Because your temp. path for decrypter is wrong. Change your path to you C drive instead of your D. Do you have another harddrive or a recovery drive?

i went into decrypter, under tools and settings and changed the "default destination" from "automatic" to "custom" and then specified my C; drive. Do you think this is right?

well it got one burned with decrypter! Shrink didn't launch decrypter (i did have the box checked) but I opened decrypter separately and was able to get it to work by choosing the ISO file made by Shrink. (at least this is what I think I did). Thanks so much for all the help. I am just holding my breath until I get another couple under my belt adn then I can say I have this figured out. Thanks

kcole,
For Shrink, you could try re-installing it. And make sure Shrink's temp path is to your C drive.

Better that to your C: ddrive you should have make a folder on your desktop called "ripped movies" or whatever tickles your fancy and direct Shrink to htat folder.

Yes, but it was his recovery drive. His temp path was to his fat32 recovery drive, instead of his ntfs C drive.
Praetor,
What is the way to change from fat32 to ntfs using XP? And do you lose any files?

Ther was a mention of that on a previous thread not to long ago I think scuba pete had a basic quickie guide how to do it and I don't htink you lose any files - normally. Do a search for fat32 you should find it.

The only time Scuba Pete has mentioned(at least to my knowledge) changing fat32 to ntfs was by using partition magic 8. The only time I've seen it by using XP is from Praetor. I would use the search, but it isn't really a big deal for me ... it's just good to know for the next guy. And for everybody who has mentioned how to convert fat32 to ntfs within XP ... I'm sorry (haven't been here long), but again Praetor has mentioned it.
Also your link is about PAL to NTSC

Hi guys, I have been reading your threads for days now trying to figure out how to back up DVD 9 to DVD 5. I have been doin lots of reading and trial and error with no success. I have Nero Ultra 6 the full edition and DVD Decryptor, and DVD Shrink. DVD Shrink kept giving me an error even after I Decrypted the disk that it failed to write the vts_01_.VOB file. I am trying to back up Return of the King for over a week now but I think I'm missing something. I keep seeing people saying that Nero Recode 2 does not burn but it has a burn button? I've Decrypted the disk in file mode to my hard drive and then import it into Recode and burn it to a DVD-RW and I get something on the disk but my DVD player won't play it and my DVD player is supposed to play every format for DVD's. This last time I got an MP4 file and before that I got two folders of which I don't remember the names of. I'm seeing you guys talking about having DVD43 running in the background to burn? But I read the info on that and it looks like it's just for decrypting and it does'nt work with Win 98? Help! What am I doing wrong? Nero Recode has so many different options I don't know which one to pick to get what I want.

Run DVD43, in the background(u install it, it will do the rest). Open recode, click on dvd to dvd. Then click on import dvd. It will analyze,1 to 3 min. Now your page will be laid out with menu, movie, extras. Leave movie and menu alone. If you wish to remove anything in extras, click on each one, what you don't want, disable, it will replace it with a pic. You can preview each one with the slider. You can raise compression on extras to get less on the movie. When done, click next, check burn at once AND advanced analysis. Choose your burner , Click burn, wait til finished. This method is on the fly or you can save it to your HD and burn from there. You also need to go to nero homepage and download update packs 1,2 and 4 if u haven't already.

I just saw where u said dvd43 won't run on win98? Really? How about anydvd or dvd region free? I'm not that familiar with win 98. Yes, go download packs 1,2, and 4. Forget InCD(3).

I'm not familiar with either one of those programs. What exactly do I need another program to do for me? That's what I'm confused about. I've been using Nero just the way you described but by itself with no other programs running. But obviosly it's not working.

All 3 of these programs rip the dvd, enabling u to go directly into recode and not touch another program. They also work well with other programs, ie. I use them wth Pinnacle InstantCopy 8 a lot. Recode is like shrink, except it doesn't rip, thus u need one of these. What it does do is leave u with a working menu and i think has a much better picture than shrink. In shrink if u re-author anything u lose your menu. I think ultra 6 is one of the best packages on the market. It's got programs for everything, file conversion, cover design, PC backup, create your own menu, it's own burning programs and a lot more. There is no need to use shrink and nero recode, they're the same type of program, u can use shrink and nero to burn with burning rom or express.

Ok, I'm looking at Nero's website and I can't figure out what or where the packs I need to download are. Could I just use DVD Decrypter to burn once I have the files?
