 7 is more than enought for the ps3. the yeilds are that low for a perfect 8spe i believe.

you all should post as much as you can. i'm sitting here waiting for ever untill one post comes here or one there. it's sad. these threads seem to be dying lately.
