i hope the protective layer on the bluray is as good as they tout it to be, because the distance from surface to media is only 0.1mm so i heard somewhere (not positive).
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

yeh i heard they scatch easlily but i would doubt that seeing how much money is being spent to back the format.

Holy smokes that wouldent be good.Just imagen used games and rental most of them wouldent be working because of scrathces. Sometimes when i rent games for ps2 they have to many scratches so they dont work. Now they'll be more then ever games not working so lets just hope that problem wont be a problem.

back up on blu ray might be expensive... im hoping for a new PS3 version of HD loader.
PS3...it only does everything(that Sony allows it to)

i think so. i dont get it tho. if its so universal why does only the psp use them? i would like to see a umd attachment to the ps3, maybe even blank umds. if you want to format to excell, you need to open it to the public. that is why they fail.

duh i just said why. they always kept their hardware tightly protected and unusable in anything but what it uses. like a minidisk player, no one has a mini disk drive, and the big mini disks dont work in the players. atrac, nothing uses it except sony things. umd (universal media disk) is not so universal, only working on psp. they need a umd burner and blanks for every day use if they wanted it to kick off. blu ray is a bit more usable than their previous ventures.

did you just say the word "duh"??? I'll let that go seeing how only a chick from the movie clueless would even begin to use that word or maybe my 6 year old brother but im sure he would even speak that nonsense. So have fun buying a console that relies heavily on a new format and is made by a company that EVERY time they have brought a new format to the market it has FAILED COMPLETELY!That seems like like an educated purchase and just furthers the logic of ps3 winning the next gen war im with you all the way...

the newest and best thing about the ps3 is likely to fail as all its sony format predecessors have.Thats the reason people are paying mroe for the ps3 and the reason graphics will supposedly be slightly better, now if that fails then what?MS looks pretty good for not getting into the format war with both feet and just having add ons as options,they didnt rush the 360 and its not behind they just were SMART about it.

the new format is more likely to win tho, HD-DVD is being delay alot too, and it doesnt have nearly at all the movie support as bluray, nor the space. i dont mind it, i have a new 1080 HDTV so what a bonus eh? plus the games coming out looks awesome in case you havnt noticed. plus the bonus emmeded things like linux and a web browser will give it that extra kick. its a well investment in my case, but you may be different.
ahaha you think they were smart in the launch? you think they didnt rush? they produced no more than 2 months before launch and hurried the factories. they had 800,000 launch units, and a good quantity would crash, overheat, and scratch people disks. this was due to rushing and lack of testing. it was a very beta product.
