the 2 files that everyone is looking for are automaticly put to your ms when you have done with the start exe, there is no need to try download them, i dont understand why no one else has posted this, hope this helps :)

hey i converted my psp slim' factory battery to a pandora using one of the many tutorials that are out there (removing the pin) and i tested it by putting it into my psp without a mem stick and the power light comes on and the screen is blank. I forgot to make the magic memory stick before i made my factory battery into the pandora so i made the magic memory stick with the ac adapter plugged in. I followed all the steps on how to make the magic memory card at least 5 times and each time i put the pandora battery back on nothing happends. the memory stick light dosent flash and neither does the wifi. I pushed x anyway and waited a while but nothing happends. Any suggestions?? i also made a little scratch on the batterys pcb by accident and some coppper is exposed, i donno if this would mess it up? I also bought my memory stick off ebay and soon realised its a fake sony mspd 4gb not sure if that would make a diff eaither.. thankss.. another thing i forgot to add, my psp will still boot up to the original firmware (3.71) as long as i have the battery removed and the ac plugged in

@howlett1
You problem may be the fake memory stick - pick up a Sandisk or Sony genuine one instead.
Try this guide too - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610313

@Domino777

are the kd and registry files or folders? cause when i use the pandora menu installer it extracts folders. i heard from someone that i should find files with names kd & registry and i can probably get them from (recovery menu > USB Connection) and then getting them on the computer but my psp can't open the recovery menu so that i can get them. can someone post these files here please? thank you.

They're folders, not files.

then y does everyone keep saying they're files :)

I've got one more question. Is it necessary for the MS to be formatted with a PSP or can it be formatted with a PC under windows?

P.S. thanks for the quick reply

Well... they're not, "kd" is part of your PSP's flash0; consisting overall of six folders, kd is one of them. The "registry" folder only contains two different system files, i don't really know what they're for...

EDIT: Yes, you can format it first with your PC as well, though either way it needs to be logically formatted afterwards.

thanks for the info. i suppose the registy folder contains files related to the psp just like the files in the system32\config folder are to the computer.

still, can someone tell me if it is necessary to have a second psp to do all this, cause i used an M2 card with my sony ericsson mobile as a card reader to create the magic MS and i formatted it under windows. So then I used a Memory Stick Pro Duo Adapter to put the card in the PSP. But the WiFi and MS LEDs did not flicker for a second they remained lighted. And if i press X nothing happens.

My problem is that the PSP turns on and after ten-twenty seconds it turns back off no matter the boot method (i mean whether it is pandora or not). The only difference is when i use pandora it turns on automatically and the MS & WiFi are lighted.

Thanks in advance for any help.

P.S. and all this happened when i updated to 3.80 m33 from 3.71 m33. it stopped at 99% and failed.

No, you don't need a second PSP, follow this guide; http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610313

I followed the instructions with the new PSP slim that comes with the Daxter pack. It appears to have worked. When I go into system information it shows the new hacked firmware..

So what now? How do I play ISOs?

i'm afraid that one also requires a second PSP see:
Quote:
Disable the USB and Format your Memory Stick via System Settings. Then enable the USB again. Then press any key to continue.
moreover it requires the psp to be working. that means it can only downgrade/upgrade software. and i need to unbrick :(

I think I got it. I was just overwhelmed with all the different information regarding devhook and the 1.5 kernel.. etc etc. It was as easy as making an ISO folder and dropping the ISO in there.

Thanks.

By making an ISO directory off the root of the mem stick and dropping ISOs in there, they just run.

I guess the "14749_TOTALNewbieasyInstallerPandorasmenu.rar" installed whatever else I needed to run ISOs.

I will have to do some more reading and find out exactly what the total newb installer did behind the scenes. But so far so good.

I am wondering what the difference is between the battery mod outlined in these steps and the diagram found here.

In that case just use a card reader or another device that reads Pro Dou MS's, and use the basic format utility in windows.

doesn't work with m2 w/ Pro Duo adapter. i found a guy who will lend me his psp. i'll try that way and i'll post to tell you if it is the m2 (that's not a pro duo stick) or the format utility that matters.

.. but i remmember my psp reading the m2 with adapter when it was working so... this shouldn't be the problem.

i just hope it works at all and my psp isn't thoroughly bricked, which case is about 1% likely to be as first i can start the psp and second my current eerom firmware is incomplete.
