I have a PAL PS2 SCPH-50004 and no internal modchips. I use Swap Magic Coder 3.8 to load NTSC/UC games. I have problems with Xenosaga Episode I: Der Willle zur Macht (original NTSC). I know about getting bigger TOC so I bought Champions of Norrath (original PAL) but even refreshing the TOC with Champions'one, nothing change. It seems I can't load my own Xenosaga I. Do you know a possible solution?
Isn't Xenosaga a DVD 9, or is it shrinked to a DVD 5?
Swap magic 3.8 can't play dual layer DVD.

Xenosaga Episode I is a DVD-9. I used xenosaga_3_disc_ripkit.rar to split it in 3 DVD-5 but I always have the same issue: the first disc load using Swap Magic Coder 3.8, when I see the screen with New and Continue and click on New the result is a blackscreen with just the character radar and nothing else.
Thanks to everyone who can help me.

You may have to then rebuild your disc 2 again to work with sm 3.6
Read this post in the thread Easy Methods to rebuild PS2 games, including GRAN TURISMO 4, 50CENT & XENOSAGA Episode 1

I had already read that thread but I have to say that:
I creat the Xenosaga Episode I ISO with DVD Decrypter then I use the Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins drop down list of the Gnie's new rebuilding tool then
2. Select the iso you want to rebuild.
3. Click extract LBA.
4. Click extract file and wait for it to finish.
5. Click rebuild file and wait for it to finish.
6. But when i click on rebuild LBA it gives me an error and the Iso created that I burn with DVD Decrypter crash after clicking on New Game giving a fully black screen and just the radar of the character in the lower-right corner.

If someone succeeded with that method please tell me what kinda software you used to make the ISO since I suppose the one with DVD Decrypter didn't work.

Thanks a lot

Ok well what they are saying is your disc 2 after making the 3 disc of Xenosaga 1 is that is 4.36 GB and may require another rebuild.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/16/275350#1696870

If the expert tool is giving you an error then try rebuilding the Disc 2 this way.

Thanks I found a wonderful guide to solve Xenosaga Episode I issue (page 16) but it needs a software called Apache3.exe. The version suggested is http://rapidshare.com/files/15060424/Apache3.exe.html but once opened it gives an error message of file missing called starburn.dll. Is there someone having the right WORKING version of Apache3 so I can use the guide posted by alcohol?

The guide is something amazing and I thing with Apache3.exe WORKING it will be ok.

Thanks for everyone who can help

You can get the latest apache 3.1 here:
http://pixoda.wordpress.com/
Just scroll down the page.
or the apache 3: http://www.sksapps.com/index.php?page=mis.html
I assumed you had used Alkohol's version of the xenosaga_3_disc_ripkit, so good luck with it then.

All CD's Play fine but no DVD's play is what you are saying then.
Now you say it says "no data" when you insert a DVD, it is not a "disk read error".
Is this an older PS2, I am thinking that is it is dusty inside and needs a good cleaning. Best to take it right apart being careful of the ribbon cables etc. and clean it with a can of air.
That would be my first suggestion.

my playstation was playing fine until i put in the swap magic 3.6 dvd disc and now the ps2 doesnt work, it spins and everything but it doesnt load, it just keeps reading disc. on the other hand PS1 games work perfectly, and CD's. the PS2 DVD games or ANY DVDs dont work at all, how do i fix it

also im using flip top cover, one thing i noticed was that the laser thing shines brighter when i try playing the DVD, like it shines thru the disc, and the CDs it doesnt HELP PLZZ.

and this is a slim by the way. i just copied and pasted it and i tried cleaning it, it doesnt work

Is there maybe a problem with the installation of your fliptop.
To rule this out, you may need to return the old case and see if it will play DVD's.
There is quite a bit of discussion in this forum on "PS2 slim fliptop problems" that might help you out.

It is a great forum, it is not our fault that someone hasn't come across this thread as fast as you would like with another answer.

I gave you a suggestion that it might be your fliptop, as you say everything worked fine before, CD's work but DVD's just say no data.
Its not your laser I wouldnt think as it should say "disk read error".
As for the Laser showing through the DVD, that is normal. Mine does on both my slim and FAT PS2.
I have read in other threads the same thing happening to someone else, that is why I suggested that you return it to normal and see if the issue is still there.
If you havent the patience to wait then do some more searching on fliptops and your swap magic, or try an alternative method like the tape and tissue mod, and see if you have the same problems.
You will then know you do have a bigger issue or at least can rule out these options.

What about trying the tape and tissue method to boot your backups.
Or use the straw method instead of taping the cover.

Worth a try to see if it works.

Is this by chance a V12 PS2. You havent said what model you have.
If yes then read this and see if it helps.

I have to agree with the above, it helps everyone better if when making a post to tell us everything you have already done, and what model you have etc.

My point of that link was to show you KooWater's Post about his V12 and how he had to keep it turned off for about 10 to 15 mins (or until its not warm anymore) then put swap magic in. then it worked. its probably the laser cuz the 70012 has/had problems with them.

So if you have tried everything then I guess this is your only alternative.

The V12 is well known for its laser issue, you can do a different search I am sure for an new laser that is probably cheaper than that place. I just wanted to point out its issue.

Hi i'm a newbie to this whole pgen thingy: Hear me out: i got the pgen v151 from the internet. I already have roms i own, I got the system cnf and edited to fit the pgen 151 code and all that : i got nero to burn the cd. I have a mod ps2: i've tried using nero to burn pgen on dvd-r and dvd-rw, cd-r (And i fixed the settings to fit for each). But none of them work on my mod ps2. I borrowed a snes station disc from one of my friends and it boots up perfectly with no hassles: i've been to soo many forums to get help but all of them seem one step ahead. I feel i've omissed something. when i checked the snes-station disc i saw an install.cnf file: it wasn't present in my compilation. Do i need a pgen install file as well? is this the problem? i need to know and i need your help or anyone's. This is very frustrating................
