ahh cool, thx larrylje
i got a pal wii, but i have got a ntsc game to load on it being mario stricker.
but i will use that site as a reference and only download games that are certain to work.

If you have a PAL wii you will want to look under the sections of NTSC(U) TO PAL OR NTSC(J) TO PAL when looking up game titles of different regions to see if they are region compatible.

But after reading all what has been said it seems like it is ok to allow the latest update for my wii as i only use backed up pal games for my pal wii with wiikey.
would you say that, that is correct.

Ok I have a brand new wii bought it two days ago did all the updates, browser and 3.0u or whatever. Now I want a wiikey, will it work to install the setup disk on new 3.0u wii?

hey
can anyone confirm if the wiikey will still load:
- Multi-Game GC games
- Normal backup GC Games
without GcoS?
If I don't get an answer, I will go home and try it myself tonight.
Also, I read that some ppl were having that error where they see a game in the channel screen, but when they click start it just goes to a black screen. I have this problem too w/ Mario Party 8. Is it just a bad ISO or does anyone know?

OK I tested the following tonight after a 3.0u update w/ an official WiiKey on my NTSC Wii
- Wii backups (NTSC) = working fully
- Wii backups (PAL) = working fully including online (strikers, but note that I used the wiikey config disk to enable PAL before the 3.0u update)
- GC Backups single game = working fully
- GC Backups homebrew = working fully (I tested a multi-boot emulator which included SNES, NES, Genesis and Turbografx, all worked flawlessly w/o need to swap anything. I assume this means multi-game backups work too).
- GC Backups multi-game = not yet tested myself, should work though if you look at previous example.
- GC Backups PAL = not yet tested, no reason for me to test
I think that covers it, so in conclusion, no big deal for the 3.0u update, basically does everything other than load that wiikey disk.
My guess? The next update will be the one to watch out for, because it was this update that included a warning message for next time. I will definitely NOT be the one doing these tests for 3.x or 4.0.

OK I will be more specific as the previous posts do not answer this question I have a brand new wii, with chip set d2c , I have also updated to 3.0e. Is there any mod chip that works with this version?

I had my region lock on still with wiikey installed then i updated to 3.0 and now i cant run the boot disc so can't turn off region lock to play ntsc games:(

If you dont have anything positive to say then keep your pathetic, useless comments to yourself. As everyday goes by new hacks are releasd, in fact smart guy there is now a work around for the wii-boss that may be applicable to the cyclowiz, but you didnt have anything positive to add to the subject just your moaning and complaining.

I finally found a Wii.. and if course it have the GC2-D2C chipset.. ARRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and I already my Wiikey ready too.. hic hic..
now i'm stuck..

With an attitude like that you will find it hard to get your questions answered. Show some respect. Both of your post above could have been answered by doing a search. Are you suppose to update the wiid first before going 3.0U. Is there another update yet for the wiid.
I would suggest running the update before updating to 3.0 firmware. I have no idea if the update disc works after updating to 3.0 firmware because I already updated the WiiD. No there is no new update the only update that came out came out a while ago.

First there is no region lock option on a Wiikey, it is Region Override.
Second if the region over Ride is set to ON then you can play all region game disc as long as they are region compatible.
Third if you had read all the previous post in this thread you would know that you can boot the Wiikey set up disc by using a GCoS boot up disc.

Can someone tell me what a Wii is and what I can do with it? ;-)
I am going to update my Wii right now. It looks like there won't be issues. I haven't played and non-ntsc region games so I am not concerned with that just yet. (maybe i should change it just in case)
I will report back my findings.

Please note the ";-)" at the end of my first statement. My sarcasm was lost.
Anyway, I started teh updated. How long did the 2.2 to 3.0 take. It has not moved from the first little blue sliver in teh progress bar. It has been about 15 minutes

Let it update.
It took me close to 45 minutes to update from 2.2U to 3.0U
It shouldn't take that long to download the update but sometimes it does. I would tend to think it is due to a server overload issue or some issue with the server.
