Reservation Road region 1 now rippable with AnyDVD

I used DVDFab Decrypter to rip the WHOLE DVD to my HD and then used DVD shrink to burn the movie Reservation Road. It worked fine and I got the whole DVD. People are going to great lengths to copy this movie, but it's rather simple to do. I dont think people take the time to explore these threads and get answers before they try anything, instead they do everything short of taking the mother-board out to see what makes it tick.
I still think it's strange that a select few can get AnyDVD to copy this without a hitch. the latest version wouldn't do it for me or alot of my friends.

I tried anydvd and clone, on 3 different computers, and all 3 said "trying to repair dvd structure" and wouldn't work. I guess soon they will release a new update. I have the 6.4.0.4 version on all 3 computers.

Well for me 6.4.0.7 and the beta of Clonedvd -2.9.0.16 did not work on FULL movie.
I prefer movie, menus and deleted scenes.
dialysis1 is right in that this is a messy one - much worse imho then any of the Saw movies.
Even though Shrink saw the full movie after ripping w/ DVDFab and running thru FixVTS - I didn't like the compression - too much and I try avoid using the still pic bit if I can.
I didn't attempt burning a dual layer on this cause how messy it was - didn't want to waste one just in case.
So then I also used vobbblanker to blank all the useless stuff and try clean it up a bit more. Now Clone could see and I had around 75% compression.

Looking at the disc using My Computer, it says that this disc is 401gb. WOW!
99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

If I'm not mistaken, 6407 is a beta still, when there is a full update we get notices on our pc's from slysoft, I haven't gotten any yet, I am always a little leary about anything beta, it's just my opinion, I did do a beta twice before in the past, once with success and once with a problem it caused, I will wait for several more days if no update I will try the beta.
Even with the beta as Zo says he has used, did you still get all the full movie titles like almost 20 of them, and if you still did which ones did you eliminate and which ones did you keep, and no I do not want any special features except for subtitles Zo knows my kids are deaf so ST are important to us, but keeping or eliminating ST is no biggie anyway its all the other special features that take up all the space anyway.
I know a lot of you guys have used all the others like fab, pgcedit, shrink, fixvts, all that is to complicated for me thats why I love my clone and anydvd, hope either the update comes quick or the beta works fine, regardless, Zo how did clone work out with the beta, a little more details please if it did work.

I was a bit shocked at the '400 gig size', I tried and failed with AnyDVD, DVDFab 4.0.25, and Ripit4Me, couldn't even get it to my HD.
I was able to get this one done with DVDFab 4.1.20 ripped to my HD, and then compressed the movie with DVD Shrink all without AnyDVD(Nero Recode wouldn't work) It's what I usually use.
Edit, I did the movie in Full Disc mode.

did this movie with anydvd 6.4.0.7 and clone dvd 5.9.1.5... select main movie and uncheck preserve menue's...

I didn't want this movie, but I love a challenge. Purchased "Reservation Road" this morning - I have/had read this entire thread about 6 times and tried all of the above and one step I won't even attempt to describe - that one got me the movie only. I finally thought ?? one more once - and used DVD FAB HD Decrypter, ran that file through fixVTS - and it took a long time for that step then DVD Shrink for the FixVTS Backup folder and success - Menu and full movie perfectly done, with special features and even an episode of Friday Night Lights - I have been watching different parts of the movie and special features and this is the way to do this disk.
Attention Everybody - the following is meant to be a joke.
Anybody want to buy a used perfectly good original contact me in the usual manner. Will sell cheap!

Zo, ok, but my question is, there are 83 main movie titles, all at 142:01 play time, now which one of those do you eliminate, I do presume to eliminate 82 of them, so which of the one did you keep, or did you do a background config like mesa101 did, and was that config with anydvd or clone?

I was able to rip and burn the entire disk using the latest version of dvdfab platinum with no problem at all.

You could just rip and burn. I do things differently. I like to make backups as clean as possible. I see no reason to burn 141 useless files. It won't harm anything leaving them but I like to know that my backup is the best I could do. Of course doing movie only is good to. The only good one is VTS 54.

Whenever I put a movie DVD in the drive to backup, first thing I do is check the disc size. Reservation Road was 40 something (GB? MB?), an impossible number - so my standard operating procedure is to use DVDFAB Platinum, Main Title only. This selected VTS 64 (or was it 54?) which fit on a DVD-5 at 95% compression. I'm not interested in futzing around with the whole disc, obviously everything is screwed up. The main title only backup played fine and looked great upscaled to 1080p on a 47" LCD TV.

Is it possible to upscale a DVD5 disc to 1080p or did you mean 1080i? If you could then, there would be no need for BR discs.

I meant 1080p - the PS3 I have hooked up to the TV upscales standard def DVDs to 1080p and feeds it to the TV, which has a native resolution of 1080p. Thus the TV doesn't do any upscaling with it's FW. The PS3 does a great job of upscaling with the latest FW, especially with the new "mosquito" filter that removes the occasion noise at the top and bottom of screen for some DVDs.

Well anydvd has just sent me an update, 6411, was excited to try it out with the problamtic R.R., the only problem after I did the update it rendered my clone useless, now clone will not work with any movie, I get a Clone has encountered a problem and has to close from microsoft, so all you can do is send the report or not or click on debug which does nothing anyway, anybody else incountered this same problem. And this update was not a beta, this was the real deal.

You're saying that you're upscaling a Regular DVD disc to 1080p high definition picture equal to a blue ray true 1080p definition with a PS3? How can this be possible? So all I need buy is a PS3 and to play my standard DVDs on to get a High Def picture on a 720p or 1080p HD TV? So why would anyone ever buy a BR disc? I am confused now.LOL

Update, it took me a while to set things right, anyway, first I don't know if this update problem I had with anydvd will cause anybody else to have it, I hope not anyway, but I did several burns, shut down the pc, came back about a half hour later turned it on and had a notice for an anydvd update, great, updated it, and this one did require a re-start and the rest you guys already know what happined.
Here is more intersting news, first of course you try the process of elimination, I removed anydvd, clicked on clone and same message, re-installed anydvd same thing, than tried to unistall clone, but it was no where to be found, usually you can unistall clone or anydvd from start, click all programs, anydvd was there, my clonecd was there, but clonedvd was gone.
So I tried the control panel and add or remove of course, clonedvd was not there either, I by no means am tech savvy but this was weird, after a long thought I did remember right clicking on my clone icon and than click on properties you will find the uninstall there thank goodness, did the uninstall that way and prayed a little after I did the re-install, it worked, no more error message from microsoft, and all those extra movie titles were gone, now there was only one for the main movie and of course the extra's which I get rid of anyway.
Everything was working fine till I tried to switch from maximum burn to 8x, after switching to 8x I could not click on go, it just would not highlight, I tried it several times by restarting and still no go, so I just let it burn on max which I don't like to do but it came out fine anyway.
Normally with clone when you set it on 8x or whichever it will stay there, I tried another movie and did not get the same problem, I was able to set the 8x but it would not stay as default, after trying it several more times it did finally take and stayed.
I know all this might be irrelavent to most and hope it is, but just in case anybody runs into this problem its what I did to finally solve it, wheff, done finally, and as a final note, yeah something happined, was it because of the new update or not I don't know, what I do know is that slysoft did finally kick this problamatic movie in the ass, so Universal Studios, EAT S#%T.

However, I did notice as I was previewing the movie, that several minutes into it the movie (just before the accident happened) actually returned to the opening credits and started all over again. I edited this "extra" part out, removed the end credits and ended up with 100% for the movie. Others may want to check this out before burning to HD or disc.
