3.1J wii person here. would i be able to play any backup or original copy of SMG? I do have a JAP backup of SMG but it won't let me play it, since the message is all in cool-lettering japanese. I can play wii fit perfectly (original copy) though.
*Chipset is 50% most likely a D2C, and i see a red light in the SD slot. can't wait for brawl btw.

i'm having a problem. i have a japanese wii with a wiikey.
my brother got smg usa version and he i guess accidentally updated the wii firmware to 3.0 or 3.1 or something so i can't go to the settings page anymore but all my games still work.
i then updated the wiikey to 1.9g and everything still works except it doesn't get smg to work.
i also used the wiikey setup to turn region lock off.
what else can i do?

i have a japanese wii, d2c chip and updated to 3.2J, will it work with the US or PAL version of SMG?

I have a Wiikey modded Wii. I upgraded my Wii to 3.2U via Wi-Fi. I then upgraded the Wiikey to 1.9g beta.
However, I'm still having problem running SMG. After I clicked on "Start", it showed me the 001 error message - Unauthorized Device detected. What's wrong?

My JAP back-up did not show the 001 message when i load the game. instead, it showed a different message with unique font on a blue box. anyone experienced it?

lemme fix that, the blue box doesn't give me the 001. The blue box with the text roughly translates as "The Game Disc Cannot Be Read, Please See Operation Manual". If i eject, it just tells me to insert the SMG disc :\. The JAP one i got is a backup. However, the NTSC-U locks up only.

NOTE to people trying to play games from othr regions:
You need to check the COMPATIBILITY LISTS linked in the initial post of this thread.

Somehow the update did not work.
Maybe you have a Wiikey clone, or it was a bad disc burn. Try the 1.9g again.

hi all!
would you know if SMG and paper mario will work on my US wii (3.0U, d2ckey)?

Knowing Nintendo it probably will have the same protection. However I stumbled on a chip called Wasabi that said they found a way round any future protection...don't know if this is true or not though.

I checked the Wiikey and it was an authentic WiiKey. When I ran the 1.9g beta upgrade, I went through the update with the successful message with reference to galaxy. Could it be the media itself? I have burned several copies with 4X on Ritek DVD-R disc. Does anyone has any description on what this protection is about? Is it reading certain bits/bytes on the disc that may not have been recorded properly or could it be a bad backup?

Hello I'm new to this so please bear with me.I bought an older wii from someone and got a wiikey installed and had none of the problems I've been reading about but I downloaded super mario galaxy es-pal and without thinking updated it,now I cannot get into the wii options and have two of everything is there anything I can do to fix this?By the way it is a ntsc-u wii and I have the 1.9g wiikey update and every game plays fine.Please help!

Check the thread above out - its seems to have some useful hints.
You've basically semi-bricked your Wii...the only way to fix this is to find a game with an update from your region to overwrite the firmware with what it should be.

wassup, dudes?
i have a wii, modded (i think with a wiikey, official or clone). everything's been cool. Gamecube back-ups, wii back-ups...
I got a Super Mario Galaxy back-up, performed the prompted update and had the 001 error. Tried the other games, gamecube back-ups and older wii games and they work fine.
got the 1.9gbeta, 1.9gboot, even 1.9b recovery but haven't used any yet. checked the settings: firmware is 3.0E.
what can i do? what are my options? how do i know if i have the 1.3 or 1.9b? do i get the 3.2 firmware and then update to 1.9gbeta? what is the difference between 1.9gbeta and 1.9gboot?

gbatemp updated their list for NTSC-U to NTSC-J page for Galaxy, u need an iso of the US version and patch it with language patcher.

Hello
I wonder how to get some games working.
I have a new pal (LE155...) wii with d2pro chip.
Wii firmware is 2.1E, no internet (but could connect if necessary).
I can access Wii settings fine so I'm guessing -> not bricked yet.
There was never any dialog asking me to update.
Burned with Alcohol 120% and imgburn on Memorex-R 2x speed.
Other games like SMP8, SPM, Dog Island, Bully SE all worked fine (All w/above burn config).
SMG is pal and iso was brickblocked.
I can start the game but then i just get a black screen.
The disc will eject but i can't get back to the menu, have to turn power off. After reset, everything works as before.
Exactly the same happens with MP3, No More Heroes, and Wii Chess.
Although I think NMH I didn't brickblock, gonna try that again.
Any advice on what to do next to get SMG working?

You just semi-bricked your wii. Just do the 3.2 update from the internet and everything should be fine.

I have wii updated to 3.2U, and my wiikey is at 1.9G...also my wii is NTSC
i have donwloaded and burned 2 different torrents of SMG, and neither work on my wii. My other backups work, but this one still doesnt for some reason. Can anyone please help me on why this is not working and how i can get the game to work. thanks!!

I've just updated my wiikey firmware to 1.9s and updated wii system to 3.2e (latest march 20 update) and SMG has stopped working.. originally i had 3.2E (older version) and 1.9g beta
anyone having the same problem? the SMG screen shows on Disc Channel but as soon as I press start it gives me a game operations manual error
P.S - my wii is PAL

1.9s on 3.2E with default config settings (i.e. region override on etc) All working fine here inc. SMG PAL. Verbatim DVD-R @ 4x using imgburn.

Hi,
can someone really please help me with this. i have posted a response or two, but still havent gotten any help/response.
I have a NTSC wii (v 3.2u) and a wiikey (1.9g) and i am trying to run a Mario galaxy backup (NTSC). All my other backups work, except this one. I put in the disc, and it says :cannot read disk. WHY? WHY? WHY?....i've tried different burn speeds and everything, and yet it doesnt work. When i put it in, nothing appears where the disc channel is too.
