hi:

Just started using Anydvd. I am using the trial version and from what I can see its only a driver (in my tray) that runs in the background and makes programs like shrink, DDVD, etc show that there is no encryption on the source?

Since Decrypter and Shrink automaticlly decrypt what is the advantage of using this program? Sorry if this is a novice question but I was weaned on shrink and Decrypter but am worried that their encryption capabilities will be out of date soon. Regards...

As you stated it makes the disk look unencrypted which means you can use it without having to use a ripper. In otherwords, you open AnyDVD and then place your disk in and open Nero Recode which will not do protected disks and it will work. You open Shrink and if you have a movie that Shrink has been unable to break the protection of in the past, it will work. If you have a disk that will fit to a single layer disk without having to compress you can just do a direct copy using Nero, because AnyDVD makes it look unprotected. AnyDVD is a very handy tool.

hey arniebear:

Thanks for prompt reply. Please not that I am researching and playing with AnyDVD as we speak. I cant find a real good guide on it. I have it set for main movie cause thats all I back up with 5.1 sound no subtitles.

I just put a source disk in to Shrink and yes no encryption. However I still have to go to reauthor and drag the main movie etc like before? what is the setting mean in AnyDVD to jump to main movie? In the meantime I will look for a guide so I dont have to ask this novice questions. Regards...

Here is a guide for the programs AnyDVD and CloneDVD

http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/BACKUP%20WITH%20CLONEDVD&ANYDVD.pdf

When you put in jump to the main movie, that only works with CloneDVD.

As arniebear stated about CloneDVD 2, when you insert a movie you can quickly go to movie only, which many (as is the cause with myself) use just to have the movie only. You can also turn off such annoying progs. such as Interactual player, or any other prog like Power DVD, Windows Media Player. One thing I like about AnyDVD is how quickly it is updated so as to prevent any problems with newer movies. If a problem occurs, then just use Decrypter to get it to HD and then burn with any burning program you have.

AnyDVD and CloneDVD are excellent programs to have, I used the trial for about a week and purchased, it was the best 60.00 I ever spent. I use other programs but Clone is really good for splitting to 2 disks, because you can retain the menus on both disks. I use this with episodic TV backups.

The "jump to main movie" function works with most of the films I back up. I use the RF version of X-Copy.
