Everything worked fine on my end. After Shrink gave me an ERROR, I first thought it was a bad disk or dirty disk so I cleaned it and it still gave me the same error so I just right click on the AnyDVD icon on my task bar and clicked on Rip Video DVD to Hard Disk. After ripping it to my HD, DVD Shrink had no problems making a copy of Bourne Ultimatum with the use of NERO. It seems to work just fine. I would say to everyone to just check what version of AnyDVD you have and make sure it is the latest version. AnyDVD works real well with Shrink.
HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!

here is another success story, of different sorts..

Ok, Dvd Decrypter managed to get thru a session on Movie Mode only. In total it came up with 6 VOB files. These are the steps I had to take to get it to burn:
First, while in Decrypter I skipped the stage where it asked me to remove protected cells and a couple of other options because I had tried it previously with those options selected and it came up with some error and stopped the whole process.
Second, I opened up Shrink thinking it could just open the files and burn them. When I tried, it came up with a Cannot find path error, even thou I was showing it where to look, whatever.
Third, I opened it with Nero (I use Nero 7 ultra) and it found the VOB files fine. Then I selected the first file and it asks if you want to perform a merging (I think) of the VOB files. If you select the first one only, it doesnt work. I then went back and highlighted all the VOB files and it asks the same thing. I said Yes. It will take a while, but it gets it done.
Then, the rest is just cosmetics, I choose to create a menu within Nero, but that doesn't matter. The main thing is that I got the movie files and I got them to burn too.
I posted this to try and help some other poor person who might be going thru the same stuff I did.
good luck and thank to everyone who helped me .

A guy on AnyDVD's forum had to take the DVD back 4 times until he found one that was not a bad press. AnyDVD nor DVDFAB HD Decrypter can not read through mastering errors on a DVD.

You can try DVD Decrypter and tell it to ignore the errors and see if it will rip a copy to the HD or you can keep returning it until you find a good one.

do you know by looking at the list which program will have trouble and the ones that will not?
shrink can do x,y,z but not b and c.
get my drift. i like to start understanding which ones cause problems.

I totally agree with you that any ripper/decrypter can get through it. My original trials on DVD Decypter showed me that as well. I tried DVDFab, Decrypter, Shrink and even ripit4me (decrypter/Shrink combo) and none worked. I cannot tell you why, except that I had Dirty disc errors on both decrpyters. Maybe there were sector errors, bad pressed DVD or something else.
I do know that DVD Decrypter ripped me a Movie only version, which I am more than happy to get.
thanks again for all your advice

born2ride,
If you look at the AnyDVD status Window and it looks like that then any ripper or compression program that rips the DVD should be able to do it UNLESS it is a bad mastering press or has bubbles or scratches.

If you look at the DVD-HD Dec Status Window this part is interesting:

Structure protection (ARccOS, RipGuard, etc.) is removed!
Now I understand this is a generic statement but I ripped both DVD's w/ RipIt4Me and had no problems but I do understand DVDD adds the blank areas where needed to make the structure correct and if I am not mistaken that is done for ARccOS. I normally start a rip using RipIt4Me and if that fails then I go to AnyDVD to check the Status Window. If the Window shows the above message then I'll take the DVD back for exchange and then try again. I must though be in a good area as I have only had to take back 1 DVD in 6 years.

so that is just the basic stuff they use.
from that point on it can build to problem. moving to a different or strong copyprotection that might be on these newer dvd..

it might sound strange asking all this but most of you guy have been burn for years it seems. i am just coming into this stuff in the past year not having anydvd to show what is on it i feel i was missing some info
. now that dvdfab does it i can see what on them...its a blessing....

so i am try to figure out what type of cp gives the most problems for people..

How is AnyDVD a free program?? I tried to get it, but all I could get my hands on was the evaluation version, which expired after 21 days.

must've misread one of the previous posts. Was able to get a movie-only rip of Bourne Ultimatum with DVDShrink... trying to copy the entire DVD only gave me the "blue screen of death" part-way through the encoding process (same with DVD Decrypter)

doing the movie only solves alot of problems .being the extras are where the heavy protection is. BTW you might consider getting anydvd in the next week or two theres a coupon code till the first of the year then the price will increase sufficiently!!!

Just a note on what ZOSO said, get AnyDVD before Jan 1 you won't be sorry. AnyDVD handled the Bourne full DL back up with Imgburn with no problems.

DVDShrink, DVDFab, and DVDDecryter repeatedly gave me a read error at 49% to 50%. Using a different burner did the trick.

abra2,
Had you updated the firmware on the burner in question?

Questions;
1. Does any of this have to do with the fact this DVD has PC software on the disc (Interactual Player)??
2. Anyone else (other than me) have only 2 empty audio files listed using CloneCVD2?

hey, the way i burned bourne ultimatum was with anydvd 6.3.0.0 and nero. i opened up the unreferenced material and disabled the first file. if you sample the view, you should see a little boy in green shorts jumping up & down, it's a strange form of copy protection. this clip repeats itself for hours, so it confuses the burn process, resulting in an error.
so, by disabling that file, you should be able to burn it with no problem. every bourne movie has this protection, & i did this method with all three & it worked every time. just another method. hope this helps somebody.

2nd copy of the movie and two different burners and a player in two different computers couldn't read the disc let alone copy it.

Funny, I just got done copying the Bourne Identity with no issue.

What crap are these studios trying to pull?? What a joke.
