I brought my computer in to have someone look at it. He checked everything and replaced the fan on my motherboard. And now everything works. I don't know if the fan was the problem or he took stuff off the hard drive, all I know is it works now :)

I just wanted to say thanks again to everyone that helped me out.

thats what i thought it was an internal heating problem, glad its fixed

remember laptops just aren't great for backing up DVDs because of the load encoding causes on the cpu, mobo , PS etc. just be carefull and not let it overheat
