I have an older Xbox and took the harddrive out hooked to computer use hotswap. I got it to work with a program hdd drive but i didn't see any partitions on it all it had was three game saves and a Systme folder and thre cache folders. I keep reeding people saying C E D F drive but i don't see it how do i upgrade it

Hey Guys

Heres the thing right, i wish 2 softmod my xbox. I have both the files needed to do so with splinter cell (linux, PAL version) and have formated my USB flash drive to take the data through from Action Replay. The problem is that each time i stick the flash drive in and go 2 the memory section of the xbox it comes up with "Memory Unit #A. The memory unit you inserted isn't working correctly. It has been erased." and i can't copy the files to the HD. I have visited other forums suggesting that i should re-format the flash drive after the files have been put on it through AR back to the regular FAT format but have still had no success. Could you help me out here.

it might be your controller puck that is damaged..but you can also look at this tutrial and see if it helps u....you can download the files form this tutorial

If you are trying to softmod using hot swap be 100% sure to back up you MS dash and your eeprom a lot of people make that mistake?

I plan on using the SID 4.5 Nkave mod which apparently backs the eeprom up anyway.

Copy the files from the usb stick to the hard drive. But as previously mentioned the xbox keeps erasing the files.

make sure you are using valid saves do you have a memory stick right AR..then you wanna download the action replay software off code junkies the latest version...and did you drop your xbox or something because its not suppose 2 earse things on its own??....

Sorry for the noobish question but my not-modded xbox seems to have the intermittent dirty disc error and is unable to read music CD-Rs for importing.

If I do the softmod on it will it be able to read music CD-Rs then or is it a firmware thing?

Also can you still import music onto the box for use in games, ie Forza?

yes your xbox can read games data and music also dvd's but u need XBMC to play dvd's and music u can also see pictures on your xbox

I do have a memory stick and have configured it for Action Replay. My AR version is 1.4 (the latest version), I have downloaded the AID v3.0 which comes with the Nkave files and i haven't dropped my xbox. I also have a normal xbox mem card and it works fine. If your wondering why i haven't tried 2 use the xbox mem card instead it's because it's 2 small 2 take the data.

I don't have any adapters for my xbox mem card anyway and would prefer not 2 mess with it incase i accidently break it or something. Is it possible that something in the xbox update could cause the wiping of my flash drive when inserted?

Ok, atm i'm using a program called XBox-Saves Manager wich came with the AID pack. My xbox's ip is 198.168.1.5 but the FTP client keeps coming up with "connection failed".

DO NOT PAY ANY ATTENTION TO THIS. IT WAS A MISTAKE 2 PUT IN.

As far as FTP clients go I also highly recommend:
WinSCP
and
FileZilla

They are both powerful and very easy to use, also they are free ware and open source respectively thats always a bonus.
