I saw in other threads, people have freezing problems while analyzing but my computer freezes up while it is encoding?
And its happening with all the movies I try.
I can pull the main movie out but I can't copy the entire disc.
Does anyone have any suggestions what the problem might be and/or how to fix it.
Thank you.

Yes I disc clean up after every movie I do and defrag once a week.
I tried dvdfab also but it still froze.
How much RAM should you have to run these types of programs? Althought I never had trouble before just the past 2 weeks.
I don't have ANYDVD. I used up my 21 day trial a few months ago.

DVDfab and Nero Recode worked for one movie but didn't for the other. Its being picky..lol.
I cleaned the disc, and there are small little scratches but nothing major.
I don't know why it only worked for one movie.

probably the only thing you can do is exchange the DVD that won't transcode
other options are use dvd decrypter in "brute force" mode ignoring read errors or use the anydvd ripper or use it with a program called Intervideo DVD Copy6. but since your trial period is up you would have to buy it

Ok I'm still having the same problem but with different movies. For the other movies I used my sisters laptop and DVDfab and Shrink worked fine.
It seems something is stopping it and I can't figure out what.It always freezing while encoding.
You said use Brute force in DVD decrypter, how do you do that?
Intervideo DVD Copy6-is there a free version to try out and where to find it?
Thanks for all the help.I just don't get what's happening, it worked fine 2 weeks ago.

DVD shrink does not come with option to burn w/ Imgburn, you would need to add it but thats another project. At step 31 just drop that menu bar down and to "ISO image file" only. If you could just do that, then you just have to open Imgburn, select the ISO you just made and write a DVD
Whether you think you can or you think you cant - either way youre right

Jen72-
Because your computer keeps freezing on you, there may be problems with your system.
As far as ImgBurn is concerned everyone always say's that you have to make an ISO image before burning. However, ImgBurn has a build feature in it. The newest version of ImgBurn you will see the selection in the main menu when you open it. It says create from file, or something like that. I never create an ISO before burning a movie, and I have 1500 backups!
How much free HDD space do you have when you go to burn? Are you running other applications at the same time? In many cases you may need to use VobBlanker to clean up the files before burning. It is a free program which you may download here: Link
Note: Programs use temporary storage while they are transcoding or burning. If you do not have enough HDD space this could cause problems.
A simple thing to do is to open and then process, however, you may find that removing blank cells, FBI Warnings, Previews, and other unwanted material will increase the ratio that your movie will be compressed to. Here is a guide that is old that my buddy alkohol wrote. It is a great guide for people that are into transcoding and not encoding. Alkohol's guide Link

I have enough hard drive space, I've been doing movies for awile now and this has never happened before.
syxguns I will give the guide you posted a shot. But I have used all the tools in the guide and it still freezes.I can get the movie on the hard drive with DVDfab Decrypter but it goes downhill after that..lol.
I recently upgraded to high speed and my provider gave me their firewall,anti-virus etc..could that be the problem, since I put that in I've had the trouble, and their tech support was no help.
The other thing I was thinking was system restore, to back when it worked.
Thank you to everyone who has tried to help, this is so frustrating.

Your firewall and AV should not interfere with your internal system. Just to be sure that your system is clean run Spybot Search and Destroy to remove any unwanted material. A system restore may work, but only if you had it set to when it was working properly.
Spybot Link
I would also run CCleaner to insure that your registry is clean. CCleaner Link
Maybe a quick clean of the system will get you in working order again. Keep us up to date.

do you have temp control program on your laptop? If you do not have a cooling pad, it could be that your processor or memory is getting hot. Download Speedfan from here: http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php
See what your temps are. Overheating machines and memory gone bad may cause errors when running source hungary programs. You really need to see if you can get Spybot downloaded. Did CCleaner clean a lot of items out of your registry?

To be honest with you having luck is nice but in many instances it is knowledge that helps you get through the situations. That knowledge does not have to be yours, that's what we are here for! Let me know what speedfan gives you as your temps.

No, it does not. When I used to use DVD Shrink I still never backed up my files as image files. I always leave everything in a VIDEO_TS folder in case there is an error or adjustment that I might need to make to the file. I would use Shrink to reduce the file size on an external HDD. Then I would use the build feature in ImgBurn to build and burn the files.
Now I do not transcode movies. I use a combination of programs to get things done. I use DVDReMake Pro to remove material and change menu's if need be. I also strip audio, cut scenes, etc. Then I use DVD Rebuilder. After I rebuild the movie using an encoding process with Cinema Craft Encoder, I burn the files with ImgBurn using the build method.
Basically everyone does things a little different and I happen to be comfortable with the way I do things. There was a time when I didn't do things the way that I do now, but time changes things to ensure better quality.

Jen , yes you may have internal problems with your laptop, memory,CPU,power supply etc.
or
it could be a spyware/virus problem, post a hjt log and maybe we can figure it out
