Once again thanks smokeyrain for pointing me in the right direction and a big thanks to Kiaru for posting this
Your very welcome and glad its worked out and the young fella can play. I bought mine from another place and same thing, so I think its pretty much most of the fliptops. I know I was thankful for that post.

I'm very close to ordering swap magic, but first I have a couple of questions about it:
1. I have a SPCH 77001 slim PS2. Will Swap Magic 3.6 Swap Magic 3.6
and Swap Tool Pro
Swap Tool Pro
work with it?
2. I've heard horror stories about part E and installing it. Is it worth it in the end? I really don't want to void my warranty but I've heard that part E has even made some people's PS2s completely stop working.

you could buy the fliptop cover if your worriedabout damaging the console. every thing you could run into problem wise is in this thread. they cost around 20gbp and you can fit it in around 10 minutes. try ps2cover.com or psx services, and dont forget the metal strip in kiaru's post it;s not included in either of their installation guides

I'm interested in a flip top, but I read somewhere here that Magic Keys II is more efficient than a flip top nowadays. If I do decide to get a fliptop though, would this work:
http://www.modchip.ca/store/product.php?...&cat=269&page=1
Also, is there a cheaper please to purchase it in Canada?

The Tool E can be hard to fit on some later models of PS2 slim. But the latest Swap Tool Pro 2006 is supposed to fit properly.
The only problem with some fliptops is making sure it fits properly so the discs will play. The slim is better than the FAT PS2 being the discs fit properly on the spindle without the white piece overtop of it.
Here is a cheaper fliptop in Canada, they are trustworthy to buy from. I have purchased from them with no problems

Hello all. I need help BIG time! For Christmas I bought my daughter Swap Magic 3.6 and the slide tool for the fat PS2 and the import game Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix. I cannot get this import game to play. I can do the slide tool and follow the steps fine for the Swap Magic but it keeps telling me I need more TOC. I know TOC is table of contents and I've tried putting in different games that are supposed to have high TOC, like Devil May Cry, and it still wont play. Keeps saying not a valid PS2 disc, insert bigger TOC, and refresh TOC. Any ideas? I've already returned the Swap Magic discs once thinking maybe the discs.
HELP!
Thanks

When you do the TOC refresh, are you hitting the EJECT on the PS2, then inserting the disc. After the TOC refresh is done, it will tell you, and then you can start to use the slide-tool to swap
the discs with your import/backup.

I have followed those direction to refresh the TOC and have used Devil May Cry. Do you know the TOC of Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix? Do I have bad Swap Magic discs (already replaced them once)? Could it be the PS2 system?
Thanks

What Version FAT PS2 do you have, and have you had any problems with any discs not reading?
Just stick your Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix in the computer DVD tray and go to My Computer to see the size of the Disc. That is your TOC
You could try with the Swap Magic CD to load the import.
1.Eject the CD tray and insert the Swap Magic CD Disc.
2.Reset your PS2 and wait till Swap Magic loads Up
3.When you see the Swap Magic Screen that saids "Load Game" along with the video settings(Pal or NTSC) eject the PS2 cd tray and take out the Swap Magic CD and and the screen will now say Refresh TOC
4.Now insert a PS2 DVD Original Game(Silver Bottom) With a High TOC(check your ps2 games on the computer and see which is the biggest game you have in size)
4.after it goes back to the Swap Magic Screen Open the PS2 Flip Top Cover/or Slide tool and insert the DVD Backup, After This The screen should turn red and the game will start.

Hi smokyrain. It's a SCPH 39001 fat PS2 and no problems reading discs as far as I know. I put the game in my laptop and it looks like it's 4.03 GB if that sounds right. Is it the Swap Magic Discs that actually DO the TOC refreshing? Just wondering if it's the discs. I thought I read somewhere that if the discs are copies they don't work as well as originals. What should an original Swap Magic discs package look like? These just came in a plain white cd sleave, no markings on the sleave just the name on the discs.
Thanks

I only have SM 3.8 but the Swap Magic 3.6 should look like this:
Ignore the tools above it.
Yes its the Swap Magic that does the TOC refresh, and the screen will say that at the bottom once you hit eject on the PS2.
I personally think also you would be better off to get a fliptop for your PS2, a lot easier on the PS2.
You may also want to try loading a different backup to see if that will load up and play.

My discs look like that but they didn't come in a case like that is shown (I believe that is a case). I can't use a fliptop, I have the fat PS2 with the tray. I don't understand why it won't work. Maybe I should return the discs and try buying them from somewhere else and see.
thanks

I'm trying to play a GH2 custom disc I made. I burned the disc using DVD Decrypter and it is a Memorex DVD-R disc. I've installed all necessary things from the Slim ps2 Swap Magic case I got. Everytime I bring up Swap Magic and swap the discs, I get the "Not a Valid PS2 Disc" Error.
I've tried burning the disc twice on 2x and 4x, neither worked. help?

Hi there.
i just got a swapmagic disc and slide tool but something's wrong. i tried to use the slide tool but it didn't work. But that didn't seem to matter. I managed to eject the tray without the disc getting reset. So i then entered the imported game but it says "Not a valid ps2 disc". Can you please help me?
I used a dvd+rw disc.
is there a specific software i need to use to burn the game onto the disc? I downloaded it from peer to peer. is that ok?

You can't use DVD-RW, you need to use a DVD-R to burn it, and choose 4x speed.
You can use imgburn, just google it. Its a free program and works great to backup PS2 games or Burn PS2 ISO.
Just choose Write Image to Disc, choose your image file, set speed and burn it.

Are u sure i can't use dvd-rw(minus)? or did you mean dvd+rw?(plus)
I know i can use dvd-r. I used it yesterday and it worked. So i don't have any problems with that. But i really hope i can use dvd-rw so i can overwrite a game if i dont want it and want to change it. instead of having to throw it out i can just get another game on it. It would be a waste of money otherwise.

Also, does playing back up games damage your ps2?

Yes I am sure you can't use DVD+RW or DVD-RW
The PS2 doesn't load +/- RW's well, if at all, Not to mention they put terrible strain on the laser.
I can buy DVD-R for about .36 cents each, it works out too.
And no playing backups does not damage your PS2.

Well, yes it does, but it varies depending on the brand of media you are using. Even if you use a high quality grade such as MCC or TY Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden, it is still doing damage (though small) to the laser as it is adding extra stress, again which varies depending on the brand (a PS2 can go for years running on high quality grade). Cheap media will wear it out much much faster though.
