Ok if the gameshark can see your usb drive, were you able to copy the IsCentral.ps2 file over to your mc.
What exactly isn't working for you? What happens.
This stuff for PS2 isn't really hard, it just requires you to do your homework first so to speak. Read up on everything.
cee43ja1 is also correct, a ps2 hdd is also another option along with the Ar max. I have a Maxtor 300GB also and have 68 games on it and still lots of room left.

yes, the maxtor 300gig is what i use also. 30 games take up 100gigs, leaving me with 190gigs left. lots of room for more games, and emulators, and such.
if you plan to solely use the hdd for ps2 games, then stick with a size that's reasonable. the maxtor 300gig is overkill for me, but being on sale, i couldn't pass it up.

Ok here is what you do then.
Open your PS2 browser and delete your system configuration file.
I have made a new exploit for you again and renamed it already to Exploit1.ps2

The second link has the elfs auto start which I forgot, sorry.
You just have to extract it first, then copy the Exploit.ps2 to your usb drive, then copy it with your gameshark to the mc.
Try it one more time following the steps I gave you before above.

Ok if you downloaded the first link I had forgot to to set the auto self start.
So then you would have to click Filebrowser in Ulaunch, and go to
MC0, then BADATA-SYSTEM.
The cdloader.elf and cogswap.elf are there.
You can just load them from there or
To make them work by hitting a specific button. Do this.
a)if you have uLaunchelf 4.12 you will see a screen and your only option is
Filebrowser
"Select:Configure"
* In this case: hit circle on "select:configure"
* look for the entry "default" and hit circle on it
* then browse to
mc0:\BxDATA-SYSTEM\cogswap.elf
* You will be taken back to the screen with the "default" entry, displaying:
Default=mc0:\BxDATA-SYSTEM\cdloader.elf
* on the bottom of this very page select OK
* you get back to very first screen, which now displays default:cdloader.elf
* hit circle on "default" and voilà, your elf is launched
If you used the second link you just have to hit the circle or Triangle key on your PS2 to start either one.

I use imgburn, and burn on DVD-R at about 4x speed.
A guide is here.
It is the second part of the tutorial.
How to use Cogswap:
1. Eject disc tray normally and put in an "big"/"high TOC" official PS2 game (like GTA)
2. The screen will say PS2 DVD
2. Press "X" on the controller
3. The screen will say "Use Cogswap"
4. Manually eject the disc tray (by slide tool or fliptop method)
5. Replace the official PS2 game with your backup DVDR
6. Push the disc tray back in and pull white cog to the left to close (or close fliptop if that's the method you're using)
7. Press "X" on the controller
8. Your backup game will load as normal!

In short, that just makes for a better burn. It will consistently burn the whole disk at 4x and you should have no problems with the disk.
There are mixed results yet on using 16X media, and some burn it at 8x with no problems and others have problems.
I still just use 4X to be sure.
So you can burn faster if you want.And make sure to use good quality media. I use Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, or Sony

You can just use the Cogswap or Cdloader to play your backups without cheats.
To use Gameshark with cheats.
You would have to download the cdloader cd and burn it to CD-R
DVD BACKUPS:
1. Boot Gameshark 2 V1/2
2. Select the cheats you want
3. Go to start game/With cheats
4. Swap the Gameshark 2 V1/2 with the cdloader using EA method and press x
5. When the cdloader loads press eject and swap the cdloader with a high toc original such GTA and press eject to close it.
6. Wait about 7 seconds and press x
7. when the screen says swap "dvdr by ea method" swap the toc original with your dvd-r backup using EA method and press x
8. Your backup will now load with cheats
Another Gameshark method. I have no idea if it works or not.
? Insert AR2/GS2
? Power down console, wait 5 sec, and restart console by pressing and holding reset. (Dont let go)
? After GS2 completely loads, swap with original dvd game.(high TOC)
? Wait about 15 sec and select Gameshark codes (or ar2 codes) and turn on or off any code on any game.
? Press start, select with codes and press x to load game.
? You will see a black screen saying "updating codes please wait" at this time release the reset button, tray will eject, swap with backup, tray closes and game loads.

Yes and let it come out, then exchange (swap ) the disc for the CDloader disc.
Then once cdloader comes up, you will need to put in a High TOC original game, then when the Swap discs by EA method comes up you will need to use your slide tool, fliptop to swap disc for your backup.

Ok now you are confusing me lol.
If you just want to play backups, then just load cogswap from your memory card.
Once loaded follow this:
How to use Cogswap:

Now if you want to use cheats from your Gameshark its totally different.
You need to first start your Gameshark and use one of the 2 methods I posted.
I have never used Gameshark, I have only used Ar Max or Codebreaker, so I don't even know the options or what the menu looks like.
All I know is there are times you actually press Triangle to Eject or Just press Eject on PS2, and when it says Boot by EA Method, you are to use your Slide Tool or Fliptop.
Sorry I am not very helpful on that. As far as I know the methods to use Gameshark with Cheats to play backups doesn't work unless you have a modchip, thats why I said you could try them but don't be too hopeful.
Another alternative though is you could go to gamefaqs and just download game saves with cheats in them and just transfer them to your mc using the Ulaunch 4.12 and then load them in your game.

Codebreaker, armax, gameshark. they all have similar function.
So I choose the cheat code and I start the game. the tray will come out and I put cdloader in there, but it shows reading disc error.

Yes they all have the same functions but I am saying your gameshark will probably not play a backup.
These old tutorials I have found for gameshark will probably only work on a modded ps2.
So if you burned the cdloader to CD-R and it didn't work, then thats it.
You will have to try something else to be able to load cheats.
See for me if I want cheats I can use either Ar Max that works with Swap Magic for backup discs, or I use codebreaker 10 patched for hdd on my mc with my PS2 hdd.

First load gameshark then after selecting cheats
please insert game disc you put in swap magic
then when swap magic starts swap it with game disc done.

Hey there. recently I copied god of war 2. people say it's made of dvd9 and dual layer. but the game it's like 3.9G only. So I copied it. and I burned at speed of 4X on to a normal dvd-R disc. I booted it with cogswap. the menu shows up, the intro shows up but the game will not load. do you know why? is there anything to do with the dvd9 thing?
