yup, but to take advantage of people is unethical, i dont care what you say against it. profit in my eye, is when both parties come out completely happy with the deal. if someone is accually going to pay alot and be happy about it, be my guest, because that guy desrves the shaft.
now this being the camping thread, what all are you gunna take with?
my list is as follows:
cash
a thick coat
plush sleeping bag/blanket,
friends
weed
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

I live in a fairly small place...as in there probably won't be too many people camping out for a PS3, if any. I might camp at a Gamestop an hour away. I plan on preordering it as a backup plan too. The thing is, I don't want to camp out and then find out that the PS3 alone is 700 or anything too much over 600. That'll piss me off very much.
So I've never camped before. Do you just plop a chair right down in front of the store's front doors?

heh, if you call madison, wi a big city.. its just i know there can be alot of lunatics out there who may threaten me or my place in line over this, and no clances will be taken. practice safe camping! wouldnt want risk anything like losing something you just sunk 700 bucks into..

Quote: So when you camp you get as close to the door as you can?
depends on the store and their policy towards such a situation. when the ps2 was released no one was allowed to "camp" outside Kmart while it was still open for business. so we ended up going home getting all our gear and cameback about a half hour till closing. couple stayed in the car while the others walked around the store and i think we bought gum or some drinks right before it closed. once we walked out we just stood outside next to the door and the others joined us. we were first in line and after about 8 minutes two other people showed up (30 year old sheriff and his partner) and from then on there was a steady amount of people stopping by.
my advice to anyone camping who has never camped before is first read the sticky as i addressed much of this there....2nd would be to use some creative thinking and just call w/e store you want to camp at PRIOR to the systems release. ask them how they handle campers, what they did when the 360 was released, how many systems they expect to have, etc etc....
then there comes to the part of recent discussion, theft. i am not saying someone can't get jumped in the parking lot, but it is a bit unlikely. i say this because most of the stores today, have surveillance equipment in the front of the store overlooking the parking lots. not to mention there is going to be a decent amount of folks around. i personally think the prime moment for someone to get their stuff jack'd would be on the car ride home, away from potential witnesses. it actually recently happened to an elderly woman who left the casino. two losers who saw she won a creditable amount of money followed her all the way home and robbed her in her driveway. to me that would be the best opportunity for someone to steal your goods. those most at risk IMO would be the elderly, females, teenagers, kids, and immature idiots asking for trouble.
so how might someone avoid such a situation? well it is always better to travel in numbers. so i'd recommend taking some friends along or relatives. now if your 16 i don't mean bring your 6 year old brother along, probably best to get some people who are at least 16 and older, preferably a parent. use some common sense and most will be fine. if your worried about being followed or harassed just check your surroundings when you leave, and take a note as to what kind of cars are at or near the parking lots. if you feel as if your being followed take an alternative route home, continually check on your mystery friend, and worst case scenario drive to the nearest police station. oh bring a cell phone, and don't forget to charge it! thats really about all i can logically think of atm, i don't think packing heat or bringing some weapon along is really going to create a safer environment for you or anyone else.

yes, hade. good info there. i'll be calling them up to ask that around the middle to end of october, so their stock is more than likely known.

So I'm confused. Am I right in saying that it depends on the store's policy whether campers get a PS3 before those with preorders? What's gamestop's usual policy? And do you think I should camp at gamestop or bestbuy?

The logic of getting jacked is very high because you have people in this world that dont care about surveillance cam's or the police....Saying that i will have my blockburner with me.In the U.S. you cant conseal a weapon anyway so they will see it on my side make them think twice before they act.We live in a crazy world where people dont care what they do or what actions they take.
