This method works. Tried it myself with a region 1 disc.

From abelp at club.cdfreaks.com:

How to copy blades of glory.
Follow these steps in order to get a succesfull backup.

1. Open anydvd with the latest update.
2. Open Ripit4me Click on wizard mode
3. Create the PSL
4. When DvdDecrypter starts click on the big Cd to harddrive icon.
5. Clean the VOBS
6. Remove the errors with same window open.
7. Then open it with shrink and you'll have it encoded for 4.7 gb disc
Or if you want the full version dont encode with dvd shrink. In case your putting it on the apple tv or something

Ok here is the story...I tried ripping the Blades of Glory DVD region 1 with Ripit4me...the same program I always use. It kept giving me error messages 'cannot create a directory'. I tried using DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, Any DVD, and Nero. None of them could get all the way through the disc without read errors or cycle redundancy messages. I then tried Ripit4me again using the wizard mode instead of 1-click mode...no luck. WTF!!! Then I noticed that the title of the directory it was trying to create had < before the title and > after the title. It looked something like this:

C:\< BLADES_OF_GLORY >\

Of course!!! You can't create a folder with those symbols in the title. I deleted the < and the > and tried it again...success!!!
So, just use Ripit4me on 1-click mode, change the title, and when it opens DVD Shrink compress it like always. Any questions?

For anyone having a hard time copying this movie, its very simple. Sometimes movies like this come along with encryption that anydvd and dvdshrink or clone dvd cant stop. For any movies that cannot be copied from those programs use RIPIT4ME along you must download dvd decrypter and VOB BLANKER.. all these are freeware software which can be download at the main website. One you rip the files to your hardrive with dvd decrypter with ripit4me opened, bring it to vob blanker, once thats completed open with dvd shrink or clone dvd, and encode then burn. There should be no problems at all. Its simple, may take longer then most movies, but in the end its all worth it..

Guessing, guessing, guessing, neither of those above suggestions work. True story: DVD decrypter alone will make a close attempt at decrypting this but the file is out sequence the movie jumps all over the place. This is what I encountered before stumbling upon a last ditch effort to use NERO7 Recode2 "REMAKE A DVD" w/AnyDVD 6.1.7.0 "Movie Only". These references to RipIt4Me as a solution are speculative, Sorry it's a rap for that software, this flick's decryption is it's match.:)

N2DVD can you try deleting the <> before and after the title for destination directory then use ripit4me 1 click mode.
Please post back with results we already have to other people above with sucess. Ripit4me has not met its match just a slight modification needed.

Hey...this:C:\< BLADES_OF_GLORY >\ does not work. Once you remove the foward slashes and arrows this allows RipIt4Me to create a destination. DVD decrypter fails to process the files. You begin to get I/O errors which can be ignored. The finsihed file is totally out of sequence. At this time the main movie is all you can salvage which I also found can be done w/SHRINK in re-author mode with AnyDVD running in the backround.

Know this, the latest version of CloneDVD allows you to uncheck the bad titles similar to what was needed with DEJA-VU and a few other titleS. This again does not work if you continue the back-up process with the remaining menu & previews files attached, these files I found serve to disable the programs transcoding. Now let's be real this disc all but shuts down the latest version of CloneDVD a software that sees regular updates and we're saying RipIt4me works? I'm trying all of these suggestions and none of them work for Full-disc back-up on the US region 1 retail DVD.:)

Has anyone tried using:

I'm not replying in frustration, I'm just saying let's not post peoples suggestive oppions without trying them out 1st. When SAW III showed with a slew of bad sector protections many said they had the answer at 1st, many made suggestions base on past experience and this was on early threads from people who received advance DVD disc. RipIt4Me finally came thru early. Two weeks later when the DVD was released the moderators here where playing topic sniper to many random threads being started by members asking a then two week old question. " How do you back up SAW III"? The same thing here only the actual release date will be sooner.:)

Hat's off to RipIt4Me....I WAS WRONG! everyone.....hat's off to whomever discovered that if you removed just <> from the title that this would make this title ready for back-up? That was some trickey sh*t. I like anyone who has tried this was able to complete a Full Disc back up menu and all using RipIt4Me and I back this title again up to disc using NERO7 Recode2. RipIt4Me the most back-up ready software on the market and free. Solve the this other major title issue without an update, WOW. I can see why it's a threat to tinsle town.:) VIVA, RipIt4Me

So far we have the RI4M and all you have to do is create the directory without <>. The DVDFab HD Decrypter beta does the job. I suspect if AnyDVD doesn't have it they will shortly.

when trying to process "blades of glory" all u need to do is use dvd decrypter and open up original dvd and theres 3 versions of the movie . use the 3rd version cause it dosent have a ton of sectors in the front of dvd and on the back of the movie files. then use dvd shrink go to "re author" then pick the 3rd version of the movie. then click "backup" and it should process the "movie only". this is what i used to "process the dvd" .

I have never run into a dvd that RipIt4Me couldn't backup until I tried Blades Of Glory. I read this entire thread before trying any of the suggestions and then tried the above method. IT WORKED PERFECTLY! It was extremely easy. It copied the full movie with the menu and extras. Just delete the < and the > from the beginning and end of the movie title when you open with Ripit4me and voila. Thank you for figuring this out, Vader. I was getting frustrated! So if any of you have used Ripit4me, continue to use it the same way only make sure to delete the above mentioned symbols and you shouldn't have any problems ripping this movie.

That DVDFAB HD update 3157 worked flawlessly for this disc.

Firstly, I tried ripping it with AnyDVD and it said there isn't enough room. Secondly, I tried VOBB (without AnyDVD) and it reached the end too quickly.

Lastly, after getting the update from here, I was able to successfully rip the entire disc to the HDD with that latest update for DVDfab HD (3157).

It automatically removes the 2 very large bogus titles. Once those are eliminated, the entire disc is a DVD5. No compression!

Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

This is what I encountered before stumbling upon a last ditch effort to use NERO7 Recode2 "REMAKE A DVD" w/AnyDVD 6.1.7.0 "Movie Only".

Until I found this advice nothing worked for me. The above method worked perfectly.

Thanks for the tip.
