Hi Guys,
I just bought a flip top and swap magic for my PS2 V7.
I'm afraid I can't get it to work. I've tried writing and burning using Decrypter everything seems to work using ISO read/write. But I can't load up games. keep getting Red border. I am using DVD+r and DVD+rw. I thought this might be the problem but I can play DVD+r and DVD+rw backup movies....so presume games should be the same?
I used a SONY DVD+RW and a Cheap DVD+R. Is my Medai the problem?
....please help??

Thanks Sobhy I'll try it this evening. Would you be confident that if my machine plays DVD+r an+rw movies it means it should be able to play +r backups. Seems to be a lot of people out there only think -r work.

Since your PS2 is a V7 it should read DVD+R media..i use DVD+R and i burn with Nero 6 Or Alcohol 120%..but Nero seems to work better for me..try using Nero and burn your games at 1X, mine doesnt go that low so i have to use 2X. Yeah first try a more expesive type of media

Hi Guys,
Well all is going well. Have backed up Fight Night 2004,proevo 3 and Tiger Woods 2004 on Memorex Dvd +r.It does seem to make a difference at what speed you burn on. I found some worked better at 1x and others at 2x.
One question for Sobhy though.....The PS2 seems to have to work harder when playing back ups. It makes more noise. Not grinding or anything like that...but i think the lazer moves around more.....perhaps this would ease off if I use Ritek disks. I'll place an order for them today.
Thanks and happy burning!

Hi there,
I have just bought and installed a flip top case on my PS2. I only have a dvd + writer which has min burning speed of 2.4x, I am using quality +R media (traxdata - with the ritek dye) I have backed up a few games using DVD Decrypter.
I had problems installing the case, the hardest part for me was making sure that the eject\reset ribbon cable didn't get pinched by the plastic posters on the flip top when shutting it. Now that it's all assembled I find that my flip top lid does not open up smoothly, I press the button and have to slightly pull the lid so that it comes up. Although I have tried reseating the case many times I always get that same problem. So I decided to leave it like that for now and see what happens.
Well the results of playing my backed up games are quite interesting and I'm not sure whether it points to the sticky flip lid or not.
First of all, all of my PS2 originals play first and every time. (It could be that I can still load them the original way through the eject tray)
When I play my backups I get erratic results, sometimes they play and sometimes they dont, or I'm left waiting for a blank screen to disappear. Then during gameplay the sound may stop, or graphic freezes for a moment. I never get the red border after loading the Swap magic disc, it's always blue, or now and again I will get a quick flash of green border then straight to blue. This indicates that I have a good backup but there is possibly a problem somewhere.
Can some one give me some advice as to what is going on. I am positive I have the right case for my PS2 version 7, and I think it could be flip lid which I think should pop up with ease.
regards

as long as you can feel the bump to hook inside alright, swapmagic works really well.. i find you have to use special boot quite often though, and you CAN burn 52x speed cds that work perfectly as well :)

I have a questtion, I use swapmagic 3.0 and the dvd version 2.0. I backed up my dead or alive 2 dvd and then try to load it with the dvd loader but it didnt work. then I followed your instructions about using the cd swap magic loader and it did work. why is it that the dvd version doesnt load it? By the way can anyone confirm that a back up of dragonball z budokai works with the dvd loader?

Please note that Swap Magic infact does not boot PSX backups, despite that the thread starter's "guide" says so. If you want to boot PSX backups you need a PSX swap disc, like Breaker Pro.

I bought a swap magic and slide card kit from http://www.slidecardkit.co.uk and I have a PAL / Euroean type console. This kit boots dvd-rw's as well as dvd-r and cdr's.Must be the console I am using.Maybe different versions of console accept different media. The kit I bought being in the UK is supposed to work on all consoles from v1 - v10.Swap Magic v3.0 seems to be better than the NTSC Swap Magic sets in the States.Go to http://www.swapmagic.me.uk and get the full kit which even includes the pozidriv tool for the minor adjustment to the ejector tray, before booting backups can take place.

Hi Guys,
I originally tried swapmagic with a version 7 ps2. My backups worked for some games and not so good for others. I decided to give HDLoader a go. Now I can put my backups that don't work so well on hard disk and they run perfectly with quick load times. I am no expert in this are but HDloader has saved me a fortune. I haven't forked out a lot of cash for a game in a long long time and get to play the latest titles at the press of a button......

if that was possible do you really think we would all be wasting our time modding our systems? you have to have some sort of mod to play your backups.

so a v7 works with swap magic?.....i thought u couldnt do the switch disk methods with a v7! cause the v7 bios has a "double-check" thing so it would check again before it loads

Am I right in saying that swap magic and the slide disk can be used to play imports as well? For example I want to be able to play an NTSC Metal Gear Solid 3 on my PAL console would it be possible to get the full retail version of the game (not a backup) then use the swap magic and slide card to make it load.
Can someone please explain, thanks
