You have all you need, Nero ultra 6 is one of the best all round packages you can get today. Onne thing about recode, it will give you a fully functional menu, even after re-authoring, shrink can't do this. Shrink can rip, recode can't, so that is why you need anydvd, etc. Nero does file conversion, creates menus, cover design, PC back-ups, audio, you're in fine shape with this program. So many programs, all in one package. It was my 1st purchase(shrink and decrypter were free) and I have never regretted it. If you follow what I said you will be burning in no time. You can then thank me, cash would be great! lol

I tried to tell you to get anydvd. It's free for 30 days. That should give you enuff time to see if u want to buy it. DVD43 with the patin couffin can cause problems on some PC's. The standalone V. of DVD43 was free, now I'm hearing that it is going to cost after 30 days also. When u open recode are u getting a message saying can't copy protected material?

which version of dvd43 do you have?, 1.4 or 2.0? Also have you updated your nero with download packs 1,2, and 4. have you registered recodeand nerovision express 2 seperately? Does it recognize your dvd plug-in? You must go to nero ultra 6 homesite and download update packs 1,& 2 for recode and nerovision express 2(nve2 for future reference)to work. You must also regeister each one seperately using your nero u.6 purchase#, click on the ? in the bottom left corner of each one's opening menu. You will see a drop down menu asking to register, click on that and enter your nero purchase #. Have you done all these things ?
_I would also download pack 4, do NOT download pack 3.

Did you register each one seperately, this is very important. I could never get it to work until I did this. Same for a lot of others. Also is it saying that it recognizes your dvd plug-in.

You must register it seperately. Do u have anydvd turned on? If you're dvd 43 was working it would'nt matter, so you're first problem is rite there because recode isn't recognizing either. Register it 1st and let's see what happens.

Nero to register, are you reading all my posts, I told u how to register in an earlier one,16:31. Also when you're in recode, click on more, then on configure and make sure in output, that remove P-UOP and layer break are checked.

I missed that post, if I have to all this it will take some time....boy I thought this would be so much easier...I was sooooo wrong.

One question about DVD plugin, if I didn't have it I could not burn any dvd's, right?, I looked in my plug ins and see nothing that says dvd.

I have burned one dvd correctely earlier today using the DVD Shrink..

Thanks

One of the things that brought me to AD besides what I've learned here, was sharing it with others. I've been helping you along with bigorange on another thread, only to discover that your double posting and playing us back and forth, which is against forum rules, and for a good reason. When you do that, you provide each helping member with only a chunk of the information they need to help you, when either of us could have resolved your problem if we had it all. Without being fully informed we spend far more of our time helping one selfish individual when we could've been helping someone else.

Nero has to have it's dvd plugin, it comes with Nero, that's part of what all this you're doing now is to make sure you have it. Once all this is taken care of, I promise you will laugh at how easy it is. Open nerovision express and click on make a dvd and slide over to dvd-video, hold it there and look down and see if it tells you the dvd-plugin has been detected, if not, there's your problem.

Big O, Sophocles,
I don't know what Mrlovkim's problem is. I went over this same thing with him on another thread last night. Gave him much of the same advice that you guys gave him. I also pointed him toward the guides. If he couldn't see that I plainly said Nero runs auto with Shrink and he could try the trial, he can't read. Also, I said the only book he needs to read is the Shrink guide. If he has a recent version of Shrink, then he has a problem understanding what's happening. Shrink does its own ripping without Decrypter. This person needs to check the glossary and use the search before running around asking everyone the same questions and getting the same answers. I must admit Big O had the patience to create a mini guide here that might be helpful for the Newbies.

Obviously this person has not taken the advice to go to the Nero site. Nero does a good job of explaining itself there. And the DVD Plugin includes the Recode2 I mentioned in the Ultra retail package. So what's the problem, unless you're just trying to rack up posts? You're a junior member and should know better by now.

Nero's URL for the homepage.
http://www.nero.com/en/index.html
All you have to do is click on the URL.

Besides the guides here at AD you can go to Doom9.org. Don't know if you noticed but they have some of the same programs and guides. Here is their URL.
http://www.doom9.org/
all you have to do is click the URL and search the guides. The choice <guides> is on the left side of the page. If you need any more, go to MrBass.org. Doom9 can direct you there.

Lightning UK is a member of the Doom9 team, he's the author of DVD Decrypter. Just a bit of trivia there.

flip218 -

So right you are there little Buddy however our friend is confused and I'm not trying to make it harder on him - Ya gotta give the new guiy a break -

Mrlovkim, you're right it was getting pretty confusing for you - Bigorange was trying to help but was adding yet another program to the mix.

I'm going to work with what you have, OK ?

First about DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink - a good combo if used correctly - others mess up a good thing but you and I will keep it simple and easy -

There is a big difference between the way different programs do their job.

Think of DVD Decrypter as a Circus Strongman with a sledgehammer who stands in the middle of the room smashing the encryption and miscellaneous DVD IFO files flatter than a pancake with no rhyme or reason except that everything must be flat.

DVD Shrink is more like a craftsman, picking apart the encryption and laying everything out so that later it can be reassembled in its proper order.

When do the differences show up ? They show up with some DVD's like Disney's where the IFO files have to direct the player in and out through the twists and turns of the many VOB files that we all have seen and wonder why that 5.9GB DVD when taken apart in DVD Shrink re-Author or recode2 turns into a 9.2GB of files. It shows up in every DVD filmed in a dual angled mode where again, the IFO files are needed to guide the player from beginning to twisted end of the movie. Smashing with DVD Decrypter all the time can be self-injurious. By that I mean we may well be left without a guide to take us through the twists and turns of the DVD to find our way from beginning to the end of our favorite movie. Using DVD Decrypter on these DVD's results in sections left out of the film or a part coming before it should. One example given me was one section of the film was played in French with no way to turn it 'round until the next "angle" of the movie came around (Bugger, that).

And THAT Boys and Girls is why we use DVD Shrink all the time and only resort to DVD Decrypter when we come up against a "Tough Nut" that needs "a-bit-"O"-Smashing" because the "Craftsman" got stuck on a particular tough knot that requires that rare "Smashing" approach.

"and the Good Huntsman led the little boy and his lovely sister out of the deep, dark woods and into the sunny brightness of the flower strewn meadow, and they all lived happily forever after in a day."

THE END

Now for your first simple burning lesson we'll be using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink -

Here's an excellent guile at the bottom of the page of this thread -

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/79846

After you're finished burning with that guide
I'll hook you up with a guide using Nero as a burner then a guide using DVD Decrypter and Nero's recode2

Hang in there, we'll get ya going -

I worked with him on the same stuff that you are now and directed him to the appropriate guides for help, the same ones you are directing him to now. I got him started on Shrink and Nero.

He was posting on two seperate threads at the same time and bigorange and I were providing him with redundant back and forth information. He's provided no feedback on his results and it's difficult to gage what he has tried or learned as a result. It would be nice if while he is holding his hand out that he would let us know what he's tried.

BTW, DVD Decrypter doesn't cause any kind of harm or injurious smashing to a ripped file. If the DVD is clean and your equipment is functional then the rip is exattly what you would want before transcoding.

Hi Pete,

Welcome to my nightmare....LOL,ok so far yes I have read that thread and copied most of it and so far using a rewritable disc I have had success using shrink and decrypter and will try to burn to a dvdr that is not rewritable tomorrow.

I have done alot of reading and some of it just confuses me more but some has gotten me to where I am now and that is pretty far and I am happy.

I was only hoping to use my nero recode with anydvd to make things faster, from what I read that cuts the putting it to a hard drive then burning, but can't get that to work ,so I guess I will do it the other way for now which is fine.

I just wish I knew more for I am not very computer savy.

Thanks Pete and thank you all who have helped me.

Al
