VideoBruce,
Have you tried using DVDFAB PLATINUM 4.0.2.0 BETA version, yet?
If not, download here.
http://club.cdfreaks.com/f116/dvdfab-4-0-2-0-beta-233944/
Next, open DVDFAB PLATINUM, select main movie mode. Load your movie. A purple progress bar will appear. This may run several times if the decryption is a problem. Pathplayer will then start, hopefully break the encryption, the movie will then load in the program window.
This was the method I used to backup this title. Good luck!

Make sure your burner firmware is updated.
Use Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media.

I've been doing more and more on the fly burns also, mainly copying a copy with NeroExpress. Not having any issues either. Using X8 speed.

Other software works I'm sure, but I like freeware.

I tried shrink first.. no-go, I tried dvd decrypter in file mode then shrink...no-go, I tried decrypter in iso mode... no-go, tried shrink opening image of decrypter iso file... no-go THEN!!!!!!!!!

here is what I did with success:

1. with dvd-rw (cuz ruined 2 dvd-rs) use dvd decrypter in file mode) rip.

2. Use dvd shrink open files button, point to decrypter ripped ultimatum folder. After analizing/preview, highlight "unreferenced material" folder(on left), change this folder from automatic to still images on right side of shrink.

3. encode and backup with shrink. takes alittle longer than normal...still images or running man over universal logo thing??? dunno. successful!

4. burn to dvd-r with nero6 @ 2x (25 minutes or so)

I guess key is to change "unreferenced material" folder to still images and a 2x burn.
Hope this helps

I was directed to this thread and I just noticed this is the 3rd movie in the series, NOT the "Supremacy" as I have that I'm tying to copy.
Anyway, I received the 3rd copy and it burned fine with NO issues using AnyDVD/CloneDVD2. I also tried it with DVDFab with no issues.

I never encountered anything as this with the 80+ DVDs' I burned.

Hi all long time reader, first time poster!

I purchased the movie in R4 yesterday (excited as it was not due out here until December 31), after doing some research on backing it up, i thought i'd have the same amount of trouble as many of you are/were having.

I managed to do a successful backup by ripping the contents to DVDFab Platinum 4 (4.3.2.0) And burnt using DVDShrink.

I thought the R4 version would be manufactured in the same way as the R1 version. As with the case of Transformers, i noticed a lot of people had issues with backing that movie up successfully... and the R4 version had the same issues, so i used the same solution that many people came to on here and it worked.

had the same problems trying to copy the bourne ultimatum. firstly i tried CloneDVD2. CloneDVD2 would only read 41% of the disc and go no further. then tried DVD Shrink and it wouldn't read the disc. finally i tried DVD Decrypter and it copied the disc to my hard drive with no errors and i burnt it using CloneDVD2. no idea why it didn't work with the other 2 programs??? i always have AnyDVD 6.1.7.4 running.

hey, the way i burned bourne ultimatum was with anydvd 6.3.0.0 and nero. i opened up the unreferenced material and disabled the first file. if you sample the view, you should see a little boy in green shorts jumping up & down, it's a strange form of copy protection. this clip repeats itself for hours, so it confuses the burn process, resulting in an error.
so, by disabling that file, you should be able to burn it with no problem. every bourne movie has this protection, & i did this method with all three & it worked every time. just another method. hope this helps somebody.
I couldn't figure out how you disabled a particular file in DVD Shrink. For those that want to keep the menu structure intact and not just re-author the main movie, I used FixVTS 1.603 on the VIDEO_TS.VOB file to eliminate the little boy in green shorts jumping up & down altogether. DVD Shrink encoding worked fine after that.

@ orion 250

I attended your "Crew of Orion" Mardi Gras parade tonight. A quick one with lots of beads on a moisture ladened blustery 52deg night. A bit chilly for catching cheap plastic mementos. With enough antifreeze everyone endured. LOL

The big question in New Orleans for next Sunday night is: Are you going to Bacchus parade or watch the Superbowl?!

with dvd shrink, you disable it by changing the ratio to still image. i just found an easier way tho. you can rip it to your hd with anydvd, then burn it with dvd shrink or nero. just right click on the anydvd icon in quicklaunch, then pick rip to hard disk. when its done, it'll say done. then useshrink or nero & erase the folder.

forgot to mention. this method has worked with rush hour 3, 3:10 to yuma, & shoot em up. so for this has worked for every new release. cause it seems that every new release has beefed up copy protection. try the anydvd rip method & please post if it works or not.

I have no idea what the "Crew of Orion" Mardi Gras parade is. I will watch the Super Bowl and be within 10 miles of it on Sunday!

"Crew of Orion" refers to the people that make up the social club that meet during the year (heavy drinking) and plan and create a parade for the Mardi Gras season- (Fat Tuesday). Ergo the Orion Parade! Now you know. They're all sorts of parades during MG. The biggie here Saturday, is Spanish Town Parade.
