it different because this has to be the burned copy, not the original like yours

i see what all the fuss is about now, but shouldn't be with DVDFAB2983>VOBBlanker>shrink/recode>imgburn

I have problems with RV. I updated AnyDVD and used in conjunction with DVD Decrypter. Should I use another program instead of decrypter?

Just did this movie with RipIt4Me. No problems.

@freedom2
Here's what mine showed - I had 2 more bad sectors than you:
Summary for drive D: (AnyDVD 6.0.4.5)
Drive (Hardware) Region: 1
Media is a Data DVD.
Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite)
Size of first Layer: 2084960 sectors (4072 MBytes)
Total size: 4169920 sectors (8144 MBytes)
Video DVD (or CD) label: RV
Media is CSS protected!
Video Standard: NTSC
Media is locked to region(s): 1!
RCE protection not found.
Found & removed wrong DVD structure!
Found & removed structural copy protection (Arccos, Puppetlock)!
Found & removed bogus title set!
Found & removed invalid VOBUs!
Autorun not found on Video DVD.
Found & removed 7 bad sector protections!
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!
No problems w/ AnyDVD and Clone - full back up removing most of the special features - 99%.
@MR1234
Change these setting in decrypter when running AnyDVD.
Go to tools>settings
°General Tab uncheck 'check for structure protection'
°CSS tab under css cracking method check 'none'
°I/O tab - under interface check either SPTI - Microsoft or Elby CDIO.
Running it thru Shrink w/ AnyDVD now - full back up.

As i said in my last post this combo should work, and it did
DVDFab2983>VobBlanker>shrink or Recode/ImgBurn, have not had any problems with this combo!
@ Binkie,
hmmm... i wonder why they are different?
Fullscreen, Widescreen maybe?
maybe from different countries?
BTW, pretty funny, didn't think it would be that funny.

@300bowler
That could be the diff - widescreen vs fullscreen. I bought the widescreen one.
Just finished full backup w/ Shrink & AnyDVD. No problems w/ that combo either.

@those that needed helps
As usual DVDFAB Decrypter (12 minutes to rip) + VobBlanker (5 minutes or less to process/clean and blank out junks that you don't need them).
Don't sweat RV ain't all that, it's how you use the programs and how you process/clean those unwanted junks.
Here are tons of FREE tools that can rip any dvds (yes.. even new released) flawlessly, regardless if it's RipGuard or ARccOS. Below are some very useful FREE tools to have.
<< *FREE* Ripper & Editing tools >>
** DVDFAB Decrypter - one of the best FREE ripper now (takes 12 minutes to rip)
** RipIt4Me - one of the best FREE COMBO/ripper including DVD Decrypter + PSL (12 - 15 minutes to rip)
** VobBlanker - one of the strongest FREE editing tool (2 - 5 minutes to process/fix fake structural, fake cells, dummy vts/pgc, etc. flawlessly, it can "cut, edit, strip and blank" out any scenes/vts/cells or unwanted junks.)
** FixVTS - one of the best FREE junks processing tool (works the same way like VobBlanker, but it "can not" edit or blank out unwanted junks.)
** PgcEdit - a very useful FREE editing tool.
<< *FREE* Transcoding tool >>
** DVD Shrink - (one of the best FREE transcoding engine).
<< *FREE* ISO/Image burning engines from LUK >>
** DVD Decrypter
** ImgBurn
For more info on how to use DVDFAB Decrypter or RipIt4Me, check out the links below:

Good lucks and happy burning.

Thanks Binkie...it got over that problem.. I was only having problems with VTS_18_01.. but after I copied it finally, I used VOB Blanker and it worked like a charm.
note: I saw this new feature on AnyDVD where it can copy the movie to your hard drive and remove the Copy Protection. I gave it a shot and it worked perfectly. Hell it even didnt gave me that error about an invalid file in VTS_*_* when I open DVD Shrink. But anyways thanks to all of you guys. I'm processing it right now

Np problemo on the questions :)
Yes just unzip it and run the .exe - safe mode not needed. Make sure no blanks are in the drive, no programs running and power stays on. Takes about a minute or less.
For the target size go to edit>preferences to set. Here's a pic:
Keep us posted - good, bad or otherwise
Oh and yes stay away from Staples brand media.

Hey crazyman1
Most important update for this drive would the firmware - only takes a min. Well if you count the rebooting after the drive is flashed than maybe a few minutes for the firmware to be 'properly' upgraded.
See since it hasn't been updated your drive may not reoognize or have the correct wrtie stratgies for some the new media - like the 16x or for the -R since it only writes to 8x
I would take those disc back too - hey you can't use/burn them (nor do you want to - been there done that w/ this manufacturer + a few more too :)
Check staples sales see if they didn't have any of the good brands I mentioned in my above post. If not they probably will on Sunday.
You can always check the media forum for the sales.
Keep us posted on the other Maxell +R - nade in japan?
How did that one turn out?

Hey crazyman1
You're welcome :)
But I hate to be the bearer of bad news - Memorex also uses CMC as a manufacturer quite often.
Check the disc manufactuer in NeroToolKit> Info Tool. Pop a blank in the drive - and check the disc tab for the manufacturer.
Post that back and we can tell you if thumbs up or thumbs down.

The goods one from my post above are Verbatim or made in Japan Sony or Fuji (usually made by Taiyo Yuden - one of the best) and made in Japan Maxell.
Best Buy has 100 Sony on sale tomm for 25.99 - cheapest I've ever seen them. Usually on sale they're 29.99 - still a good price.
Check the Memorex you bought - maybe you got Ritek which can be decent.

Oh my! I have never seen a Memorex with a Taiyo Yuden media code - TYG01.
This is a Taiyo code for 4x -R discs.
What's the rated speed on the Memorex you bought?
To also check if they are Taiyo look on the back close to the inner hub (still in 'purple' area. May need a magnifying glass but see if you see this code GD00xxxx (x's represent #'s)

@300bowler
I had to reread that a few times :)
Now if they had one of those Maxell's in the drive - TY did make some of the 4x.
The code on the back won't lie though - that's the 'mark' of the genuine stuff.
And b/4 I forget again - congrats on the sr status - keep up the good work!!
editted to add: It would be a 1st though - have never seen Memorex made by TY - just need somemore info from crazyman1
